That’s correct, the whistle is from the bumper/grommet design like in the 2023 Prestige…Great final review👌Regarding one handed backhands, I found this racquet requires a purposeful swing and prefers spin over a flatter backhand, my one hander launched if I didn’t try to really rip it, Extreme Pro, Prestige Tour, Vcore 95, Pro Staff 97, Aero 98 and Speed Pro which I play with, all those don’t really demand me to hit my backhand ‘perfect’ like I felt the Gravity 98 did..forehands stayed down no problem and felt sensational
Yes, and I love the sound. On top of that, upon ball contact within the relatively large sweet spot, it gives a satisfying “thump” that is very nice. And it feels good as well.
From what I heard I agree this looks similar to the newer version of the speed mp, with good stability and feel but also quite hefty, powerful and lots of spin
If you generate enough racquet head speed, any racquet will make a whistling sound. The last time I watched the UTR 9+ level when they hit the forehand, I could hear the "fzzz/wzz" sound before the racquet hit the ball. I have done it sometimes during practice, too, although I'm not at that level.
A thin beam & low SW combo isn’t supposed to be powerful, but this one is. As Brandon asks at 8:23, what’s the secret sauce? You guys already pointed to the open string pattern. I’m wondering if another ingredient might be a high twist weight. Can you measure this on your copy?
Probably one of the more in depth discussions of the Gravity 98. What are your thoughts on pairing the Gravity with something like Solinco Confidential to take some power out of it, lower the launch angle and generate more spin ?
I am pretty sure it’s gonna work in terms of lowering the power and keep the balls in the court. And gravity has a pretty good connection to the ball so even with the dead feel of the confidential, I think it’s still gonna be acceptable.
@@nakmuay5034 compared to Restring Zero I think the launch angle will come down ever so slightly, at the very least it would put more revolutions on the ball to get it to dip more at the end of its flight
Played with it for an hour yesterday and i managed to adapt to the launch angle quite quickly, by making minor tweaks on my forehand. 1HBH was very very nice, consistently reaching the directions and spots i want.
you, brandon, briefly mentioned wilson ultra pro. what’s your thoughts on that racket with regards to power. is it a racket that gets easily pushed around if you are not on it?
i play with RF97A and it's addictive, because i cant find anything similar in terms of power/control/stability balance. Is this 98 at least a bit similar to RF97A?
I’m surprised that nobody thinks it’s similar to the Elevate 98, which also has a crazy open string pattern? I’ll have the chance to hit with this one very soon so I’ll figure out myself…
I play with the Extreme Tour (98) and the current V-Core 98...I have to put on stiff strings at 52 pounds since its a 16x19. For my Gravity Tour 100 (18x20), its not as string dependent and the perfect tension for me is 48#. I'm really looking forward to testing/buying the Gravity 98... hoping it will solve what the Gravity Tour 100 is missing at the net.
@@Chim1012 Sorry..just to recap what you are saying: you can decrease the swing weight of a racket by adding more weight on the handle and that is easy to comprehend... correct?
Yonex racquets generally have better QC for weight and balance. However, their swingweights can also be all over the place. Best to buy from retailers with a spec measuring service. Or one that allows returns easily.
Yonex QC might not be as good as people praise-or maybe I’m just ‘lucky.’ Out of 6 Yonex rackets I purchased, only one was on spec. The rest were way off. Three Ezone 98 rackets had strung swing weights between 305-308.
@@farood5 I wouldn’t say it’s a lot less powerful than Speed MP. If any, just slightly. The string spacing seems to be a perfect copy from the Speed MP.

Awesome summary of this frame guys!! As I played with it, you speak totally my words. Saving money for this one already 😀

It is different kind of whistling. Tried it and you’ll know what we’re talking about.
Would love to string this with ReString Zero + Toroline Wasabi X
Brandon provided some nice conversation.

Have you tried adding weight to the handle to see how it affects the racket?

Underpowered frame. Yes it got push around. Nice and soft feeling tho.
Is it more powerful than the Furi Arma Pro 98? They're similarly shaped, similar weight, similar open string pattern.
I never tried that so can’t comment

I’m not going to string it so we will never know hahaha

@@curiousgeorge6921 I don’t think Brandon will string his as well. It’s very pricey I decided to keep it this way, unfortunately. ;(

Sounds like its similar to the new pure strike , which I thought was really good
What’s the comparison in comfort level with Extreme Pro?
More comfy. After playing with Gravity 98 and switched to Extreme Pro right away, the latter feels like a toy.

Adding weight to the handle to make it swing faster ? How does that make any sense ? Someone please explain
Think about a Hammer, how hard is to swing. That because de weight is too far from the point your hands are
It will make the balance more head lighted. That way it will allow the racket head to go around faster.
@@tantennis why? The racket is heavier

Lol what happened at 12:57 😂
Should have made it 18x19, which would have lowered the launch angle.
318 and 331 are two complementary different rackets! This would never happen at Yonex, the only racket with it's OWN factory!
Yonex really is the best at QC
