An honest assessment from someone who loves the game enough to be frustrated by it and not afraid to say it. But should you play any game? Only if it is fun and stop when it stops being fun.

Great in depth analysis. I like the game a lot, it's free, I don't have much else to play because I'm bored of all the other games I own and you meet some cool people on here. The new trial has me hooked and if they keep putting out stuff like that I'll be playing for a long time.
Issue is to a very large majority of the gaming population the new mod/new zone will be the only thing useful to them as thats where most of the best equipment and incentives will come from apart from dragon hunts ofc. this renders most of the old zones useless as the equipment is now outdated in these old zones and the boons u can get from old zones arent really that important so seems an insignificance to grind them especially if you a mid level player striving for getting to that end game level. and theres a short cut to the new zone for a few weeks at the start of a new module for lower level players to experience rather than earning there right through questing up the ranks to be there, now they're there and got some new equipment from new zone they only in old zones for selective dungeon unlocks and maybe a few insignificant boons that wont make to much difference to there builds and now those old zones wont offer anything to improve them.
What id like to see is: for them getting the balance right from old and new zones e.g: options to build on old equipment say through professions to keep old gear on par with new gear because you like the old bonus or maybe an option to choose to build on it via resources from that zone raising its item level on par with new equipment or even more specialized bonus.
Why dont they make specialized future events in old zones rendering them not so useless like in barovia lets see some 4 star and 5star tradable bounty hunt posters with the chance of unique mount/comp/fashion/equipment drops etc. Give us reasons to go back to those old zones... i mean... why not!?
Things i dislike also: Out dated events. Time gated wafer thin mods. and if youre end game u will get bored fast. I mean very fast. If you running the end game content it now just feels like an A.D sinc as most of the best drops like new rings or new weapons usually be bound to your account, giving you less incentives in wanting to help others especially if you low on resources as youll struggle to make enough back from the dungeon runs as the reward doesnt come close to the risk of it. The drops you will usually get alot of clash with loot from lockboxes and previous event drops making these companions/mounts etc abit useless as the market is saturated with them, what could help is having sellable loot only strictly to these zones/dungeons. Making an exception for artifact sets ofc as theres usually always a dungeon or trial exclusive set. Or the batiri companion from mpf and thats the direction they should go in. Im not saying every run should be a treasure trove, but just make loot exclusive only to the content u running. It shouldnt be clashing with any other loot tables.
Neverwinter is boring... im waiting for 10thyear anniversary and the mod that will be coming along with it. If nothing major happens in this game. Mod 26 10th year anniversary i think that will be my last mod, but i really hope it isnt...
Its fun for new players meeting new players discovering new dungeons doing those mechanics for the 1st time, discovering a new zone or fighting dragons to get your self to the top. But once youre at the top youll be in limbo. And to get there... the road will be farely long so enjoy it.
But right now... neverwinter is the same old same old. Every mod has the same structure. And well... im bored very bored. The end is nigh.
Bring pvp seasons back it keeps the veteran players sane when waiting for new mods to drop.
We also need a better professions system, as almost everything u can craft is pretty useless Unless its mc weapons which you have a chance of failing to craft that took u weeks of farming to get those materials or millions in dawn shards and whiskers giving you that feeling of wanting to put your foot through your TV after a fail! Im sorry but if u a top level crafter you shouldnt be failing on crafting.
Right now for me neverwinter is shit and boring. Needs a more complex skill tree. Guilds need updating and graphics... etc... and more ways to explore off linea storylines or feel more connected to a storyline/ attachment to certain characters within a module with multiple endings depending on your own actions.
Combat system is best part about neverwinter Its smooth, very! No complaints there.
The game for me is dying and im sad about it. But to a new player yes play it if u like an experience and have a year or two to commit to a video game. But there are many better mmos out there. I just invested to much time in it to quit. But again i think one day soon i just may do that.

Not to be a downer but there are something’s you can only get through the zen store. Hero’s of the realm, or rod of pain. For a couple of examples. Yes people can repost on AH but someone somewhere did have to buy them.
Don’t get me wrong it is most free to play but there are a couple items here and there that you need zen for.
Not to be downer but NW is a dead game, it has been since after Barovia and scaling mess they inflicted, entirely revamp how the system works, half the population left and never came back.
True but are those things actually better than in game alternatives? Or are people just assuming they are because someone spent RL currency on them?
@@anjicat3211 stuff like Dragonfire and the rod of pain are demonstrably better than the other free options in game. #1 does a good bit bit more damage than the free Doohickey and #2 is a 1500 ilvl arti on mythic which is one of the only 3 1500 ilvl in game right now, not to mention it gives 3 offensive stats. Minmaxers want that stuff.
Is this the last time they will bring the Dragonfire to the battlepass reward, probably not. Nor will he arti be the last 1500 ilvl arti. But this creates a sense of FOMO in players, which I guess creates the sense of P2W and makes players open up their wallets to Cryptic.

i have been playing since mod 13 and have left and came back twice in that time. i love the game or the game play anyways. i have not really played in about a month. i bought diablo 4 and played the BETA and i can wait for it to release. i will probably play again but I am done spending real money on the game.

I miss the foundry, best affordable grind since I can't afford to keep buying new gear all the time. I keep hoping to get some Druids and artificers in there but I sense that's a no.
From what has been said in the livestream it's definitely a no on new classes for now, but not necessarily forever 😸

I played this game for a few years, stopped playing I think 2 years ago. My guild disbanded, people moved on, the grind was making it feel more like a job than a game. Once our group went our separate ways the game just wasn't worth it anymore. All that time trying to min-max, testing in the guild, running dragons etc........I remember saving up to get that legendary lion mount, running around a bit and then haven't logged in since.
What a great video!!! Being a player since 2014 and a fan of this game, I really enjoyed this video.

I got started a few hours earlier and so far the combat is the best . It's also challenging from the first minute , which is great
The issue with Neverwinter really is that it makes pretty much no effort to set itself apart from any other mmo out there. Its based on DnD, sure, but IP will only get you so far when you compete against Warcraft.
Combat system? yes, it is fun for a couple hours, hundred hours. However, there is a caveat to it, while the Neverwinter combat system is fun, it is not complex. Realistically, you only ever have to press 8 buttons, if we look at abilities. But then you have World of Warcraft where your rotations can be everywhere from 6 to 17 buttons, and we didn't count intrerupts, defensives and utilities. Neverwinter combat is fast, but basic, whilst Warcraft might be slower, but there is a huge complexity to it and complexity will take you further in most of the cases because the learning curve is bigger.
Now as far as being a free game goes Neverwinter doesn't excel at that either. Guild wars 2 has a permanent free trial which lets you play the whole core game without having to spend a dime. The core game has 25 zones you can explore, with the expansions adding another 30+ ish for a ridiculously small amount of money. The guild wars 2 veterans argue that the core game alone can give you anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand hours worth of content and here is the catch, there is no time gated content, there is no "lets stretch out the mediocrity as far as we can" bs, with only having a set amount of progress you can do towards one thing. The reason why Neverwinter's content is stretched to around 1k hours is because you can't finish it in one go.
This is my 2 cents on the issue, there is just so few reasons as to why Neverwinter would be better than any other mmo that you have available. Unfortunately, everything they do, some other game out there just does it better and Neverwinter only has the IP and its combat to stand for it, the rest is just shallow.

brother, first off new subscriber every thing you just said about this game and especially about pvp in this game sound exactly like my experience in the last 11 or 12 years of DCUO for me. great video I tried this game at launch but it was hard to get my friends from there to stick with it so we all went back to DC. I found this video after getting pissed at a different youtube talking about it is Neverwinter worth playing , and 4 mins in I was like this dude doesn't know crap about this game he barely played it. I appreciate one from a actual experienced player. and from how you talk about it u sound like a fellow experienced mmo-er.
Glad you found what you are looking for as far as information goes1 the main reason i made this video is because 99% of the creators who make them don't know jack shit about the games they talk about! so i decided to make a very detailed one of my own! was getting tired of all thse videos with no real information, just 10 minutes worth of experience.

The amount of work we put in to get that first completion made me realize what I could do if i put my efforts elsewhere. I have done that since then. Is it worth playing? Sure. It's free and something to do. But after 12 totally finished toons, the new mod and dungeons are sooooooooper boring. The grind is real but I've finished my Neverwinter tour, finally. Diablo 4 comes out soon anyway.😊😊😊Thanks for the amazing content as always.

Top Quality Video ! You did covered a lot in that video;) Im returning player.. and must say its esier play for free then ever,upgrad system is way better... ( 6 days daily 1 Mote=1 upgrade) before,when you need 15mil ad for bonding, 15mill for weapon and legendary mount was around 7-8 mill. it was basically impossible to play without spending.. Now its a best time to come back or try out this game!

Bring back the salvage anvil.. toon specific gear and just get rid of companions all together and put those stats on the gear and reimburse players for there companions based on level of companion and fix the bugs and lift the ban on perma ban players and this might help the game
i miss salvage , gear sets aswell! and def need to unban players, i made videos saying everybody needs to be unbanned

As long as you dont get baited by the cash Shop ( witch is not worth 99.9% of the time, its just here to make new players spend money until they realise it wasnt worth) this game is amazing.
And you are right, the combat system is actually a 9.5/10 ( and the .5 is just because i play hr and trappers got deleted in mod 16 )

i played it for a few months. Great game! You can create your own campaign which is +1 against wow. I had an elf with giant two-hand sword. It was pure fun. Mouse control a bit different than other games. You don't have a cursor. Instead a circle in the center of screen. Your char auto aim targets.

great video. I have to disagree with the leveling system. I have leveled a few new characters and I just dont enjoy like I used too. I liked the fact that there wasnt a one path to level and you could play in what ever area you liked most. Now there is a path you have to follow to level and it is like a scenic drive of different areas till you complete those areas.

I played the game a bit for about a week. I didn’t dislike it. It was pretty fun, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Edit: I’d honestly play the game again if they added a Druid. I love Druids

I can’t wait to see the barbarian or guardian fighter have their day. I know they did long ago, but I didn’t start doing endgame content or know what the hell I was doing until the beginning of 2021. At this point, if I max out a wizard, knowing my luck that will be the time they get nerfed. This isn’t a complaint, just that I want my turn in having one of my classes being the best class to use lol.
Also, I know the wizard needed a buff, as they have been probably the worst class to use for a few years. However, I’ve seen people make a wizard in one day, and blow every other class out of the water, so do with that information what you will.

Lots of good content in here and you pretty much nailed it, however, there was no mention of the professions/crafting system. I understand the crafting system was reworked/destroyed what was it, 4-5 years ago, and it is no longer profitable or even enjoyable to most players now. However, I've always like the farming/crafting aspect of RPG's so I still stick with it and it is a way to earn a little extra AD on the AH, which doesn't affect the amount of daily AD you can earn. That being said, I feel they should take another look at the crafting system, not for a complete makeover, but to add things that would be more profitable and diverse. Right now, it is only mastercraft, potions and gems that are even worth craft farming. With the Gond event happening in a couple of weeks, it's been really fun crafting extra regiments for when it drops to either sell outright on AH or use to craft Gond items and sell or use them. This is the only thing that keeps me in this game and logging on several times a day... and running content in between those crafting times.

I would if I could play but it's been down since yesterday ... Honestly looking at the history of the game every single Mod or update was so riddled with bugged that playability was severely compromised for everyone or in extreme cases even lead to players being banned or things being overpowered and abused by those who got away with it. Apparently though it is common practice among ALL game developers to release material that is never tested and is full of bugs to be sorted out later.

Simple answer, NO, reasons, most of the stuff is the same thing with different skins, lack of creativity, lack of balance, not new worthy perks, not cool armor, the new class, the bard, just a rogue with healing powers. The only good things are some of the stories,.but people in this game don't really care about the lore but just builds,.for example, without googling, My cleric healer names is Cadderly Bonaducce, I use the Mist mount with dark gem so the mist look like a blackish smoke so why is that? Who is Cadderly? What he did? Anyway, the only reason I keep playing this are the friends I made during the years since day one of the Neverwinter. God speed and be well

As a long time wow player got bit bored of that game ... but i always come back after many breaks there anyway i find this game back in 2015 played for a week then rage quit it them totally forgot and i give a try before like month ago even less as a free player i manage to get 48k rly fast i enjoy the game and tbh. Huge fan of tmogs and this game offer amazing appearance customization and i enjoy the combat system, so should u play well it is free give it a try , im casual i dont compete with anyone i do my thing and not hurry anywhere :). But at the end of the day im just noob and yeah i dont give a damn about the shop thats for sure :D and about pvp well it is dead and even in wow im not fan of pvp so i dont care about that aspect , idk how was before ppl say it is better or whatever idk.

module 16 was overdone and killed the game to me. Everytime i think of playing neverwinter i remember how shit the tank experience have become since module 16 and give up.
