- BUILDING NEW MILLS MILL No2. More landforms, paint and scatter.
Another landforms video this week, as I have to mould this current section into all the areas round and about. It’s been ‘doing a bit of this’ and discover something else needs doing too. Almost there. Take a look at the video you’ll see how much progress has been made. Enjoy!

Well YET ANOTHER BIG IMPROVEMENT AND IT IS COMING ALONG VERY NIBLEY ...AWAIT NEXT UPDATE...WELL DONE JOHN
Superb Design work John. Thinking out of the box again.
Thanks Allan, glad you like it.
Model railways are always in change mode. Ripping out , adding new , relocating or repurposing. This is what makes model railways fun. It least it was for me when I had a layout 50 years ago. By the way what do you teach in your job? Bill from California
Hello John, really enjoying your videos and you have given me lots of ideas especially like the lift out sections for access 👍
Thank you Deano, so very kind of you to say. I got caught out quite badly few years ago regarding access. On a previous layout I had to rip out a large covered section, as trains suddenly started derailing, and I had to drag stock out of tight tunnels.
Good progress on this video John. I like the way the New Mills area is taking shape. Thanks for the update on the water, that was very useful. Always plenty to do on a model railway. I’ve been sorting some track issues this week before starting my new corner scene. Thanks for sharing. Roy.
Cracking job John.
Love. Your N gage layout.
Looking good so far John 👍👍👍
Excellent John another good update. Yeah get your foliage settled before your water pour. I was disappointed with the magic water that you used as it shrinks so much. I only use wws now as it seems the best. Anyway good luck with whichever one you choose. Atb Andy
Ill leave it for a while Andy see what happens. The big brand water resin would cost me around £80-90, so trying Craft resin possibly with mica poweders if not shiny, or chalk perhaps. We see.
Hi John - very clever in having all the sections lift out to give access to the hidden track and point sections. Removal of that bit of sky background and then blending both side together - looks much better if I'm honest 😊. All coming together - excellent stuff. Cheers Euan
Thank you Euan, I guess gone a bit overboard, but have also been caught quite badly with poor access, so its become a bit of a priority. The sky did need to be removed, it looked odd as it didnt link to anything. I agree it looks so much better without.
Hi John,
Its so good to see you being able to get on with your builds again and these parts will set of New Mills and the railway very well and with the building in place when you build it with the river flowing by a super scene indeed well done. Keep well,
building and filming for us all so we can enjoy it all.
Cheers Robert.
Glad you like it Robert. I have to get the area moved on first to see how it all fits together and therefore how much space is available. Just sorting the tracks now, although probably wont take trains up towards the tunnel as there is no way to cross back over lines for a returning train. If that makes sense?
Good to see the area for the Mill all slotting into place. I think the removal of the back scene will really help that part of the layout. That whole area is going to look very good when it's finshed. Stephen
Thank you Stephen, I think scene needed to be removed as it just looked odd. Hopefully everything will come together as time goes on.
Hi John, it’s coming together quite well. Regarding the water, will message you.. All the best , Chris
Thanks Chris, glad you like it
Got to love a good fiddle! I had similar problem yesterday figuring out the new tunnel and how to lift off to gain access to the track underneath so did the same thing by leaving one set of tunnel portals off the lift out as it was so fiddily to put back on. I agree with you in the removing of that back scene - it looks much better now. Shame about the aqua magic as well - weird were it all goes to - possible evaporation perhaps? It will be interesting to see how the resin pour takes on in comparison. Keep up the good work I will be eagerly awaiting the progress.
Regards
Steve
Sounds interesting regarding your tunnel. I chose to leave the portals attached to the lift off sections, so I can get the desired look around each portal. Yes the sky backscene did need removing, I think itll look so much better in the long run.
Regarding the Aqua magic, could be, who knows. I thought it was a silicone based product, but Ill just leave it a while see what happens, add more if required etc
Looking very good. Looks better without the sky background at New Mills. From certain angle it will look like the sky is in the distance like real life. Have you got a crane for the layout - I'm very troubled that your little people will not be able to rescue the stranded coach without it!
Lol, the stranded coach has been incredibly helpful, judging the clearances. To remove it though will be the hand of the god, lol
Coming together John, were in passenger injured in the train crash at 14.06? My daughter helped with the resin pour, a small butane torch helped to take out all the air bubbles in an instant.
Hi, thank you for your kind words. No train crashes in this video Chris, perhaps you saw one in a different video
@@piccadillymodelrailways Sorry John looked like a loco to the left of the picture at 14.6 with a yellow end.
