Did our first tour in Spain last year,rode the Picos for a week, stopped at that petrol station and your right it’s got a good cafe there.Absolutely fantastic roads ,scenery and hospitality booked to go again this year 🇬🇧😃
Many years ago, I was stopped by police for crossing the white line to go into a lay-by, I was unaware of the law then. They weren't happy with me, the police can be a bit grumpy, but let me off with a warning. Definitely good to get this info out there. By the way, Hostales in Spain are small hotels.They aren't like hostels in the UK with dorms and bunkbeds!! 🙂 Riaño is a gem!
Does this happen in other countries that drive on that side of the road? It's a long time since I've driven abroad but planning another trip hopefully in the next year or two. France & Italy (and maybe others) though, rather than Spain.
Hi there we're looking at doing a week in Spain next year & would like to camp to save on accommodation costs. I've had a look on Google maps for campsites but I can not see any listed for the centre of the country, I can only see them on the north coast, the boarder with France & some on the south coast. Am I doing something wrong.........HELP!!!!!! Also what are the rules on wilsd camping?
I would much sooner have to deal with the Spanish Police than those in the UK. When I lived in Spain they had a few reasons to stop me for a chat! Always found them very reasonable!

Hi, there should be plenty of campsites! have you tried zooming in when using Google maps? and click on the "search this area" button?
Ps, wild camping in Spain is technically illegal!
