I agree Michael, Takauji was symbolized as a demon with multiple eyes and him drawing Buddha inside a multiple eyed demon's maw... is so dark and makes me wonder if he senses Tokiyuki's light growing stronger.

Kamakura was the seat of the shogunate 400 km east of Kyoto, near today's Tokyo. Kyoto, ( is also called Kyo ) the center of culture and aristocracy in the west, and Kamakura, the center of military power and samurai politics in the east. Ashikaga was trying to control these two major centers. Suwa is located in the east between these two cities, and is a cold region surrounded by high mountains of 3,000 meters in height.
The God's Crossing at Lake Suwa, although a natural phenomenon caused by the volume of ice being larger than the volume of water, it has believed to be a footprint of a male god going to meet a female god on the opposite shore. It is a phenomenon seen only at Lake Suwa in Honshu, Japan. It was already known over 1000 years ago and was used in poetry of the time as a way of expressing love. It has been recorded almost every year since 1443, 100 years after the setting of this show. Modern Japanese are informed of its occurrence on TV news. The most recent occurrence was in 2018.
