Man I miss these buses here in Montreal. I remember well the light blue interiors with the little side windows and top windshield glass being green. What a trip!

OMG! I remeber these old GM busses. They were the best and a great riding experience. My aunt works for TRI-MET in Portland OR where I live. She told me they retired all the GM fishbowls in 1992 >:| Best busses ever built.
    Jason.

Tri-Met in Portland Oregon is still running their 1992-1994 30 and 40 foot Flxible Metro's along with a hand full of their 1990 40 foot Gillig Phantoms as of early in May of 2009.

I agree you have a great idea, and you are 100 percent right. I rode this bus in Montreal.

Nice vid! Brings back memories of when this bus (24-106) was here in MTL! I actually rode it back in the 80s. Nice stuff!

The Ex-Montreal buses they got were made in 1978 according to the TTC website.

It sucks that in the U.S. these buses are banned for not being wheelchair equipped. Here in Detroit D-DOT retired some of the GM/MCI Classics and gave the rest to Windsor Transit. These buses live forever.

Incidentally, for anyone wondering, I'm the guy in the sunglasses.

Yes, but there are not as many. You can find the remainder of them on peak-hour runs, though. Be sure to come down here before the fall of 2013.

No. They were not. Someone placed a lawsuit on D-DOT concerning why the buses had non-working wheelchair lifts. Some drivers were purposely ignoring handicap people to avoid the lifts. As a result, all buses with no lift were retired from the fleet. (GM/MCI Classics, Nova RTS Classics, GM/MCI Articulated). The 1992 New Flyers are the oldest buses still in service.

At least you guys in Montreal are lucky still got more crapload of MCI/Nova Classics than other cities in Canada.

except for the brown seating that the TTC put in, the rest of the bus looks and sounds great still. Too bad it's now gone... Does anyone know if those signs below the windows are still written somewhere in French?

To comply with that they should of made a paratransit service to service the handicapped and walking challenged, or increased it.
