    Hi, I'm new to your chanel after watching you do the gingerbread teapot & cup & saucer, and on to another gingerbread video then on to watching you do these amazing clay canes! I always wondered how these were done! You have a new subscriber today! You deserve so many more subs, because your diys are fantastic, well put together with no rushing, and your gentle voice just is the cherry on top! I'm chronically ill so can't cope with loud voices and loud music. So, now I have found your channel I will be binge watching! It's 3am in the UK, I suffer from chronic insomnia so I will be watching until I finally drop off to sleep! So thank you so much for sharing your God given gifts with us all! God bless you in all things and much love from me too! Xx

    What is the easiest way to cut canes? Can you cut them raw or do you do it after baking? I'm brand new to clay work and cane making, and I'm trying to learn what to do. Thank you for sharing your videos. They're very informative, and I am in awe of your talent.

      You can cut before or after but if you cut baked canes warm them a bit with a hair dryer/heat gun if they are cooked to soften them and reduce the risk of shattering and chipping. The key is having a sharp blade more than anything.

      @AdamantForge is right - you can bake before and after baking. It depends on your project. Warming up the cane with a hairdryer after they baked - this is a great tip! 👌🏻😀
      If you decorate a gingerbread house, you don't need the cane being raw. Bake the cane for 10-15 min with the temp. recommended by manufacturers. When I started my clay journey, I baked the cane for 5 min and kept them in boxes. I cut them - they crumbled... I used the sharpest blades I could find - the same story... They crumbled because I baked them for a not enough amount of time. If you are interested, I have a video about baking polymer clay: th-cam.com/video/WRlRvSPNkDk/w-d-xo.html
      So now I bake my canes for 15 min and store them in the bags.
      Another situation: you need the canes for making slabs, so you can not bake them. Place them in your refrigerator for about 30 min, and cut immediately after taking them out. And of course, very sharp blades are the key!🌷😉

      I bake them for about 10 min before decorating gingerbread houses. They get hard! 😉👌🏻

    This is awesome, thank you for sharing! How long do you bake the canes? Thanks in advance!

  • @tootimus123

    why do you only bake the canes you need for the project and store the remaining raw? What is the advantage to storing it raw?

    • @polinacreations7729
      @polinacreations7729  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is up to you how to store them.😉 I leave fruit canes raw, but I bake small Christmas candy canes. I use them for decorating gingerbread houses - it is easy for me when they are baked. If you store raw canes for a long time (even if they were in a bag), they will become more fragile... So I leave some large canes raw and bake some tiny canes. 😉🌷
