    The wallplate straps are for storm lift movement. Great video!

      This is a UK video only. Wall plates need to be mechanically fastened to masonry in North America and most countries in the world. The 4" block is also not allowed either. The 4" block is used as filler only and not structural. Just saying!

    Mentioned on another video about using a wire reinforcement mesh to wrap it around the base of the wall plate and then that way the wall plate is ready for plastering inside. It does actually work the wall plates solid on there even though I know the roof weight will hold it down. See so many times the internal wall plates not meshed and just plastered over and it all cracks from the wood…

      Hi mate, we use lateral restraints. A long L shape metal rod, anchors onto the timber and the wall below

    • @edskapin7171
      @edskapin7171 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IzzytheBricky I have seen some UK masonry video's where other masons install the top plate on the wall in a bed of mortar? We use structural block 6-8" wide and cast bolts with in top of wall and mechanically fasten wood to block. We have to install protection by code between wood and block to keep wood from rotting. Also brick work if used has to meet certain PSI rating. Brickwork here is used mostly as veneer here.

    • @edskapin7171
      @edskapin7171 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tridens6708 4" block is also not structural. Should be using 6-8 block instead of 4" block. Missing corefills and bond beam to make this a proper structure. You then bolt the PWF plate to the bondbeam which is filled with concrete.
