I bought a farm 4 years ago. I knew nothing about farming before then. I have learned a lot from your channel. Here's the question: No soil tests have been done. Not a penny of lime, potash, etc. has been applied. I have two years left on my contract with this farmer. I did not know to put this in the contract. We are on a 75%/25% arrangement.
    What would you do?

If you haven’t been banding K or P with the planter then you have been stripping the soil of nutrients and yield will be most likely be going down every year. The first place to start is soil tests. You’re blind without it.

Guys at the end you mention some reasons to put fertilizer on with the corn planter even if it shows you down. One reason I have not heard before is that corn dries down faster in the fall if you place a lot of fertilizer with the planter. How often have you seen that? And why does it work that way?
