    Good job. Essential tips for a successful winter trekking...To share my experience - during a patrol in Himalayas, four of the accompanying porters took it easy and removed the sunglasses, causing snow blindness the following day. It was painful. We had to literally carry them on our back till we reached the nearest medical aid post. ...The snow sunlight reflection can blind you, although temporary. Hence, during trek do wear sunglasses throughout the day.

    Woolen socks additional pair is priceless. A bigger bang for their size than anything else.
    Also for rain protection, my personal feeling is an umbrella would also be useful as the first line of defence against rain. I can understand if one is climbing then umbrella is not the thing. But often when steep climbs are not the order of the day or you are at a campsite and are looking to move around, an umbrella is far more convenient than a rain poncho or rain pants and jackets (at camp site) and first' line outside of that. . A smaller foldable umbrella can be squeezed in with only a little bit of a stretch.

    What kind of thermal should I opt for snow trek in January- decathlon mh500 or mh900?

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on your other layers Alisa. 500 is good enough if you couple it with 5 other layers. Check out details of what layers to carry here: indiahikes.com/layering-himalayan-winter-trek-jackets/

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Padded jackets are lightweight and easy to carry, It has air pockets on them which acts a insulator which keeps one warm. On the other hand Leather jackets are heavy and not waterproof.
      Padded jackets can be rented from our rental website - store.indiahikes.com/
