Thank you, Malcolm!
A wonderful insight into how the Impressionists interpreted colour Malcolm. I luv how the Impressionists captured shadows. The violets look so much better than black. The videos in this series are pure gold, many thanks for posting them Malcolm.
I’m really enjoying this series, thank you Malcolm, the more I watch your videos, the more I practice and things begin to “click”. Ever so grateful 😘 looking forward to the next one!
This is a great series of introductory videos that introduce and explain impressionistic painting .Each video is a treasure box of condensed information about the impressionist painters and what they are attempting to present in their paintings. I appreciated learning about the science behind pairing complementary colors beside each other. Your perspective of pointillism was also helpful. I now understand that the type of painting we are doing when following your courses and instructions is a contemporary use of impressionism. Thank you again for a great lesson video.
Form Brasil.
Malcolm, thank you for this. As always, I learn so much from you. I have your class "Paint Like an Impressionist" and I love it. But this is also so useful.

Inspiring.
😄 I hope that came out correct.
Just for anyone who can't quite justify the expensive artist paints, Lukas has their artist range that it is relatively inexpensive and they are by far the best I've found for workability straight out of the tube, better than Windsor and Newton which are much more expensive. I haven't noticed the colours to be much less vibrant too, they are probably the best price / quality balance I've found.
Am I correct in thinking that a square brush works better for impressionist painting than a round or filbert style brush?
It seems to be the most versatile. The older one turn into filbert's too 😊
When I'm adding colour on top of other colours I sometimes have trouble getting the top colour to stick , it just doesn't always , yours always seems to though .
It may be the softness of the paint. It must be buttery. Second is the motion of the brush must be quick and light so as not to pick up the under layer. Finally no mediums or very little as they make the paint slippery.
Thank you ,I'll try that . I've stopped using mediums completely except for when I sign my paintings at the end.
Thank you so much,Malcolm for sharing your knowledge with we beginners. Fant.astic à d encouraging
Art like music is supposed to elicit an emotion. Impressionism really gets my inspiration flowing. Some of the paintings are just amazing with the use of colour.
The old masters do nothing for me despite their technical mastery.
Thanks Malcom for reawakening my artistic desire again.
Excellent. Enjoy it.
