I actually quite enjoy the Hard Light, since it does not suffer from damage falloff. Also, you can spec it for max Stability, since range is a non factor. It is very good in close- to mid-range, and can have consistent damage because of its main perk. But, the recoil takes some getting used to, and it is not for everyone.
