Hi Nikki, I was a policewomen for years and I became known as the policewoman in the skirt. (We didn’t have dresses). Men would start their shift with me and say how do you plan on climbing fences in that? I said when was the last time you wore a skirt! Turned out it made me feel more feminine in a masculine job. It worked wonders for me. Also I applaud you for this episode. I only wear dresses and sometimes I question myself when I see everyone else wearing separates. I feel more confident than ever after taking your advice. ❤😊

Hey Nikki, this video is a super powerful one. I too am inspired by every video you produce, especially this one. I recently wore a skirt to my local Supermarket and dressed in a very put together way. I was the only one there with this vibe going on. I felt different but more importantly very feminine. We are in the middle of Winter and normally I would only wear jeans. I always have a hard time choosing my outfits and a dress is simply a one stop shop. I also recently bought a lovely dress robe, I found at a Thrift Store and a vintage night gown. When I was a very young girl, I loved to dress up. Whenever I went to a Costume party, I wore a dress and felt amazing, free and beautiful. I am also a hopeless romantic. I say embrace it and let it flow. I am slowly transitioning my crazy unorganised wardrobe to a beautiful one that I can truly enjoy and be at ease with. I am in my sixties and still love the feminine style. When I was a little girl I enjoyed playing dress up and had a love of beautiful things.
Since I began to transform my wardrobe and wear more dresses after your inspiration hit me, Nikki, that I often get asked by people - friends and strangers alike - “oh, you are all dressed up! Where are you off to?” My reply would be “oh, thank you. I’m not gong anywhere particularly. This is just how I like to dress these days ☺️.” Sometimes I get a smile, but sometimes I get a queer, incredulous expression on the asker’s face. I feel so confident and comfortable going out and about in my everyday in dresses nowadays. 🥰 ~mandy
It is going to be a while before I can wear dresses and skirts for a week. I only have one skirt yet. I did challenge myself to wear it today. First time I have ever worn a skirt! I didn't realize I have never worn a skirt before. I've worn a dress a few times but never a skirt. This was a very nice experience though I did find it intimidating a moment or two of the day but I faced the challenge ( all in my head...no bad remarks from anyone) and am still wearing the skirt. I find this skirt so comfortable. I wear jeans mostly. Yesterday I strained my knee and it swelled up a lot today. I realized the skirt would be more comfortable to be in today while my knee shrinks back to normal size. I can't wait to get more dresses and skirts!
I love this video💕. I think this has given me the nudge I needed to embrace the dress. I mainly wear pants to work and jeans on the weekend except to church Sunday mornings. I am going to embrace the challenge of wearing a dress/skirt for a week to see how I feel.

Since Dry Cleaning is not only hard on a garment, its also filled with toxins, do you wash your dresses by hand or how do you care for them?

Last year I did a challenge like this after binging so many videos of yours Nikki. But I fell off the wagon since the work I was doing wasn't appropriate to wearing a skirt or dress. I live in Arizona where the number one fashion is super casual and shorts. When I did start wearing more dresses my mom kept asking me if it was a religious thing or a cult. LOL some people really don't like it when you do your own thing. I will have to get back on the wagon because I can now no longer unsee all the "frumpy"ness of how everyone else dresses. (Even though I was accused of being frumpy in a dress..) Anywas thanks for the challenge!

She knows to ask for you by name. “We watch Nikki, mama?” I love to be able to say “yes, we can watch, Nikki” even as you were talking about loving things since childhood, I can see that V really enjoys your videos as much as I do. Being feminine is just so natural to her, it makes me sad that we lose that side of ourselves if we reject it. But I’m hopeful that we can regain it and embrace who we are by design. Thank you! 💜

I understand what you’re saying about confidence. I am “overdressed” in my fit and flare dresses at church. And I wear hats. I stand out among the women dressed in tunics and leggings, pants and shirts. I don’t care. As the song says, “ I enjoy being a girl”. And dresses are more comfortable for me because “fashion’s “ fits are not accommodating to me. I move and feel differently wearing dresses. And the extra benefit is my husband likes me in them. Even before I began wearing dresses all the time, I dressed in my tailored,conservative way even in my youth. I prefer style over fashion. I don’t want to dress like everyone else. I dress to look my best- for myself. Nonetheless, I wear them every day, because I believe that every day is a special day
Thank you for encouraging us to dress elegantly and stand out confidently. Not in a “prideful, look at me” kind of way but in a way that brings beauty and grace to the world. Or at least to our corner of the world. We’ll, town 😆. Since watching your videos I’ve been able to chose more wisely. And I always keep an eye out and scan the racks to see if a dress pops out to me. Thing is is that I’ll chose like 8-10 dresses to try on and come away with one🙄 Clothes shopping isn’t my favorite but I actually find better choices and fits from their store🤷♀️☺️

I hope you have started a new trend for young women! I remember growing up my mom always wore dresses-she never even owned a pair of slacks or jeans. Also, at the age of 18 I was much more of a grownup lady than I am today. I wore suits, dresses, beautiful nightgowns and high heels. I learned a long time ago not to save your favorite clothes for "good" because what if that time never happens. Your husband is so good natured and funny I am sure he keeps you in stitches. Are any of your children following in your lovely footsteps? That would be great.

Having the confidence to stand out is definitely the thing for me!! My favourite fashions are 1660s-1795 and 1870-1905, France. If I even had the budget to get such things made, I would stand out everywhere 🙈 It takes real courage to be seen, knowing that people will judge you - either because they love it or think you’re nuts. It’s a real struggle for someone who’s happy to be the fly on the wall, to wish for such extravagantly beautiful gowns at the same time. It’s quite the conundrum. To feel like a beautiful princess for oneself, and yet simultaneously be invisible?!? 😭

God bless you and your family. I wear mostly dresses or skirts because they make me happy and I prefer them. We live in the greater Phoenix area and due to my health and the heat, I have chosen to take almost all the synthetic fiber from my wardrobe. My dresses are mostly linen, cotton, silk, wool, and viscose. My blouses and skirts are natural fabrics as well. I may go ahead and do the week of dresses with you this coming week, after today. :-)

I LOVE when you do these playful dancing fashion shows, Nikki. SO MUCH FUN! And your husband popping in was hilarious! ;) I felt very much like you were speaking to my current situation with self-presentation. My husband and I have both come to a place with our wardrobes where we look pretty unique when out in town (whether it's my swishy ankle-length dresses or his tweed flat cap or my wide-brimmed fedora). It felt fun and chic when we lived in a city that had people from everywhere, but we've moved to a small town and we basically just always look like we're "not from around here." I feel as if it takes more confidence than ever to continue dressing in our unique style. ;)
I know what you mean! We, as well, stick out like a sore thumb in the village we live in. Nobody wears skirts/dresses full time like me, except one granny. What I like to think is that perhaps I can encourage someone to dress more authentically....they may be shy or afraid of the attention or whatever, just waiting someone to be the 1st to show the way. I don't mind to be the person 🙂

I loved it at the end when you said, "You are one of the flowers of the world." That was so beautiful and a lovely way to think about it. I have only worn dresses for quite a while now so everyone is completely used to it. In fact, if I showed up somewhere in jeans, that would shock all the people that know me. It doesn't take long. I wouldn't even feel like myself in pants now. I clean, I garden, I paint, I groom dogs...I do everything in dresses, just like women have always done. It was only the 1970's when women in pants became mainstream. I mean, we all have to do our lives....we might as well look good while we're doing it! And actually, dresses are very comfortable to work in. Jorge is hilarious and such a great sport! It was the perfect way to end your pretty dress montage!! I had such a laugh!

I wear slacks, but not often. I gravitate towards skirts and tops. I like these, but not all the time. I think my wardrobe is so boring. I follow channels that help women who are over 50, which is what I am, but everything seems to be blue jeans. I do have a few dresses that I like, but I don't wear them. This video is helpful and I hope to get out of my rut.
Thank you Kim! I hope you will gravitate to what you love. It's hard when you watch things that say what things are a "must have" and try to follow, most aren't right for our personal style. Dresses are simple, minimal and yes so beautiful if right for your body shape. I would look up more silhouettes which would be best for your shape and then find what colors and or patterns speak to you most. It won't be boring if you go that route.

I have mostly dresses now. My slacks 👖 are very lonely 😞. Love ❤️ the handmade! Yellow? Yes!!! Pure sunshine 🌞. Ruffles? Yes! Pure girl!

She knows to ask for you by name. “We watch Nikki, mama?” I love to be able to say “yes, we can watch, Nikki” even as you were talking about loving things since childhood, I can see that V really enjoys your videos as much as I do. Being feminine is just so natural to her, it makes me sad that we lose that side of ourselves if we reject it. But I’m hopeful that we can regain it and embrace who we are by design.

I understand what you’re saying about confidence. I am “overdressed” in my fit and flare dresses at church. And I wear hats.
I stand out among the women dressed in tunics and leggings, pants and shirts. I don’t care. As the song says, “ I enjoy being a girl”.
And dresses are more comfortable for me because “fashion’s “ fits are not accommodating to me. I move and feel differently wearing dresses.
And the extra benefit is my husband likes me in them.
Even before I began wearing dresses all the time, I dressed in my tailored,conservative way even in my youth. I prefer style over fashion. I don’t want to dress like everyone else. I dress to look my best- for myself.
Nonetheless, I wear them every day, because I believe that every day is a special day

Since watching your videos I’ve been able to chose more wisely. And I always keep an eye out and scan the racks to see if a dress pops out to me. Thing is is that I’ll chose like 8-10 dresses to try on and come away with one🙄 Clothes shopping isn’t my favorite but I actually find better choices and fits from their store🤷♀️☺️

I hope you have started a new trend for young women! I remember growing up my mom always wore dresses-she never even owned a pair of slacks or jeans. Also, at the age of 18 I was much more of a grownup lady than I am today. I wore suits, dresses, beautiful nightgowns and high heels. I learned a long time ago not to save your favorite clothes for "good" because what if that time never happens. Your husband is so good natured and funny I am sure he keeps you in stitches. Are any of your children following in your lovely footsteps? That would be great.
That would be so nice! Exactly, we have very few of those "moments" but really our whole life is good right? Oh yes, Jorge keeps me laughing and keeps things light. I have 2 that love to wear dresses.
Having the confidence to stand out is definitely the thing for me!! My favourite fashions are 1660s-1795 and 1870-1905, France. If I even had the budget to get such things made, I would stand out everywhere 🙈 It takes real courage to be seen, knowing that people will judge you - either because they love it or think you’re nuts. It’s a real struggle for someone who’s happy to be the fly on the wall, to wish for such extravagantly beautiful gowns at the same time. It’s quite the conundrum. To feel like a beautiful princess for oneself, and yet simultaneously be invisible?!? 😭
I went for a walk today which makes me always feel so good. Coming upon your video with your upbeat music two hours later was the next excitement that made me feel good. You put that together so well. Ty 😀

You inspire me to pare down on my wardrobe to what actually works well for me and my lifestyle; I've been feeling so overwhelmed by my closet lately and it's time to go through and narrow it down to the colors I love most, the styles that work best for stay-at-home-mom life, and what I actually wear versus what I **think** I'll wear.

God bless you and your family. I wear mostly dresses or skirts because they make me happy and I prefer them. We live in the greater Phoenix area and due to my health and the heat, I have chosen to take almost all the synthetic fiber from my wardrobe. My dresses are mostly linen, cotton, silk, wool, and viscose. My blouses and skirts are natural fabrics as well. I may go ahead and do the week of dresses with you this coming week, after today. :-)

I LOVE when you do these playful dancing fashion shows, Nikki. SO MUCH FUN! And your husband popping in was hilarious! ;) I felt very much like you were speaking to my current situation with self-presentation. My husband and I have both come to a place with our wardrobes where we look pretty unique when out in town (whether it's my swishy ankle-length dresses or his tweed flat cap or my wide-brimmed fedora). It felt fun and chic when we lived in a city that had people from everywhere, but we've moved to a small town and we basically just always look like we're "not from around here." I feel as if it takes more confidence than ever to continue dressing in our unique style. ;)
I know what you mean! We, as well, stick out like a sore thumb in the village we live in. Nobody wears skirts/dresses full time like me, except one granny. What I like to think is that perhaps I can encourage someone to dress more authentically....they may be shy or afraid of the attention or whatever, just waiting someone to be the 1st to show the way. I don't mind to be the person 🙂

I loved it at the end when you said, "You are one of the flowers of the world." That was so beautiful and a lovely way to think about it.
I have only worn dresses for quite a while now so everyone is completely used to it. In fact, if I showed up somewhere in jeans, that would shock all the people that know me. It doesn't take long. I wouldn't even feel like myself in pants now. I clean, I garden, I paint, I groom dogs...I do everything in dresses, just like women have always done. It was only the 1970's when women in pants became mainstream. I mean, we all have to do our lives....we might as well look good while we're doing it! And actually, dresses are very comfortable to work in. Jorge is hilarious and such a great sport! It was the perfect way to end your pretty dress montage!! I had such a laugh!

Hi Nikki, This video has truly inspired me! I love the blue and pink dresses from The Pretty Dress Company! I am comfortable with flowey pants but am going to try to find more blouses that have a neckline and fabric that are similar to some of these dresses. I am however going to try to buy some more dresses. I think dressing beautifully every day is so important, Adding the right colors is so important. Thanks Jorge for making us all laugh and smile!

You are so beautiful! I love all your dresses and your husband is a hoot!! I wish I could be like you. I have no idea what my style is or even how to find out what it is. I wear slacks, but not often. I gravitate towards skirts and tops. I like these, but not all the time. I think my wardrobe is so boring. I follow channels that help women who are over 50, which is what I am, but everything seems to be blue jeans. I do have a few dresses that I like, but I don't wear them. This video is helpful and I hope to get out of my rut.
Thank you Kim! I hope you will gravitate to what you love. It's hard when you watch things that say what things are a "must have" and try to follow, most aren't right for our personal style. Dresses are simple, minimal and yes so beautiful if right for your body shape. I would look up more silhouettes which would be best for your shape and then find what colors and or patterns speak to you most. It won't be boring if you go that route.
