I live in zone 6b in the Niagara Region of Ontario. Two years ago, I gave one of my Chicago Hardy fig cuttings to a neighbor, and we planted it directly in the ground. Last fall, we wrapped it in insulation, covered it with a tarp, and placed a flower pot on top to allow airflow. In the spring, it had minimal frost damage, and the tree thrived throughout the summer. Despite not fertilizing it, my neighbor still got large figs. Next year, we plan to follow your fertilizing instructions.

How cold is too cold for a fig tree in the fall time in other words, at what temperature should I bring it indoors at night? Thank you for the informative video.!

-1 to -3 celcius is ok. But I would just bring it inside after it gets a taste of its first frost. Just remove all the leaves and remaining figs on it before you do.

I'm curious how often do you repot and or root trim your figs? What time of year is best for root trimming?

You could definitely up-pot every year if you don't want to root prune. But if you don't want to up-pot i would root prune in the late fall after the tree had gone dormant.
