  • Ministers will remain on “high alert” over the violent disorder that swept through parts of Britain despite tensions appearing to subside over the weekend, Downing Street has said.
Police had been braced for further riots but no widespread unrest arose after a large turnout of anti-racism protesters and warnings that those involved could face 10-year prison sentences.
Former Met Police detective Peter Bleksley joins Talk’s Mike Graham to discuss this further.

Labour Councillor Ricky Jones is going to court on September 6. Why isn't he on trial now? This is the sort of two tier justice we are talking about. Jaswant Narwal, chief crown prosecutor for north London said of this case “We remind all concerned that criminal proceedings are active and that he has the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
Did anyone in the North of England get such courtesy from the Crown Prosecution, or is this yet another example of Two Tier Kier?

In my area, it’s the caravaners who do the majority of shop thefts.
And the shops, both large and small village shops, don’t even bother reporting it, anymore because it costs them even more in time and effort with the police doing nothing. They don’t even approach the camps for fear of violence.
We had two village shops, about two miles apart, who have now both recently closed due to theft and still our council is allowing more and more unauthorised camps to be built.

In the area where I live we used to have police on the streets, we knew their names, they used to be outside schools not to arrest or intimidate children but so the kids got to know them.
They used to pop into local shop to see if the shop keepers were having issues, they attended events in the park, they brought their dogs, the lock up van and police cars so the kids could sit in them.
If their were issues in the community they could go and have a chat.
Now we don't see any police at all except when they go flying around in police cars.
Such a shame, because their presents was comforting.
They used to give lovely hugs too

So, Sadiq Khan is 'responsible' for the MET, right? He's killing businesses and pubs (& likely tourism) and would rather have London celebrate Pakistan Independence Day than St. George's Day ... and then there's Rowley, who would rather write an academic paper than do any practical police work ... and then there's Starmer & Co.'s Stasi where it concerns native Brits, and the Appeasement Administrators where it concerns military-aged men from adversarial countries (and religions) invading by DINGHIES, of all things -- and then there's the justice system, which has been downright shocking over the past couple of weeks ... good grief, cousins! We're dealing with much the same throughout our current administration in the US, and it must stop. We all need to vote better, yes. No matter what, though, we must never, never, never allow ourselves be silenced. Never surrender, and Godspeed, UK.

Now we cannot go out at night walking the dog or jogging, it would be insane to do it, now, even going out in daytime is dangerous. Normal everyday tasks involving going out alone are eroding into dust. Most of all, is there ever a policeman when you need one.????

It’s not the knife that is the problem, it’s the people using them. You could ban all knives and these people would just use clubs instead. I can’t see this making any difference. I’ve lived in some incredibly rural places in the UK where most of the adult population carry knives legitimately a lot of the time because they work either fishing or in forestry or whatever. Nobody ever gets stabbed there.

The things are locked up in enclosed cabinets safer than any criminal in a secure prison. Thanks to bizarrely draconian laws regarding the sale of a legal product. Basically an attempt by Governments to make the sale of the item as inconvenient as the purchase. An item that brings in billions in tax duty revenue a year for the country.
