And these kind of places do matter as they remind us about our past and also teach you that science and the modern Indiana Jones are doing their best to chart the past and understand how life and legends were like in the old days! In my young days I did dream about studying Archaeology; but alas ended up with more boring red tape; so watching this did rekindle those dreams from the past. Thanks Indian Ant Jones! What a cool job that would have been, minus the red tape of course! I won't lie I was thinking of Bredon Frazer and the Mummy films at one point too! These works are so important as you have said, helping to explain and uncover the past, total admiration to the teams involved! Our heatwave would have made this especially hot and hard for them, clay is notoriously hard to dog wet or dry, a light mist would have been best would you have guessed! Good to see a Lancashire university making its mark in the world of Herefordshire's archaeology 🙂. The rustic fence going around the dolmen was pretty cool too, very in keeping with the site, rather than some garish metal railings 👍. The interface between the Mesolithic and Neolithic has always intrigued me, that threshold when man began to move from hunter gatherer to farmer. It's been a good few years since I visited the Golden Valley but I remember being very taken with it......I think we visited the splendid Llanthony Priory that day too 🤔. Its amazing what is found at these digs and what history can be discovered. It always fascinates me what could be laying a couple of inches below he surface, that we do not have a clue about. Castlerigg is always one of my favourite spots in the lakes too, what a place and it radiates history and mystery, always blows my mind ever time we visit there, cheers Alan

Wow Tea in Valhalla and Open Minded Wanderer, we think this is a match made in heaven!😊. Two amazing channels with a passion for history, we loved this guys🥰🙌. What a privilege to be at a dig right in the middle of the action! We honestly didn't realise people were allowed to attend these things, we always pictured the area being completely sealed off. The people from Manchester university are doing an incredible job, and were so open to share their findings with the people on the tour. We could see Kat and Cara were in their element!😊👌 My favourite story was the inspiration CS Lewis took from the site for the lion, the witch and the wardrobe!🤩, as soon as Kat said it we thought "oh yes of course!". Shell absolutely loved that book and the film as a child, still have the urge to step into any big old wardrobe we happen to encounter on our travels (you never know when you will discover narnia!😆). Looked like a beautiful day for it guys, omg we have never frozen our drinks either! That's a game changer!🤩👊😁🧊. Fabulous video Ceri and Kat, huge like and support from us as always. I love Artur's stone area. Accidently discovered it when doing a 15mile hike many moons ago. Would love to do a wild solo camp there but it seems kind of disrespectful seeing as it was a burial chamber... but who knows, I mean I did say I'd never camp on a roundabout and look what happened. This was so cool that you got to do this guys, I would have loved to have done this and learn from the pros in the field. Don't you just love how neat archaeologists make their pits! Perfect straight lines and 90 degree corners. Was interesting to hear the guy saying that no one really knows how well covered the cap stone was, I've seen programs that contradict that saying that they were covered completely in soil... But I guess that guys right as all burial chambers in the UK are now fully exposed and the soil has all but gone (thanks grave robbers). Really enjoyed this one guys, thanks.
Good morning and happy Friday Gez, yes wasn't this a treat! As you can imagine Kat and Cara were in their elements, I would have loved to have had a go if I'm honest too! Love the thought that the next scrape of the trowel could unearth something not seen for thousands of years, just amazing! 🤓 ❤️ yea you'd have to be careful camping in the area I guess, but the same goes for any camp in the wild really, be respectful and leave ot as you found it, can't imagine anyone would even know if you pitched late and struck early. Ian said there is a lovley hill a mill up the road, will view's out over the river Wye, we didn't have time to check that out, but can imagine it would be very lovely 👍 Pleased you enjoyed the video, it was an incredible experience, glad to share with you and everyone else 😀 well worth watching out on EH websites for future digs n such. You had a hot day for it though and a great idea of Caras to freeze drinks, I'm going to do that from now on ! Really good to see Arthur's Stone and hear all about the dig from you both and Ian , all so interesting and informative and to see the uni students of Cardiff and Manchester and coming all the way from America here and then finding out that this has never been excavated, so exciting to know what they will find over the months ahead. I love the mythological surrounding the stones, and the history related to a given area. The guided tour proved very informative, having archaeologists on hand doesn’t happen every day. I wonder what else they’ll find in time to come. Great video, keep ‘em coming 🤩🤩🤩

What a nice surprise, the incredible Cara from Open Minded Wonderer on a dig with you guys. Literally nothing could be better! Great work from Cardiff and Man Universities! There is so much to learn from the incredible Cara and it was easy to see how Kat took an instant shine to her, at one point i thought they were going to turf the Uni guys out and start foraging in the soil themselves! Was lovely see. TIV dont freeze drinks prior to departure? Yikes, thats a + point for Cara - point for Tea! Im sure you have already pulled back the surplus with that exceptionally clean shave Ceri. Well, spoiler alert, we did have a stone circle planned for Cara this friday,its getting bumped a week after this beautiful video! No way we can compete in these leagues! These works are so important as you have said, helping to explain and uncover the past, total admiration to the teams involved! Our heatwave would have made this especially hot and hard for them, clay is notoriously hard to dog wet or dry, a light mist would have been best would you have guessed! Good to see a Lancashire university making its mark in the world of Herefordshire's archaeology 🙂. The rustic fence going around the dolmen was pretty cool too, very in keeping with the site, rather than some garish metal railings 👍. The interface between the Mesolithic and Neolithic has always intrigued me, that threshold when man began to move from hunter gatherer to farmer. Kaat your hair is just stunning! Beautiful! You're like Rapunzel, let down your hair. Giggle! I love tours like this and you learn 1st hand from the experts. Cheers to us history geeks! Oh and map geeks too! Love the playful music you chose for the Lake District piece. Ok, what temp was hot to you that day? Presently it's 98 degrees with feels like temps of 104 right now. That's why I don't hike this time of the year for the most part. Too bloddy hot and humid. Just stayed in a little cabin in the woods with a little bit of ac, which is why my video wouldn't load up and it was sooo late today. Interesting video guys! ~RVA~
Log cabin in the woods sounds ideal! We had record breaking temps here in the UK this week 40.2°c in a few places, give or take 🤔 🔥 🥵 cheers to the needs indeed, they were all incredibly friendly and insanely knowledgeable and passionate, really amazing! 🤓

Its amazing what is found at these digs and what history can be discovered. It always fascinates me what could be laying a couple of inches below he surface, that we do not have a clue about. Castlerigg is always one of my favourite spots in the lakes too, what a place and it radiates history and mystery, always blows my mind ever time we visit there, cheers Alan

Wow Tea in Valhalla and Open Minded Wanderer, we think this is a match made in heaven!😊. Two amazing channels with a passion for history, we loved this guys🥰🙌. What a privilege to be at a dig right in the middle of the action! We honestly didn't realise people were allowed to attend these things, we always pictured the area being completely sealed off. The people from Manchester university are doing an incredible job, and were so open to share their findings with the people on the tour. We could see Kat and Cara were in their element!😊👌 My favourite story was the inspiration CS Lewis took from the site for the lion, the witch and the wardrobe!🤩, as soon as Kat said it we thought "oh yes of course!". Shell absolutely loved that book and the film as a child, still have the urge to step into any big old wardrobe we happen to encounter on our travels (you never know when you will discover narnia!😆). Looked like a beautiful day for it guys, omg we have never frozen our drinks either! That's a game changer!🤩👊😁🧊. Fabulous video Ceri and Kat, huge like and support from us as always. Quick true waffle hubby was cooking on the campsite from hell and i forgot i had 3 gas cannisters inside,were he puts coal ontop,there was alot hissing and bangs,then i relised and dragged hubby away,it woke up the entire campsite,and hubbys says as there was 3 gas cannisters his only got 4 lives left debs xx ps and we love cara to bits ,and well done helping her channel.

I love Artur's stone area. Accidently discovered it when doing a 15mile hike many moons ago. Would love to do a wild solo camp there but it seems kind of disrespectful seeing as it was a burial chamber... but who knows, I mean I did say I'd never camp on a roundabout and look what happened. This was so cool that you got to do this guys, I would have loved to have done this and learn from the pros in the field. Don't you just love how neat archaeologists make their pits! Perfect straight lines and 90 degree corners. Was interesting to hear the guy saying that no one really knows how well covered the cap stone was, I've seen programs that contradict that saying that they were covered completely in soil... But I guess that guys right as all burial chambers in the UK are now fully exposed and the soil has all but gone (thanks grave robbers). Really enjoyed this one guys, thanks.
Good morning and happy Friday Gez, yes wasn't this a treat! As you can imagine Kat and Cara were in their elements, I would have loved to have had a go if I'm honest too! Love the thought that the next scrape of the trowel could unearth something not seen for thousands of years, just amazing! 🤓 ❤️ yea you'd have to be careful camping in the area I guess, but the same goes for any camp in the wild really, be respectful and leave ot as you found it, can't imagine anyone would even know if you pitched late and struck early. Ian said there is a lovley hill a mill up the road, will view's out over the river Wye, we didn't have time to check that out, but can imagine it would be very lovely 👍

Great video guys, right up our street and so good to see you both and Cara together , perfect meet up :) That was so interesting and it's great that English Heritage do these tours that you can book and go along. You had a hot day for it though and a great idea of Caras to freeze drinks, I'm going to do that from now on ! Really good to see Arthur's Stone and hear all about the dig from you both and Ian , all so interesting and informative and to see the uni students of Cardiff and Manchester and coming all the way from America here and then finding out that this has never been excavated, so exciting to know what they will find over the months ahead. I love the mythological surrounding the stones, and the history related to a given area. The guided tour proved very informative, having archaeologists on hand doesn’t happen every day. I wonder what else they’ll find in time to come.

What a nice surprise, the incredible Cara from Open Minded Wonderer on a dig with you guys. Literally nothing could be better! Great work from Cardiff and Man Universities! There is so much to learn from the incredible Cara and it was easy to see how Kat took an instant shine to her, at one point i thought they were going to turf the Uni guys out and start foraging in the soil themselves! Was lovely see. TIV dont freeze drinks prior to departure? Yikes, thats a + point for Cara - point for Tea! Im sure you have already pulled back the surplus with that exceptionally clean shave Ceri. Well, spoiler alert, we did have a stone circle planned for Cara this friday,its getting bumped a week after this beautiful video! No way we can compete in these leagues!
