And don’t forget that the time distortion element in 40K adds a whole other layer to the story telling here. And from a pure money point of view, with the setting’s growing popularity and mainstreaming (not necessarily a bad thing), GW isn’t going to be stupid enough to kill the golden 40K goose by bringing about some grand finale with health care for every Imperial citizen, and the Astartes becoming unemployed. Love the vid. I must say that I agree with you about the difference between a story and a setting. Perhaps the solution is to have various era's of the Warhammer 40K line. For example, you buy an Eldar codex and it covers the rules and allowable units from the major eras the Eldar have been through from the War in heaven to the modern day. This way, they can do whatever they want with the overall storyline but retain the era’s and their flavors for people to enjoy in their table top gaming. This would also mean that those old favorites that people paid, painted & played would still be viable for play set in their respective eras. Not only that but we can introduce new armies from era’s long passed. Imagine playing an army of mixed Aeldar & Krork units during the War in Heaven as they battle against the terrifying Necrons & their Star gods for control of the galaxy! And, just for fun, because why NOT, have a special set of rules to allow forces from across different era’s to engage one-another in battle! Why? Because it’s FUN, because the warp is twisted indeed and makes the impossible possible. Imagine a detachment of Nobel Emperor’s Children from the era of the Crusade facing down the twisted, self-indulgent tyrants that their legion became after the Scouring post Horus heresy. How much fun would it be to have an army of legendary Krork from the war in heaven extracting a blood debt from modern Drukhari for the crimes committed against the Krork ancestry by the eldar people. Finally (from me)…. A lost colony ship from the Golden age of technology exits the warp over what they thought would be a beautiful world upon which to build a new society, only to find it be-fouled by some group of strange humanoids calling themselves the Mechanicus, who have turned it into a forge world. Clearly this ‘Mechanicus’ are some kind of twisted and evil cult that must be cleared from the world by these colonists and their forces. Just imagine seeing your table filled with an army from the Golden Age of technology standing off against the Cult meachanicus. Think of all the we could all have if GW just embraces the madness and let’s people have FUN!

The story of Masamuni and Muramasa is a tale I hope GW takes to heart in the coming years. For both of these smith's blades were uncompromising in their creation. But one was a wicked blade that cut all it came in contact with, and the other a blade of peace, which cut only that which it needed to. Change is an inevitability of story crafting.. Will they choose the Muramasa Blade as their tool and change with disregard, or will they choose the Masamuni Blade, and change only what needs to be changed? For all of us "Old Ghoul's" sake, I do hope it is the latter.
Battletech has shown that change is not anathema to setting. At least not all change. The jihad and onwards has been mixed at best, but the Star League, Succession Wars, Clan Invasion, and FedCom civil war all have their fans. The problem some people have with 40k is that it is changing at all, but for others, it's the ways they are changing (direction and/or quality of execution), and some are just upset it's changes going forward and not retcons to what they would prefer, or that there isn't enough change. Not to mention, GW sort of wrote themselves into a corner having not just factions, but named characters people have invested not just a lot of effort and emotions into, but lots of money on the models and centered strategies around, so now can't do things like kill them off or have them fall to chaos (unless they respawn like the Avatar of Kane and Swarm Lord, in which case they suffer the Warf effect).
@ There is a scene in “Godblight”, where couple are dropped from an overlord if I remember correctly, I can’t recall how high though. And sadly the rules don’t and have not reflected this. Then again deep striking repulsor executioner would be pretty overpowered.
Although I'm apprehensive about the new tech, I'm far more bothered by the Primaris SM. I think the setting would be fine with some new weapons and vehicles being injected into it. But to alter the geneseed? No. That's going way too far.
I'm hoping that this era of "resurgence" in the Imperium is part of a "long-con." If I were to play devil's advocate, the grim darkness has lingered so long that it to some extent has become meaningless. Rather than let it stagnate we need to renew it and the best darkness is found in the shadows of the brightest light. All this "HEROIC ERA" stuff that is happening now in the setting, mythic beings are clashing for the Imperium, at the end all of that stuff will be gone. The Primarch's will again vanish, the Imperium will resume its crumbling but Chaos will also be put back into check (more Eye of Terror less Great Rift). Basically, all these heroes are gonna kill each other and seeing the Imperium crumbling yet again in the face of what seemingly could have been will drag us all into grim darkness.
It could be a cool thing if it was a cycle that kept on repeating Things are rotting, then seemingly getting better, then getting worse until they stagnate and rot against; this repeating ad finitum until something truly catastrophic ends it all
Don't care if the tank is good or bad, I'm here for the story and lore...and boy... Exactly that's on the menu right now.
Luckily - it’s good. Boom.

I’ll see what I can do. :)
Looks like xenotech to me.
Firstborn: No treads, can't grind enemies underfoot, 0 out of 10
Primaris: The grav drives can crush anything underneath it to dust and slime
FB: ...6 out of 10
😊
Time for humies to get back to daot tech level...and beyond 🐸 psychic awakening going brrr too😎
The story of Masamuni and Muramasa is a tale I hope GW takes to heart in the coming years.
I say the point of the warhammer 40k punchline is it even ends
Grav tanks may not be able to do an orbital drop, but they can be air dropped. Surprise tanks from the heavens are possible.
Music to my ears. I love and learn. Thank you brother Frek. :)
@ There is a scene in “Godblight”, where couple are dropped from an overlord if I remember correctly, I can’t recall how high though. And sadly the rules don’t and have not reflected this. Then again deep striking repulsor executioner would be pretty overpowered.
melty-melty!
I like Baldemort
As long as there’s no female Custodes or Astartes in the Amazon shows I’ll be happy as can be!
Saying 40k will end before a song of ice and fire will was pretty funny. And more likely than not...
Tacos
Bro complaining about only getting 3 tanks when the guardsmen in the Space Marine 2 trailer only got 3 marines.
Although I'm apprehensive about the new tech, I'm far more bothered by the Primaris SM.
I think the setting would be fine with some new weapons and vehicles being injected into it. But to alter the geneseed? No. That's going way too far.
Add a comment...😮
It could be a cool thing if it was a cycle that kept on repeating
Things are rotting, then seemingly getting better, then getting worse until they stagnate and rot against; this repeating ad finitum until something truly catastrophic ends it all
