Around 40,000 people flock to the island [Isle of Man] for the TT: made up of genuine motorcyclists and those who just want to soak up the general atmosphere. The week after practice week is affectionately named 'Crazy Week'. This is where the general public can ride the Mountain Course and act as if they were Mike Hailwood, Giacomo Agostini, Joey Dunlop, John McGuinness or Peter Hickman. The Isle of Man really comes to life, and it's a joyous time of year. The TT will always be a dangerous race. I can understand people who don't know much about motor racing wanting the TT to stop, but they don't know what the event actually represents. Riders are not forced to compete at the TT, and that brings a lot of excitement to fans. How would you feel if you were no longer able to do something you love?
At no time does anyone race with the intension of getting hurt. A boxer or MMA fighter goes in the ring to inflict the maximum damage on his opponent. I know which sport I choose to participate in.
You cannot kill the TT. Viewers go watch the doco "Closer to the Edge" and you will understand where the riders, their families and the crews come from. Thanks MotoGP News for being Pro TT.
