  • SoccerBeat returns with another stunning episode of What’s Hot with Peter du Toit and former player turned “Super Agent” Lance Davids as the guest, to discuss the intricacies of the soccer transfer market.
It’s been a busy transfer season for Davids and his clients at Football First, with Oswin Appollis’ failed move from Polokwane City to Kaizer Chiefs or Mamelodi Sundowns being amongst the most talked about right until the very last moments of the transfer window.
Why didn’t they manage to get that deal over the line?
The conversation highlights the challenges faced by agents in the PSL in particular, the importance of player valuations, and the emotional aspects of the transfers for players.
Davids shares insights on how he motivates his players when things don’t work out, and emphasises the need for transparency in the dealings - which often paint the agents as the bad guys.
The episode concludes with a call for a more collaborative effort among all stakeholders to move the industry forward and improve the way deals are done.

Such Transparency, now I understand the role of the Agents and their limitations. Such an insightful interview that is well balanced without pushing a certain agenda of a particular club. Thank you SoccerBeat.

SoccerbeatZA woza woza. On one of your episodes about Appollis interest, I did comment by saying I think Appollis should stay at Polokwane for 1 season. For me it was a smart decision for not going anywhere, he should just focus on improving his game and a right move will come in the next transfer window. So let's not blame the chairman of PLK city or anyone.
    Great episode as always

But do you think that is what Appolis wanted though to stay there i think they just blew his chance to upper his standard of playing

@@refiloelebea16 maybe but maybe not, chiefs is a big club and they still building a team to compete, with him doing great at Polokwane they will be expecting the same performance, so I think he should stay until the next transfer window, and hopefully this failed move doesn't affect his performance

usually players never get back from such failed moves I think he's going to regress & his value is going down he's not going to develop while at Polokwane City

Once again, thank you for such an open interview that provides insights.
As a supporter, I’m sad for Appolis but glad to know Chiefs were in there trying to seal that deal. Him on that wing and Sirino as a 10 would have bene a natural threat to opponents. It seems quite selfish from the chairman but I hope Appollis continues to showcase that he’s a star and hardworker.

A contract is a contract they need him , once they have a replacement they will sell. He must just be professional so he can stay in the national team while waiting for the next transfer window.

Lance is here to change this Agent game in SA, teams should be ready to behave be willing to offer the players the right wages. PLS financials are close to opening up because of Agents like Lance he is correct it for what was not corrected when he was playing I like this

I'm glad Appolis didn't sign for Chiefs , of course he's a good player but overrated , being surrounded by best players makes you look good as he is in Polokwane but better with Bafana because of the best players around , but doubt he would be good for Kaizer Chiefs , unfortunately scouts at Chiefs haven't got an eye for best and exceptional talent for excellent players but always opt for players that are once off's unlike other teams who could spot a player while they are nobodies and bring them to the big stage and create a gem out of them , otherwise they'll remain a milking cow for these teams on average players who are lazy and always shift responsibility and not comfortable with the ball

You couldn’t be more wrong but that’s the thing about opinions. We give them freely, nomatter how off they may be.
Saying Appollis isn’t talent and is just surrounded by talent in a small club like Polokwane City where he’s basically the star there is off. Chiefs would have done well to gain him. He would have paired quite well with the likes of Mduduzi Tshabalala, Chivaviro and Sirino.
It’s actually a great loss to Chiefs more than it is for Sundowns.
Hopefully Chiefs are still when the second window period opens.
