  • This video is the first in a series that will follow in the next few weeks.
If you're serious about building a controller correctly then I highly recommend reviewing this series as it takes the guess work out of proper grounding with EMI mitigation.

after all these years it amazes me on how people put so much trust in some of the youtube videos of DIYers out there. I have several skill sets that allow me to be over Dangerous when it might be something just slightly outside my 100% full understanding. The LAST thing I would do is make a Video to show others what I call Dollar Store Professional Solutions. Thanks for being Here Vince! Its always a pleasure to just follow some of the stuff you post.

I like when someone goes to the trouble to use shielded wire but then fails to ground the shielding. I've seen some on YT build a fairly decent system but then use plastic or wood enclosures. A lot of the YT builders also put the VFD in the same enclosure with all the sensitive electronics. It may never be an issue with their builds, but I don't want to take the chance.

Yea, this is very common along with the VFD being mounted with the electronics, and unfortunately, it's because no research is done from credible sources. Thank you for your support. Vince

Here's something that'll make you shake your head in disbelief - the meter and fuses in the main switchboard for my house are mounted on MDF. These are tamper proof sealed and have to be signed off by a level two electrician on install so I'm assuming it's compliant (and probably the fire rated type) but it seems an unnecessary risk to me.
Anyway - thanks for the videos. I studied this stuff at uni, but have been working in software, so it's a great refresher before making my own plasma cnc.

Thank you for your support. I really appreciate it. I would certainly check with your insurance about the use of MDF in a breaker box as this is not the standard practice for most states.
      I'm glad the videos help.
Thank you, and have a great weekend!
