I had the same thought today! Well, yes, she sang it already 1963. Today I have been singing it throughout the day. Its a good feeling - soothing. Thank you Joan!!! I am from Germany, Berlin! :)
The greatness of soul speaks for itself. The beauty and brilliance of her heart, of her soul, says everything we need to know about her unshakable calling for the Light to overcome the shadow in humanity. And she has the magic power of touching the very best we may have inside. This is the job she chose since she was a child . She keeps doing it with incredible beauty at her 78s. May we deserve to have her with us for the years ahead. God bless Joan Baez, forever.(Sorry for my broken english. I´m brasilian )
Have you seen those innocent and humble faces to claim peace and to be heard, all singing together this beautiful song? It's overwhelming. How come the US people has learn so little not to say anything from their history so far?
Yes of course every Black American was brave but my God to be white and stand morally correct during this time... must not be overlooked or unacknowledged. Thank you to our brave white asian Hispanic indigenous folks who stood shoulder to shoulder that grand day💔💔💔💔💔💔💔🙌🏾
@@unexpected8166 Both the civil rights movement and the anti-war movement were against the same enemy- those who profit of misery, oppression, hatred and war.
This songs still goes for December 14, 2018! We shall overcome of being fearful of speaking up when it comes to God's people and our health & wellbeing being poisoned!
I’m sucking back the tears. This is the America that hits me in the gut and overwhelms me with emotion. There may be some nostalgia mixed in but probably not as I was only 2 in 1964. I’m damn proud of #MoreOfUs.
Very difficult to believe that after all that has happened that there is so little real progress. There is in the heart of the human a desire to destroy based on a fear that is unnatural.
We shall overcome We shall overcome We shall overcome, someday Oh, deep in my heart I know that I do believe We shall overcome, someday We shall be alright We shall be alright We shall be alright, someday Oh, deep in my heart I know that I do believe We shall overcome, someday We shall live in peace We shall live in peace We shall live in peace, someday Oh, deep in my heart I know that I do believe We shall overcome, someday We are not afraid (oh Lord) We are not afraid (oh Lord) We are not afraid, today Oh, deep in my heart I know that I do believe We shall overcome, someday We shall overcome (oh Lord) We shall overcome (oh Lord) We shall overcome, someday Oh, deep in my heart I know that I do believe We shall overcome, someday
Back in 1964/5 (can't remember the exact year now!) this was sung during morning assembly at my traditional red brick English grammar school instead of the normal hymns. Sadly, it doesn't seem to have done much good.

some who don't fight, never have freedom... sad to say
War??? Its not meant for war!? It was meant for the civil rights movement, especially for the freedom of the black people.
