We should be listing J Cole with the likes of Wayne and Drake for good features as that is more of a fair comparison. I love both J Lamarr Cole and Kendrick Lamar however DOT is in his own lane noone compares artistically with the obvious 3K and EM influence making him a rare gem. When I need to listen to digestible music I go for J Cole and when I need to challenge myself and entire world view I go for Kendrick ❤ Cole's feature run is dope, probably top 3 while Kendrick hasn't done enough features concentrating on classic albums and conceptual artistry🎉
Haven't seen enough people talk about Cole on "Evil Ways" who cares about first person shooter, we had two of the biggest mainstream rappers in their bag 😂 That said these guys did they thing on this song! Fun and kept it rap
12:51 you probably caught it but Bruce Jenner being an Olympic runner could be an additional reference with the “stay tf out my lane” and “avoid the paint” lines (meaning the pain that separates the lanes in these races).
Hey @RobMarkman I respect your opinions man. Keep up the good work. But let's not fall prey to recency bias. Kendrick's features in the last decade put him much ahead and above J Cole. A few examples (notable for the complex execution and musical risks he took on them): 1. Autum Leaves (feat. by Chris Brown) 2. Fight the Feeling (feat. by Mac Miller) 3. Buried Alive (feat. by Drake) 4. THat Part (Black Hippy remix) I respectfully don't see J Cole beating this small sample of Kendrick's genius. Kendrick simply has more range (see his 2 CHainz collab - Momma I hit a lick). Just my $0.02. Keep it 💯 Sir
A decade is 10 years, sir. Take Care came out in 2011. That is 13 years ago. And Kendrick’s features do not touch Cole’s the past decade. i.e. American Dream, A Lot, The London, Johnny P’s Caddy, All My Life, The Secret Recipe, To Summer From Cole, on the street….the list goes on. Oh and A Plate Of Collard Greens is from this decade I think? More range? Those are all different styles. Radio friendly (All My Life) K-pop (J Hope), r&b, lyrical with soulful samples (Johnny P, Collard Greens), club banger (London), street bangers (A Lot, American Dream). C’mon son! “Cole flow is cold in any genre. With many combinations, shoot like that boy sponsored. By Under Armour, reach, you a goner…” I’ll even add Purple Emoji, No Sleeep w/ Janet Jackson and Pretty Little Fears to my list. His r&b collabs are amazing.
@@j02-h4g I think I was wrong to frame it as a recency bias thing. My point still stands that if we did a VERZUZ of their features alone, K dot come out on top.
@@DanieladeyemoYeah man, I disagree. Also forgot to mention Off Deez and Knock Tha Hustle remix. Kendrick has 6 or 7 GOAT features. Cole has like 20. Hell, he’s not even top 3 on 1 Train and Drake got him on Poetic Justice and Fuckin Problems.
Coles features are better than his own discography, and that alone disqualifies him from GOAT conversation for me. You gotta be a great artist and not just a great rapper to be the GOAT. You NEED an excellent discog, and Cole doesn't have that. Too much mid despite his rap ability. I disqualify Em from the GOAT convo for the same reason. The first 3 albums were excellent, and it's been a steep drop-off since even though he's obviously an incredible rapper.
You don’t think Cole has a dope discog? Born Sinner is my favorite. FHD was dope. Might Delete, Off Season, KOD… Friday Night Lights, the Warm Up… I’m not the biggest Cole fan but he was dope projects.
@RobMarkman I think it's solid overall, but pretty much every project has at least a few skips for me, and I rarely find myself coming back to his albums. I love listening to entire albums front to back, and I struggle to do so with Cole's projects. MDL I revisited once or twice, but it just does nothing for me, whereas Lupe's Samurai is something I've listened to front to back countless times since it dropped. Hell, I've listened to DROGAS WAVE front to back alone more times than all of Coles projects combined, and that album is 24 tracks and is 1 hour 40 minutes long. I think Cole is great, especially among today's field, but just not quite GOAT status off discog like I believe Lupe or Kendrick to be.
Obviously theres people like Wayne, 3stacks, Tech n9ne and Cole in the conversation but for me I got Eminem(bars) and Nate Dogg (vocals) as my contenders for GOAT feature artists.
I wish youtubers would stop pushing this goat talk. Its old and burnt. just be happy the real Cole is back. TH-cam reactors who blew up from this goat talk are these only ones still milking it
Bts has worked with so many American artists like Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Jcole, Wale, Steve Aoki, Halsey, Lauv, Charlie Puth, Coldplay, Juice world, Charlie XCX, Latto, Zara Larson, Snoop dogg, Max. This is just some American artists they worked with so far.
@RobMarkman Do you feel that Cole is sending a message with the features that he is choosing? Saw that theory online. I think features should be icing on the cake
Wayne’s feature run is still talked about to this day. We’re not talking about this verse or the daylyt verse a year from now. Also can’t leap frog over Nas - Verbal intercourse, eye for an eye, it’s mine, fast life - Nas wasn’t even 30 when he made those.
Yo Rob, I think you MAY have missed something with the Bruce Jenner line. Cole from the south and we call our aunts, “Aintie”. Idk how to spell it how we pronounce it tho 😂. So the “I’m him, they ain’t” line might be a double E!
Grippy wasn’t bad, but honestly the group thinking behavior in rap blogs is what killed Cobain’s project. The entire grippy song is ass. Most of Cobain’s wave is ass. Instead of keeping it a bean, blogs took the easy route and poured the hate onto Cole. 6 features this year - he’s 5/6. How can one listen to any cobain song and think “my this verse was good?!” Fisher was ass too. When the wave finally disappears NY go treat that man like Designer. That grippy feature from Cole will be the highlight of that man career. And every rap blog ruined it by making it seem like Cole destroyed that weak ass song. Cobain ain’t nun to do with it huh?…
And cole was actually spitting bars on that track lol, is it niggas didn’t like the subject matter??? I think that’s what it was.. I respect the verse tho, shit show his range and how he keep hop on anything and adapt
@@MrASAPAB a lot of people agree, but it’s cool to engagement farm and keep all these weird narratives in the eco-system. Rob’s hella credible, but he’s biased against Cole. Every outlet that screamed on Grippy more than they highlighted MDL exposed themselves. Ain’t seen enough “Cole got his masters.. from Hov” talk, grippy banter everywhere. This year has been terrible for hip-hop if not for Dot curb stomping Drake. Cole dropped an independent mixtape with no marketing/fanfare or lead single. Sold 250k 1st 2 weeks and then the media turned the discussion off because of the beef…
@@kierrickedmond Cole backed out of the battle, that’s all anyone needed. He survived years of Cole makes sleepy music and F-J. Cole chants - he’ll be alright. But pay attention to how easy it was for Pump/Purp to create an entire sub-culture of hip-hop built purely on hating what Cole represents…. Dot just dropped an untitled song and said “Folks don’t hate me, they hate the man I represent.” HAS COLE NOT FACED THE SAME CRITICISM? The difference is the Rob Markman’s, the Justin Hunt’s, the Fantano’s don’t do for Cole what they do for Dot. Capes blowing in the breeze! One min, his college fanbase is losers. The next min he’s preachy. Next, he shouldn’t be rapping about this. Next, he should be protesting more. Oh he protesting, well he ain’t protesting hard enough (Noname). Oh he responded, how dare he (Queen tone)? Kendrick responds on MMATBS - NOT ONE PEEP of backlash…. Funny how that works huh…
On a separate note, can I ask if you would really want Cole to address the beef on The Fall Off like you said? He has been working on this album for 5+ years and it’s highly anticipated, and it seems like it was pretty much finished before the beef. Him diluting the album and detouring from its potential story and message by adding a song or even a verse about the beef may hurt the overall product. I think he should leave the album in its purest form how he originally recorded it, and if he ever does address the beef it should actually be in an interview, as there’s only so much you can get off in a verse.
It’s undeniable that his feature run has been amazing. For me, I rank rappers based on their solo catalogue though. Example, Jadakiss. Amazing rapper. Kills features. His solo albums? Very disappointing. With Cole, to me, he hasn’t had a great album since 2014. He’s had solid albums but, most of his solo catalogue is just ok. He needs to take this momentum from his features, and really have a classic with the fall off. If that album isn’t great, that’s a huge ding against Cole for me. So to answer the question, no he’s not the goat just from features. PS: the talk of “scared to be in the paint” etc etc, he backed out against Kendrick. If you’re not willing to prove it, stop talking like that.
I love Cole.. Been in my top 2 active for a decade.. But those “I’m the best” type bars just don’t hit the same to me right now. LOVED that feature with Daylyt. This one just didn’t hit the same to me
Jay-Z and Jadakiss are 2 quick names I can come up with that have better features. J. Cole might have the title for the current generation, but not all time.
Feature GOATS? I’d put Weezy at the top, then Busta Rhymes, 2 Chains and Cole can fight for the other slots. Unless you’re talking about recent years, then I could see Cole 💯
Cole don't care lol he just going to run up these features sell his albums and retire and still will be one of the GOATS and Cole don't have to address sh*t.
Y'all really sleeping on Drake features...Sicko Mode Pop That I'm on One Ashton Martin Music Versace Remix Going Bad No Lie......y'all tripping he really the goat feature artists out of the big 3 then Kendrick of his Control Verse and Like That verse alone...all Cole does is rap well on a feature while everybody else does the heavy lifting like on FPS. @@Justcallmenoon what's wild about that? Wayne isn't really putting out consistent music anymore. Cole is still going and more relevant then ever and improving as each feature comes out. No shade to wayne hes still #1 with features but Cole is catching up
Cole maybe not even top 5 all time. Hov, Wayne, Drake, 3K the top 4 easily. If the J Cole today was the J Cole we were introduced to on his debut album then maybe he’d be all he say but unfortunately he lamed out on the first two for commercial success. Likely the label doing but it is what it is.
Amongst the big 3, Drakes might be the most impactful for the rapper who features him, but If we’re talking about the most lyrical he’s the best among the 3 of them. Dot rarely ever does features and even when he does it doesn’t have that as much impact as the others. So Cole might be the GOAT of features when it comes to rapping this era. And yeah the battle was between 2 rappers, can’t hold a man that stopped rapping and went to play basketball in Africa to the same standard as the others. I feel he’s the most truthful to himself and people have to respect that
Cole keeps it professional bout his features like he always fits what the song is doing

From what I hear, their relationship will be fine.
COLEWORLD 🥶
I respect your transparency and introspection on your videos. However you approach your content moving forward, just your thoughts are pretty insightful.
Cole rapping at a higher level than all of his peers
I’m pretty sure he is going to address the battle situation when “The Fall Off” documentary come out.
I think Cole is the goat OF features for sure. He gotta clear some things up before we can say he the goat overall
Interesting. I’m not mad at you… his features are crazy. But i gotta give it to Wayne and a few others ahead of him
@RobMarkman speaking as of lately for Cole. Gotta agree with the Wayne take though 100% . We need another run like that in hip hop
Haven't seen enough people talk about Cole on "Evil Ways" who cares about first person shooter, we had two of the biggest mainstream rappers in their bag 😂
That said these guys did they thing on this song! Fun and kept it rap
Showing up in the same fit as Drama and French Montana is crazy
Feels like everyone forgot the Grippy feature 😂
Looks like Cole has been killing features better than Drake’s 100 gig run. Thoughts 💭?
Cole world period. Never seen a doper artist, be mad idc.
We not mad lol
If shots get to poppin', I'm the one doin' the clenchin'
I came up in the 'Ville, so I'm good when it's tension
Respectfully to Cole, he’s still got a ways to go to catch Wayne as the GOAT of doing features.
he is nowhere near weezy in my opinion : rap wise weezy is a totally different animal...
12:51 you probably caught it but Bruce Jenner being an Olympic runner could be an additional reference with the “stay tf out my lane” and “avoid the paint” lines (meaning the pain that separates the lanes in these races).
Luda has a nice run.. different gen
Luda did. Wayne is probably the feature goat. Jadakiss is up there
9:24 I put him 2nd to 3 stacks, for R&B Nate Dogg
I think the real question is, is J. Cole the GOAT of features?
Is he? I say Wayne
@@RobMarkman for sure he's up there. Wayne on Jadakiss' Deathwish is one of my favourite verses ever.
Hey @RobMarkman I respect your opinions man. Keep up the good work. But let's not fall prey to recency bias. Kendrick's features in the last decade put him much ahead and above J Cole. A few examples (notable for the complex execution and musical risks he took on them):
1. Autum Leaves (feat. by Chris Brown)
2. Fight the Feeling (feat. by Mac Miller)
3. Buried Alive (feat. by Drake)
4. THat Part (Black Hippy remix)
I respectfully don't see J Cole beating this small sample of Kendrick's genius.
By Under Armour, reach, you a goner…”
I’ll even add Purple Emoji, No Sleeep w/ Janet Jackson and Pretty Little Fears to my list.
Holy shit how could I forget Boblo Boat. He’s got so many gem features I’ve lost track.
Delete this shit asap . Dot will disagree himself 🤡
@@LDH777 i feel you. We all have our preferences. I respect that tho. Lupe is an incredible lyricist
Obviously theres people like Wayne, 3stacks, Tech n9ne and Cole in the conversation but for me I got Eminem(bars) and Nate Dogg (vocals) as my contenders for GOAT feature artists.
I think Cole will address pulling out, but probably not for a long time. If he keeps dropping bars like this, I’ll let the other stuff slide. 🙂
He paid homage with biggie flow and mase flow listen to how he breaking his flow down I get biggie vibes
I hear it now! He definitely was spitting like Biggie and paid homage using the Ma$e hook. You have a great ear
Krit ft Cole was my favorite
Maaaaaybe? I dunno. 🤔 Feel like that may be a stretch but I’ve also been wrong before. Only Cole knows.
How can one listen to any cobain song and think “my this verse was good?!”
Fisher was ass too. When the wave finally disappears NY go treat that man like Designer. That grippy feature from Cole will be the highlight of that man career. And every rap blog ruined it by making it seem like Cole destroyed that weak ass song. Cobain ain’t nun to do with it huh?…
Bro… I couldn’t agree more
And cole was actually spitting bars on that track lol, is it niggas didn’t like the subject matter???
@@TeezyfolKKz I have to give you props because everything you said has been completely factual
Cole is one of the GREATEST......But will forever remain at number 3......and i think he is OK with that
Okay 3rd greatest of all time ,behind Nas and 3k
@@japhtymedotmed6343😂😂😂😂😂
@@japhtymedotmed6343 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.....stop it
On a separate note, can I ask if you would really want Cole to address the beef on The Fall Off like you said? He has been working on this album for 5+ years and it’s highly anticipated, and it seems like it was pretty much finished before the beef. Him diluting the album and detouring from its potential story and message by adding a song or even a verse about the beef may hurt the overall product. I think he should leave the album in its purest form how he originally recorded it, and if he ever does address the beef it should actually be in an interview, as there’s only so much you can get off in a verse.
Doesn’t necessarily have to address it on the fall off no. I just think he will. I feel like he re worked the album a bit. But that’s just a guess
Probably add to his last track maybe to address it
Still waiting on features with dot, dave east, and Lecrae
For my generation cole is like 08-11 wayne run with features
does cole have a classic album?
Yeah. FHD for sure.
Depends on how you define classic
Kendrick a clown no one listening to watch the party die, we talking Abt Cole now
@@BharaDaFundraiser Cole a clown for talking like he the goat, and running. Then gave some BS excuse me. He’s the clown.
I love Cole.. Been in my top 2 active for a decade.. But those “I’m the best” type bars just don’t hit the same to me right now. LOVED that feature with Daylyt. This one just didn’t hit the same to me
I’m glad that I don’t like jewelry! So I feel no pressure whatsoever to keep up with peers etc. I do me and I’m totally fine with that….
Beautiful way to live truthfully. The only way to live
Normally j.cole easily has the best verse ,i think this one is pretty even
One last rapper to kill in a feature. Kendrick Lamar
until the elephant in the room is addressed, it's difficult for his bars to be impactful. was the last 5 years of Cole just shadow boxing rap?
Respectfully, Cole talking tough doesn’t hit the same anymore
Schoolboy Q has always been the most consistent at guest verses for me but I know he won’t get his flowers.
Wayne and Drake are the feature goats
I’d guess that Cole is going to address backing out the beef with half a bar…..
I disagree, he don't have to address anything. He making music and that's enough for me.
Wayne is the feature goat. 3000, Kendrick, Cole, Hov
Cole don't care lol he just going to run up these features sell his albums and retire and still will be one of the GOATS and Cole don't have to address sh*t.
Honestly might delete later in his discography feels weird as a Cole fan didn’t really connect nor think it should’ve really existed
We have never seen a better feature run ever.
People give grippy to much hate. Cole serves the songs he features on. Cash cobain verse and song was trash so cole verse made a fitting verse imo😂
Lol
Y'all really sleeping on Drake features...Sicko Mode Pop That I'm on One Ashton Martin Music Versace Remix Going Bad No Lie......y'all tripping he really the goat feature artists out of the big 3 then Kendrick of his Control Verse and Like That verse alone...all Cole does is rap well on a feature while everybody else does the heavy lifting like on FPS. Cole verse dont ring in the clubs like Drake Versace verse nor are his verses as impactful and talked about like KDot Control verse.
Nate Dogg is the feature goat 🐐
Without a doubt Cole is the feature goat
What’s his best feature?? Does he have a top 20 feature of all time? Stop it lol
love Cole but lil wayne is the goat of features his run was unstoppable right into carter 3
Only way j cole is the goat is if no other rapper existed
Keep the name lol it's what it is now
Goat from features no way first off this killing features thing from any artist needs some serious debunking most the times they are hearing the other persons verse before they do theirs thats like fighter knowing every move you do beforehand it should be easy top it or surpass it then ppl hear the record and be like man he killed him 😂😂 yea he had the advantage to do so and that's why some of your artist don't Collab cause ppl say this stuff 🤦🏿♂️
hes good at features, but no classic album. next.
I think 2014 FHD is a classic but Cole needs a better album to be in my top 10. He definitely lacks power when it comes to albums.
FHD is a classic for sure
@@RobMarkman ahhh idk. its a classic for the 2010s fs. but all time? hmm i might need some convincing 😅
Robinson Brian Rodriguez George Johnson Thomas
might delete later aoty
Cole don't have to address sh*t and I hope he doesn't because anything he says will make it worst lol
Wayne feature run is more impressive if we being honest Cole is top form but he ain’t super saiyan blue 😂
Only difference is Cole is still going and showing to be the best lyricist in the game. He has potential to surpass wayne
@@ogmac5651Wayne’s verses ehile lyrical he’s just spewing words. That’s the difference between Em, 3K, & Cole from him. Wayne just be talking. He’s spitting but man there is no substance. Just rhymed words.
@@ogmac5651 not a chance the rap feature king is Weezy f baby please don’t be wild with the takes😂
@@Justcallmenoon what's wild about that? Wayne isn't really putting out consistent music anymore. Cole is still going and more relevant then ever and improving as each feature comes out. No shade to wayne hes still #1 with features but Cole is catching up
yeah thats cuz hes ultra
Cole maybe not even top 5 all time. Hov, Wayne, Drake, 3K the top 4 easily. If the J Cole today was the J Cole we were introduced to on his debut album then maybe he’d be all he say but unfortunately he lamed out on the first two for commercial success.
Likely the label doing but it is what it is.
I think Wayne, 3000, Jadakiss, and Jay Z are definitely better feature rappers than J Cole. Recency bias has yall forgetting A LOT.
I feel he’s the most truthful to himself and people have to respect that
Not even fucking close. Who gives a shit about jcole.
