Actually the old hag does also say other phrases in the new version. In LMGVIDS video you can hear her say "Take a bite". Also the poisoned apple in that scene isn't a projection but actually a translucent apple that shrinks into the poisoned version by a vaccuum and the light comes from the inside of the apple. Hope this helps! Love all the hard work you do!
Wonder if it was just coincidence that all the videos I watched had the same line or that when it first opened it was limited. I couldn't tell that the apple shrank that's really cool. Was that how the old effect was done too. I just thought maybe it was a lighting trick
@@ParallelDiscover @Parallel Disney I actually don't know about the old hag's line but that is weird! Also I don't think the old apple had that affect even though it does give the illusion of a skull!

@@ParallelDiscover I actually just analyzed the photos of that scene with the lights on and you can see it shrink and the most effective way would be to use a vaccum.
I loved the original ride (because I'm a sucker for scary rides) but this new refurbishment looks intriguing. It's nice to see the story be told better.
I agree, the new stuff is cool but I looked forward to the creepy feel. I am sad that that is gone from Disneyland. At least there are still scary counter parts out there
How do you only have 924 subscribers? I love how you enumerated and explained everything in detail. Loving your voice, too. This was amazeballs. Good job! 🥰
I think this nitch is mostly obscure. Probably why no one else does it at this level. There are also a lot of Disney channels. Hope I squeeze through the cracks one day. Thanks for the kind words.
This attraction was very interesting even though it's nice to have change once in a while. Everyone's seeing the cartoony version of my made-up character's medieval ancestor as we speak.
I remember riding the old SWSA at WDW. I loved the individual creativity of it; even a simple Dopey at the beginning of the ‘scary’ portion holding a sign that said “Beware Of The Witch.” As a child, it was unsettling seeing a sweet character like Dopey holding that sign. I loved the dominance of the queen/witch in that ride. They ARE SCARY adventures. A shame that SWSA doesn’t exist anymore either at Disneyland or WDW. But, the ride as currently existing is arguably closer to Walt Disney’s original title for the ride “Snow White And Her Adventures.”
@@ParallelDiscover I rode at 6 years old and wanted to keep going back. I kind of loved that they weren’t beholden to the movie storyline in the Florida park and actually had the guts to say what would it look like if the queen won the story? Not directly, but by very strong inference, that was the message of Florida’s “Snow White’s Scary Adventures.”
I love this so much. I appreciate the update more now that you've pointed out these things. They've added some nice effects, but I prefer the previous version. In case nobody else has mentioned it, you missed one thing: The Queen's throne has a new projection on it. Thanks!
I was at Disneyland a few weeks ago and hit this ride during a lull. I think it’s a big improvement. The ride still feels a little bit rushed, there isn’t enough space in these old dark ride show buildings for them to fit in the complete story… but at least now there’s an ending. The old version just jumped straight from the haunted forest to “oh, the ride’s over.”
A lot of the updates do look more modern but parks need to be careful of becoming over-reliant on projections for dark rides. As some of the creativity is lost Was looking forward to seeing more diverse effects. And although this was nicely done they should have kept the "scary" theme. Imagine how cool that would have been with the added effects
I think my favorite little change is the table in the transformation scene. It's a fun add that shows what caused the transformation and I love the uneven legs that it has to accommodate the steps
i believe the evil queen in snow white & the seven dwarfs is named queen grimhilde; i have a big book that has a collection of disney comics and in the snow white one (called seven dwarfs and the captive fairy's quest), the queen is named by yellow squares in the top left corner near the beginning of the comic. the comic is really fun and full of action since all the dwarfs except for dopey meet some sort of fate: grumpy gets turned into a scarecrow, doc gets turned to stone, sleepy gets tethered to the ground by a wire, sneezy falls into a river after a sneeze shakes a bridge, bashful gets burned alive by a dragon and happy becomes a statue with water pouring out his eyes. dopey also shows great courage when he has to bring back the other dwarves
Very interesting video. I love these old vs new videos and this one is so detailed, it’s especially great. But I have to say, even if I think the new one looks more detailed, more friendly, more colourful and more funny … I kinda prefer the old version… in Paris we still have the old version and I hope they leave it like that (they have to focus on so many other things anyway, like expanding and refurbishing the studios etc and they already way too slow without changing existing rides …🙄) maybe in this case it’s a good thing, that Disneyland Paris is kinda the „stepchild“ of all the Disney parks 😂
Great video. Thank you for doing it! I always thought Snow White’s Scary Adventure was a bit dark. Too grim. Even as an adult, I was creeped out by the skeletons. Here we are in Fantasyland and there are the human remains of people who had died horrible, agonizing torture deaths. It seemed a bit much for a family park. It still has eeriness - the scene when the witch turns from the mirror was one of the things that terrified me as a child. That’s still there. She still pops up doing her witchy things. But the sadistic necrophiliac serial killer vibe is gone, which in my opinion is an improvement.
You are right, but there is something about that creepy feeling I like that I am going to miss. I wish disney would explore that more in some of their other parks. I wish I got to do extraterrorestrial so bad. But yah Disneyland and Magic Kingdom should stay more kid friendly. Man, phantom mannor is so cool
Agreed. Disney is a family park and the original ride was wayyy too scary. I get that they renamed it “Scary Adventures” and posted warnings over the years, but even then, still way too sadistic. IMO the ride is much improved, while maintaining just enough scary elements from the previous ride
Is anyone old enough to remember the really old original version at Disneyworld? Now that was very scary and 7yr old me absolutely loved it! I was lucky enough to work on the Paris version in the 90s and was amazed how tame it was and the amount of kids who were crying when they got off 😂
@@ParallelDiscover I think there’s a video of it on here from about 1992, the quality isn’t very good but you can definitely hear the witch screaming more and being more evil!
I LOVE YOUR RECAP! Very nicely edited. Regarding the attraction itself... I have my thoughts ;) I liked that the story was complete. But I feel WDW's version told it better. Even DLP's version tells it nicely. But to the extent that the previous version was scary, this version is happy. (It's excessively happy) I may or may not have burst out laughing at the end. I'm glad though that the story doesn't just end with a book. But I miss all of the thematic scary elements. Like Inside Out taught us - we should embrace all emotions. Some of us kids (and kids at heart) love the villains and atmospheric experiences like Halloween walk-throughs.
Honestly I never really enjoyed the scary trees Scene of the original for one simple reason it doesn't have the same feel as the actual movie. For One thing Snow White was actually running through the forest jumping at every turn and even falling down a huge hallow tree if she was falling into the mouth of a beast. So shouldn't it made more sense if that scene was used in a fast thrill Ride with twist and turns, stops and drops, not a slow moving Dark Ride?
I skip Snow White's Enchanted Wish whenever I visit Disneyland and I still the miss Snow White's Scary Adventures for it's overall dark atmosphere and it's thrills! Now Enchanted Wish is very beautiful with it's happy ending like in the original movie but too family friendly now and it no longer fun.The current Snow White's Enchanted Wish is beautiful but boring and it's not worth riding it anymore. Since you see the Seven Dwarfs twice after seeing them dancing and singing in their cottage then again in the Diamond Mines! I could ride Scary Adventures more than 5 times since it never got old! Now, not anymore. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is essentially a horror film, since it was also inspired from horror silent films in the 1920's and 1930's. But, current American society became too weak and soft...
I personally like the new additions but I hate the fact that they got rid of so many scary moments. Like why remove all the skeletons. Who were they bothering??? And why get rid of the scary forest! It is one of my favourite scenes from the movie and now has zero representation. And the ending is just so anticlimactic and genuinely confusing. It really disappoints me to be honest
