QUESTION OF THE DAY: WHO DO YOU THINK IS A CHARACTER THAT IS MISINTERPRETED BY THE COMMUNITY.
ALSO these are all just my opinions too! Feel free to disagree on these.
Venti 😭 I feel like a lot of people either think he's way too aloof and doesn't rlly care about the traveler or mondstadt OR he's just silly and goofy with not a lot of depth
edit: MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE WAITED A MIN BEFORE COMMENTING
That's a lot of characters to say the least, but mostly Xiao and Diluc.
a lot of people think of Gorou as a Tough on the outside soft on the Inside General…Especially in the Fandom they mostly make him this Bottom Character who cant think for himself, even though i think Gorou deserves more praise and might be stronger than he appears physically and emotionally
Xiao definitely
I say Raiden. I don't think people try to understand her
Diluc is a stotic dude with PTSD but has 'Big Brother Energy' to the max. He cares a lot about people, isn't afraid to state his opinions but also keeps his cards close to his chest. I can understand why he gets a bad characterization -it just sucks because both he and Kaeya have some of the most interesting character story and characteristics.
in other words, he's actually really nice but rarely ever shows it
@@greybey4385More like, he is a nice man, but it takes time to for him to warm up towards that person.
@@greybey4385 wym he rarely ever shows it??? literally just take any diluc scene or voiceline and its diluc being nice(thats a hyperbole ofc,but still he SHOWS his compassion alot)
And remember that time when he rushed to Angels Share cuz he heard the traveller participated in bartender week.
@@ivyannsamanthajasni4010 tbf being nice to the traveler is the default for playables after their story is done
Hu Tao realizing qiqi is a tragic character and now chasing her around to befriend her but qiqi keeps forgetting so she only remembers Hu Taos as wanting to bury her// not liking Hu Tao at all and needing a few years to air out her grievances. Hu Tao even now pampers her.
Omg yeah it’s really sad
omg yes and no one cares that Hu Tao isn't trying to bury her anymore and wants to dote. They all just assume she is still trying to help her pass on
@@spyrothetimelord
Also the fact that Hu Tao thought she was helping by burying Qiqi. Not out of animosity or as “XD bury child zombie” joke. It was misdirected goodwill
I NEVER KNEW THAT I'VE ONLY HEARD ABOUT THE BURYING PART!!!😱😱 I mean, even then I never thought badly of Hu tao for it, cz she rly respects life & death. But this new news just makes me see her as so sweet & adorable, and I'd love her and Qiqi to be friends!!🥺💖
Yes as a hu tao main this makes me very sad cuz they just depict her as though she doesnt care about what qiqi feels and just wants to bury her…
even the reason hu tao wanted to bury her in the first place is because she knows immortality is painful and the coming and passing of human beings is just how life is supposed to function for a human being…she thought she was helping qiqi by burying her so she can find peace in the afterlife…
after realising that qiqi wants to stay alive, she felt sorry for what she did and now takes care of and pampers qiqi… i think the reason qiqi still hates her is because when hu tao was still chasing qiqi around and trying to bury her, qiqi either wrote it in her notebook that she must hide from hu tao OR it happened so often that she somehow remembered to hide from her
I really hope qiqi somehow remembers the times hu tao has been nice to her so that we can see much more wholesome interactions between the two
For Eula's defense mechanism, it's not just about deterring trouble- by repeating it to herself, she's trying to take control of how she's seen. If she's going to be treated as bad, it's going to be because of her words, not something she can't control. She convinces herself it hurts less that way, and tries to feel justified when it shoos people away, because in the end, she can think she brought it on herself, and it wasn't that she was a victim of circumstance.
Which is even more tragic. Thanks!
very healthy coping mechanism!
Yeah like in her quest she says something along the lines of it being difficult to be good when you’re perceived as bad
Really the way people treat Eula is fucking horrific and it's the only time the land of freedom is fucking terrible
Because this girl who's arrested a fellow family member and been personally supported by multiple high ranking knights
She still gets No Respect
I really do feel for her especially considering the of a drink a dreaming event implies
She sometimes uses a bottle to drown her sorrows
Oh so like Daria? Make yourself unlikable on purpose so it doesn't hurt as much when people dislike you.
diona!!
everyone overlooks her and sees her as nothing but a bratty kid. but she's a young girl who is going through very blatant neglect and is being taken advantage of. Almost every adult in Diona's life has failed her. Her story is horribly tragic and all too real, but I most often see her getting dismissed as uninteresting, or just a cute cat girl. It makes me really sad :(
Omg dionaaa ;-; she deserves so much better, draff needs to step up-
I dismissed her as your standard fanservice catgirl loli when she released, but I changed my mind when I learned about her story.
I didn't care to much about Diona at the beginning but once I learned more about her background story I felt really sorry for her. There is this one line in her background story where she asks the traveler to please not leave her and that made me feel really sad 💔 While I don't have her in my party all the time I like to imagine just she hangs out at the serenetea pot quite often to spend some time with my other characters to feel less lonely 🙈
i felt the same way as everyone when she first came out, not caring about her lore n stuff. When i did though it was upsetting. her lack of understanding, since she's young, of why Draff is a bad father is too real(?) It breaks my heart that since she's too young her mindset is just 'i'll make alcohol bad so my dad wont drink anymore! then he can spend time with me' :(
I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in this video, because her voice line about Diluc says all you need to know about why she's the way she is: "Diluc... I can't stand him! If there was no Diluc, there would be no Mondstadt wine industry; if there was no Mondstadt wine industry, Daddy wouldn't drink; and if Daddy didn't drink... he would keep me company. Ohhhh..."
*Diluc:* Everyone thinks that he hates Kaeya, which he never did. Sure, those two don't get along and tend to be distant. However, Diluc always allow Kaeya to spend time on the Angel's Share.
*Kujo Sara:* Stop reducing her into a simp, guys. She is loyal to the Shogun, because she is GRATEFUL to her, because Sara feels that the Raiden Shogun gave her a Vision and saved her life. While loyal to her god, she was also feel conflicted with the whole Vision Hunt Decree.
*Zhongli and Venti's friendship:* Those two don't hate each other. Morax is not fan of Barbatos's laidback and mischiveous personality --- and call each other's silly nicknames.
*The Abyss Sibling is not a the evil sibling:* There's a lot of fanarts of painting the sibling with a evil smile or killing people mercilessly. They are just like the Traveller sibling, they had grown to care about the people of the Abyss.
*Keqing is now a Morax Simp:* She is still highly judgemental towards the gods. However, many tend to forget that on her Character Story, that Keqing upon reading Morax's journals, has grown humble and stunderstand more about his god. So there's nothing wrong to grown admiration towards and even asked Ganyu for help.
*Xiao's Emo personality:* I totally despise how the EN translation flanderized his original personality on the CN.
Xiao's EN VA actually went Mofo and went full on Edgelord since she thought it would be turned down she'd be asked to re-record it, but apparently the EN voice director thought it was good enough and used it in the final cut, at least that's what I think it went down, could be wrong.
I agree with everything in here except the Abyss Sibling
You have a literal god walking among men. Of course one would be loyal and at their service like Sara does. It does kinda piss me off how a wide broad of the players reduce her to that.
I heavily agree with you on the Kujou Sara one!
The abyss sibling definitely wouldn't go as far as senseless murder, but they are still an opposing force, and an evil one at that, considering that the people under their control just- CASUALLY terrorise the seven nations with their antics, and have tried to kill the traveler on multiple occasions within the story
Itto is not entirely stupid he’s very emotionally intelligent even tho he’s not all that book smart
Yes, when it comes to EQ, Itto is good...

she must get a lot of money from that lmao
Even Fischl was surprised when she saw Mona's not broke

Honestly, I see Venti as a parent to Mondstadt's people. He gives them freedom and lets the people of Mondstadt handle the smaller problems, but when it gets dangerous and mondstadt doesn't know how to handle the situation, he steps in to help/save everyone.
Yes this!! Me too
Me too! And then there's people who think he just doesn't care
Venti is the cool uncle
Zhongli is the boomer
Raiden is the karen
Even (in the manga I think) he calls the people in Mondstadt his children, which I find really cute. There are believer NPCs in the city saying the Mondstadters are the children of the Anemo Archon, in a Christianity parallel of sorts. If Zhongli is Liyue's grandpa, Venti is Mondstadt's dorky but hip dad who will play and joke with the kids, but won't intervene with most of their problems because he knows they can handle it
Venti is great xD
I hate when people make out Ningguang to be some prissy rich girl that looks down on the impoverished. SHE GREW UP IN POVERTY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. Her character is meant to break the "stuck up tone deaf wealthy girl" stereotype for goodness sake.
I guess they haven't played her Hangout event.
Her favourite dish is literally cabbage soup, the most broke food anyone can do, and her specialty dish is a sad meat sandwich, just cooked to perfection nothing more.
@@witchqueen1296 bro i fucking cried on her hangout event fr when she tells the traveler she's happy she can be vulnerable with them
Diluc and Kaeya's Brotherhood relationship is really misrepresented because of a meme. Diluc doesn't hate Kaeya. They are still hanging out with each other, we saw them together in Venti's story quest. Diluc doesn't want Kaeya to die. If ever Kaeya would die in the Genshin's main story, Diluc would be the most broken one.
If it wasn't apparent before the Golden Apple Archipelago quest really should have made it clear to folks they don’t hate each others. Its obvious their relationship is still strained to an extent but imo, if it were truly as bad as many (still) think they wouldn't talk to each other at all and avoid interacting as much possible. There are other bars in Mondstadt for Kaeya to go to and Diluc has rearly, if ever been shown in a situation where he couldn't walk away from Kaeya's teasing if it truly bothered him.
I see them as having a sibling like relationship. They might have their problems but in the end they’ll have each other’s back.
I'm pretty sure this is more to do with how Kaeya's friendship stuff is written in game, it makes him look a lot more dark of a character and how Diluc knows who he really is. They definitely are not as close anymore, but I doubt Diluc could just turn from his brotherhood with Kaeya to just outright hating him even after Kaeya told Diluc that he is a spy from Khaenri'ah.
Particularly Kaeya's Story 5 makes it seem as if he didn't even care about the death of Crepus, or that he found amusement in it.
--Both Kaeya and Diluc were shocked by what they had witnessed, losing the calm composure a knight should retain.
"Even someone like Master Crepus would submit to such a dangerous and evil power..."
Sinister thoughts flashed through Kaeya's mind, and he simply smirked:
"This world is truly... fascinating."
All while their father lay dead in a pool of his own blood. It was on that night that the two sons' paths diverged.--
I would also recommend reading his friendship 6 Vision section as well, it goes into a lot of depth about their falling out.
So while we do have these nice moments in game between Diluc and Kaeya, there is always going to be that underlying fact that they are set up to eventually clash with one another or stay be each other's side, and it's all based on Kaeya's decision. He can either choose the family that abandoned him or the family that gave him love and a home, blood or loyalty, and it's the fact that Kaeya is conflicted in this decision is the issue.
Diluc knows this and he's prepared for the worst outcome, his relationship with Kaeya will never be the same and while he seems very mellow we have to remember his vision appeared from the fire that burns within himself. But yes I do believe if Kaeya were to die because of either decision he made, Diluc would be the most effected.
Really puts into perspective how one-dimensional a “fandom perception” of relationships is. In real life, it is totally normal to disagree with a family member and hold a couple of grudges, yet still visit them, have friendly chats, help their kids, etc. Why people suddenly can’t grasp a similar nuance when it comes to fictional characters is beyond me.
Xiao. A lot of people interpret his lines about suffering as edgy and angsty, but actually they are reflecting Buddhist ideals, including his character design. He was based off of the Golden-Winged Peng, a deity in Buddhism that is similar to Garuda in Hinduism. He even says a line like “to exist is to suffer” which is one of the Four Noble truths. Karma as a concept comes from those religions as well, and it’s sad to see that culture be interpreted as edgy. Rip.
Not really. It's mostly the EN community that thinks he's "edgy" because he is poorly and severely mistranslated on the EN side. He even sounds like he is in an eternal sore throat on the EN side, while very calm and collected on the CN and JP side.
@@FrenchDinosaur I was talking about the lines itself and just how the culture behind the character is ignored, not about the portrayal of his character in terms of voice acting.
@@boopnoodle6947 I think that's because of the ENG dub. I play with the CN dub and honestly, the only ones who consider Xiao and, by extension his lines, edgy, are the ones who use the ENG dub
The way i see it is that he's being stoic to try and keep people safe, not edgy. I admit i liked his design at first, then reading his lore after doing his quest made me like him more!
@@paint-and-uwus You're right. I probably should have specified the EN community, since the culture stems from Asia anyway. I also play with the CN dub and he sounds super calm, no doubt that the EN dub's raspy-ness adds to the perception of his edgyness, as well as the translation of the lines. It is still sad to see most EN players write him off as edgy.
Aether being a harem keeper freaks me out, because he canonically don't care about girls THAT MUCH. I mean he could have some little interest, but actually I don't think that he had any romantic feelings for anyone, not even Ayaka. She COULD have some feelings, but he - NO. Yes, he said that he feels good with her, but that wasn't the same "good" as Ayaka felt. But even when we're talking about Ayaka, I think she also doesn't simp for Traveler that much as community thinks. I'm pretty sure that when she said "you're my FRIEND" she MEANT that. Maybe she understood deep inside that if they were together for a long time, they could become a couple. But for now it's just friendship.
The only times he actually show interest it's not even romantically charged it's more of a ego thing like "I'm a chad" moment like with the love letter quest lol
thank god someone said it. it is so gross
Yeah this is some crazy fan fiction that people that don't grass made.
I find the Ayaka simp meme funny but people really are forgetting that she acts the way she acts because she doesn't have a lot of friends and therefore values the ones she has
Aether harem is so weird to me ngl
I feel frustrated whenever people say Ayato hates Itto. His voiceline is not him hating Itto. It’s just him being amused/lowkey surprised Itto doesn’t know which family he’s from and keeps calling him “bro” which Ayato is not really used to since no one dares call him like that. I especially see people saying Ayato sounds like he’s aggressive towards Itto in English dub. I use English and Chinese dubs interchangeably and although Ayato does sound more stern in English (his whole personality sounds more stern in English), he certainly does not sound aggressive. He sounds bemused and then curious in an amused way about Itto near the end. Honestly I often question whether the majority of Genshin community has ever read a story or watch a movie at all, with their tendency to overlook the backgrounds implications or tones of characters and to just take everything at face value.
Both kamisato siblings are quite the misintepreted on their own stuff, whether it is Ayaka's story and her story's bad pacing and her 'pushover' personality to benefit the circumstances (to be honest they really should've shoved the problem to our face rather than making ayaka do it, i really dont like when ppl have expectations that they trying to shove onto me, it was the same case with venti n ningguang, but its also different because we're introduced to the problems right away before anyone has the chance to, for some reason they wants to try another way, which in my opinion really drags ayaka's personality to the mud)
and now Ayato and the misintepreted EN voice lines, it just gotten me real annoyed that people see this as some "oh hes an asshole towards Itto, hes a bully" and not "oh well he's a noble, 'bro' isn't something on his verb to begin with, he's suprised of how a person doesn't know who he is and doesnt mind being seen this way"
i've not listened to Ayato's dialogue fully, yet, but am i correct in assuming that his (& Ayaka's) Japanese voiceovers use keigo? it's easier to translate formal & poetic speech from chinese to japanese than it is to translate either into english: results can go everywhere from "suddenly there is a british person" to "pretentious jerk" to "effeminate" to "pretty-sounding nonsense". >___>
a HUGE part of this is from leak and teaser culture, i feel. voicelines about ayato insinuated that he has beetle fights with itto, so naturally, people expected them to be best buds. i for one enjoyed the fact that it was different from what we expected, but i know i’m probably not in the majority :p
but to the point: people assume way too much about a character before they even come out because of leaks and teasers. not just in terms of story but kits as well (my god, definitely kits). it’s frustrating, we don’t know ANYTHING about these characters until the moment they come out aside from a few out of context voicelines, and yet people are disappointed when their headcanon isn’t real anyway 😭
Ayato is an introvert wondering why an extrovert has latched onto him and is calling him bro
Huge part of blame is on EN voiceover here. His voiceline about Itto sounds really hostile and condescending in EN, while in other languages it goes as you describe - amused and curious.
Lisa wasn't always this lazy: this requires a little interpretation but lines up when you look into her lore and the Academia's.
1. the Academia is notoriously gruelling. Lisa somehow graduated in two years when some people expect to spend the better part of their lives there.
Now, maybe she's Just That Good and napped through the two years, but:
2. Lisa *clearly* saw something she didn't like that was a little scarier than just underemployed sages in advisory councils: listen to the way she talks about Visions and the cost of divine power. Notice how her Ascension voice lines imply she knows how to use far more of her powers than she lets on... what cost is she avoiding?
Based on that, it's very likely (but not certain) that Lisa was working herself to the bone at the Academia like everyone else, trying to scramble up the competitive ladders to Dastur etc... and then when she realised the costs, she stopped cold.
Lisa is a story about... maybe not burnout _per se_, but about self care and paring back one's ambitions. She *needs* this Librarian job to be easy and uneventful-no Field Officer role for her, that would be high stakes stress. She needs decades of decompression, and if she gets angry at people making her work there's a much deeper resentment behind it.
TLDR Lisa is *forcing* herself to be lazy.
Semi serious headcanon: she survived off of pumpkin protein shakes during her Academia days (_tempus fugit_, meal prep is wasted time)... and pumpkins trigger flashbacks 😐
You know, Hoyoverse kinda confirmed in a live stream that Lisa read a book in Sumeru Academia that it would grant her two TIMES the wisdom and power, in exchange of half of her lifespan. She casted the spell in the book, causing her to feel week and lazy physically, but mentally she felt much stronger. But when she graduated and headed to Mond, she didn’t want to waste her life by doing risky things, so she decided to become a librarian so she could enjoy her life in a calmer way.
It's like how Kaeya is seen to be laid-back, but actually takes his work seriously, while Lisa is shown as strict (especially about books), so that she can find herself time to rest and unwind or "to be lazy".
Honestly, I doubt that she's actually lazy at all, and think that it's probably a facade she uses so that people won't wonder why the Akademiya's legendary-tier genius who is *at least* strong enough to easily become a Captain of the Knights of Favonius is satisfied with merely being a librarian, and therefore not realize that the library in question is tied to a knightly order founded by one of Barbatos' Four Winds and contains books that the Abyss Order is extremely interested in. Also, that a *really* lazy librarian probably wouldn't traverse the countryside to violently repossess late and stolen books.
Im not sure entirely, but i feel like people confuse Diluc’s stoicism for contempt. After Events that occurred in his life and his childish impurities were burned during his time away, he’s certainly changed, but he remains the same if you can get under his layer of stoicism. It could be something else, but what i know is that spiteful people dont hold it in for too long.
I blame the voice acting direction or localisation(not the VA themselves). Even with Zhongli and Xiao, they come off way more aggressive than their JP and CN counterparts. He also doesn't get enough personal scenes where for example we get to see him vulnerable because he usually shares the spotlight with Kaeya and Kaeya makes him sound mad or rude haha. Like in golden apple when they want to relax with Klee and he's like "I'm leaving do as you see fit" it sounds unintentionally angry or brooding.
@@finnthefannibal while the localization was questionable, i think the set up during the golden apple archipelago was suppose to help mark exactly how DIluc acts around Kaeya. they bicker like brothers which is a (somewhat) good sign that they're on good grounds with one another. but if what aster said on another video about them, the reason why we haven't seen Diluc act vulnerable is that they may play a bigger role in the story, and the archon quests aren't even done yet. so there may be hope yet!
Diluc and Kaeya are a Greek tragedy waiting to happen. I really fear that sometime down the line, one of them will die, and it will be the thing that catalyzes the other to action, and unfortunately... I've seen their particular plot line enough times in other fiction to know that it's probably going to be Kaeya. I love them both, and I really wouldn't like it happening either way. But their bickering is somewhat rooted in miscommunication, and that's too often solved through someone dying tragically.
Xiao and, to a lesser extent, Rosaria are also stoics misinterpreted as being arrogant/distaining of others.
Ayato has been in the lore for a while so fandom is still consolidating pre-release fanon!Ayato with the Ayato we have versus the varying interpretations of his dialogue by his different voice actors.
(Thoma's & Ayaka's stories were the best source of pre-release Ayato characterization, followed by the Violet Evergarden events, followed by his unlockable story & dialogue: time will tell whether he'll be interpreted as being "if Xingqiu was the older brother in his family", "obnoxious boba slurper" or, idk, "smiling, sneaky, and stressed".
@@operator_ace8502 Yeah those are my favourite scenes, the classic bickering siblings. It's alright when you know Diluc's backstory, but if you depend on just the quests to characterize him and don't have him yet(everyone has Kaeya haha gacha) and don't hear his voicelines or read the manga, he's portrayed as just always frustrated or brooding and we don't get the reason. I think his teapot voicelines and the recent drinks event is what started showing his other side(he's a little awkward and feels vulnerable talking about his dad), when Kaeya isn't around trying to get a reaction so it's an improvement.
Ningguang is *NOT* canonically a reincarnated of Guizhong
Kujou Sara isn't a simp for Raiden Shogun
Kujou Sara also isn't a tsundere. she has a more serious attitude because she's an army general of an army who was literally abusing their power. the reason she's nicer when she becomes a companion/she's nicer with the traveler is because the traveler is now her friend and she's able to relax a bit
Venti & Zhongli are the only 2 left of the original 7 Archons, BUT Ei is still considered as "1st gen" Archons, since she was co-ruling with her sister before Makoto's death. i see people forgetting that Ei is probably closer in age to Venti & Zhongli due to the fact the previous archon was her twin
Yeah, seems people are throwing the word tsundere everywhere these days
About the tsundere part, I hard agree and its also given to characters like Keqing? They are just blunt and strict about their work but I've never really seen them being particularly cold, harsh or temperamental without reason. Keqing is relaxed around traveller and is quite nice to them, and even Sara warms up to them as their ally and her teapot lines are very sweet too, that she wants to keep a pet with them.
Ei and Makoto is still younger than Venti as in Zhonglis story quest he said that Venti was the second eldest of the seven.
@@bethanymcgonigle I'm pretty sure Venti is the second oldest of the CURRENT seven.
Not the originals
@@venleos I know but that still makes him older than Ei, I never stated which seven I was mentioning lol
Tartaglia and Raiden are some of the most misunderstood I’ve seen. Lots of people believed Tataglia wanted to destroy Liyue or doesn’t understand how dangerous battle can be. As for Raiden well there’s nothing I need to say on her.
I’m saying this as someone who still doesn’t like Raiden Shogun, it was a lot stronger I will admit but I have mellow down though I wouldn’t consider her a fave. The one thing I will blame about Shogun is the writing-the writing was too late for ME personally to like her, and I had no problems with her view when we talk no Justu with her and Yae, but the first Story Quest for her really rubbed me the wrong way…I have had friends tell me “well we are to show her Inazuma is in the present and we’re showing her how much has changed” and while yes that is a good to show someone who hasn’t really seen her own country evolve for a long time…I just wish it was a little more? I don’t know maybe it was just my taste or something ( being a straight woman cause I have people assume I’m a dude and jump to conclusions ), but I will say her second story quest was ten times better…But it felt too late for me personally to like her. I understand her BETTER yes, but the writing and pacing was all over the place for the Shogun. I just hope they learned their lesson with the other Archons because being someone who doesn’t like her and having friends who LOVE her-it’s a subject we don’t bring up in convos which sucks cause Shogun had a very interesting back story, but again the pacing and writing done it for me.
My own two cents about Tartaglia: he is always painted worse than Signora or Sacaramouche, but those two are more worse than him and yet the fans forgive or ignore or just say “their evil and that’s hot”. Like bruh.
Tartaglia doesnt understand the dangers of battle? What kind of take is that? Most people take him as a stupid person cuz he was unable to recognize Zl as Morax. Pretty sure he's not that stupid
The most common misconceptions about Tartaglia that I always see is that he is just a battle maniac and a chick boy which is both due to his character design (I guess). About the battle maniac, well he does seek fights especially in that Labyrinth warriors but it's really not his nature but it's an instinct of survival that pushes him to fight most of the time. And we really haven't seen Tartaglia doing moves on girls, even with the Traveller (if playing as Lumine). He is just a smooth talker.
Meanwhile, in Ei's case: I know everyone loves her personality now but as someone who likes Raiden Shogun as the tyrant/dictator type character that version 2.0 represent her to be, I'm quite disappointed to this "she is being used by Fatui", "she is a kind person and the puppet is the one who does the cruel things" situation. I know someone would hate my opinion but this dual persona character of Ei really felt like a 'playing safe' writing. I would say it's lazy writing but since they pushed this theme to her so that a Raiden Shogun weekly boss fight would happen so it's not that lazy. They just played it too safe, just to say we can't have an antagonist archon yet.
Tartaglia is one big mess. The reason why loves fighting is because is gives him a see of being alive and this also heavely influenced because of his trauma during the Abyss --- something that the Tsaritsa molded into a war machine. The guy loves fighting strong opponents, but he is not a bully. He have a sense of honor. He hates dragging weak people into fights, and hell, he even disliked the fact about summoning Osial, because it was his original order. Only ended as clown and scapegoat due La Signora not telling part of the plan either.
People are always complaining about "evil" characters but the morally grey ones are the most interesting ones tbh 😂
Major part of why this misinterpretations happen is that people don't listen to the voice-lines, which have the character explaining 50% or more of their entire personality and story. And the worst part is that you don't even have to read, you just have to listen...
Great video btw
Exactly. And since most people don't have all the characters (understandably), they just read the voicelines from wiki, instead of comprehending them. Also listening to voicelines is very much important as it provides so much tone, feelings and connotation which you can't grasp from just reading the voicelines.
I think the Diluc misconception may partly come from the love for Kaeya- after Kaeya revealed: "Oh I'm a spy and might betray Mondstat" Diluc after already loosing HIS FATHER ONLY HOURS EARLIER- attacked Kaeya
And don't forget, it was on his birthday.
@@Mixrel man had the worst birthday ever
May be just me but I do think Kaeya and Diluc are THE most mischaracterized duo. People think they hate each other whilst Diluc literally has the vase Kaeya gave him on display. People also depict Diluc as edgy and mean which he isn't. Lastly for Kaeya people like to act as if he doesn't care about anyone, and has no feelings it all. I also don't like how they sexualise him constantly without actually thinking of him as a character. They also paint him as "lazy slacker" meanwhile he literally does just as much work, maybe even more than the KoF. I could go on but this would be a five page essay lmao.
Well, I'm interested in what else you may have to say about these two. :O Do say a little more if you have more to say
@@PsQueak2 LMAO 🤣 If I start writing a lot it'll never end, but one more thing about him is the misconception of him "sleeping around" or whatever. Having a nice voice and being hot makes everyone think this while it means nothing.
give us the essay the ragvindr bros need justice
I also feel like some weird racism plays into Kaeya being interpreted as uber sexual because while I know people are horny for the characters, it’s just so weird with Kaeya to the point it veers on fetishism for the fact he is brown. Makes me pretty uncomfortable as someone who’s also brown, honestly, and it’s unfortunate it’s all his character is reduced to
@@bluelemonadepoppoppop933 As a brown person as well yeah I feel you 😭
Well i had a friend who didn't like fischl, how she talked, that she talked too much, and also her (let's say brave) appearance. When i asked him for a reason. He said. It's because she is that "princessy, im better than you all, and you should bow to me" kind of character. Oh i got good laugh out of him that day, then explained, what chuunibyou is. Then i also had to convince him, that, she is not schizophrenic and is very aware that she is just good at cosplay. And other more sad implications, of uniqueness, loneliness.
To this day fischl is my favorite character, not many people know that she is a very inteligent person. She is a skilled guild's investigator and puts a lot of work for mondstadt citizen's safety. Look for unreconciled stars for more. She parts ways with the traveler to help where she feels she is needed most, at that time, many people were falling unconcious due to unexplained reasons. I bet if she wasn't in adventurer's guild, she would be a an Outrider like Amber, a great asset to be sure.
Fischl Hang out when.
What also make me laugh but love Fischl is she's actually 'walk the talk' chuuni. She's actually strong and has capabilities. Well tbh the chuuni tropes I know were only from YT anime clips where the chuunis only talk but dont have the skills..
yeahh i love chuunibyou characters and fischl is one of my favs
I haven't verified this and heard it from a friend but, apparently the CN voice for Oz spoke out in support of the Hong Kong protests or something like that and there has been a suspicious lack of fischl on any banners since then.
@@quickredf0x143 and i also havent verified and heard it from a friend, but appearanly it's been resolved. So i hope for fischl content.

another misconception: ppl think that hu tao likes to make jokes about death or use edgy dark humour, when her voicelines say she would never joke about things like that bc she holds high respect for the dead.
She’s very morbid and while I don’t think dark humour is out there for her, if I see another person say she’ll dig up corpses or throw glitter into people’s ashes I’ll actually go crazy, it’s like they completely glossed over everything in the text
She's definitely not above joking about death, but she's not about using 'edgy' dark humor just because, or disrespecting the rites or concept of death. She just doesn't see death as super-serious-scary deal or something; death is part of life, accept that.
I played her story quest just the other day and I actually thought she was a really good character and now that Igot to know her thoughts more in depth I think she's one of the most mischaracterized characters in Genshin :/
I think the reason for that is from how she sells the coffins, like she makes light of death "buy 2 for 1" line and how everyone will go to "that place" eventually, going to the adventures guild and saying those things to them makes it seems like edgy dark humor to some.
That depends on the joke. She does sees death as something light, not something to be scared of. Thus she says things that is frowned upon, such as giving promos on coffins, making idioms out of death-related things, giving death-related comments casually. However, I think this is because she knows the line of what is to respect and what is to be relaxed upon.
not really a misconception but I feel like we trust venti a bit too much when it's said that he's the weakest archon. Unless I forgot something the only source we have that an archon's strength is based on their control over their people is venti himself. However, the only thing that makes an archon different to any other god is their gnosis, and it's becoming increasingly unclear what the gnosis even does. While I don't think venti wants to lie to us, it's pretty obvious he's hiding something big and between this and his overly carefree demeanour all the time it feels like for whatever reason venti wants us to not think of him as particularly strong.
just imagine in a future archon quests one the archons, after we see their true power in a boss battle and finally befriend them, says something like "You think I'm strong? Just wait til you meet Barbatos, I couldn't never even lay a finger on him" and paimon's brain gets completely discombobulated
I think part of the gnosis’ s ability is life longevity. If the gnosis was take. From a normal human who has lived as long as any of these archons have lived they would probably die. Venti didn’t die because he’s some sort of magical wisp who also inhabits someone else’s body. Zhongli is an adeptus and Raiden Ei has her soul within some kind of automaton.
Also it definely does more because without the gnosis zhongli says he can no longer create mora. Why? Isn’t mora just coins? Is it because of the design and his control on geo is not as good without it?
@@SockOrSomething gnosis don't give longevity i think that depends on what the archon is (i mean Venti is a elemental spirit/fairy, Zhongli is a frickin dragon,as for Ei i have no idea) Gnosis are said to be archons connection with Celestia (and a little power up to rule over a whole nation),but emphasis on the celestia part, even so Ei gave out her gnosis since she cut ties with Celestia,so pretty much i think gnosis are the "deal" somehow celestia has with the archons (also gods already existed before everyone had a gnosis,if I'm not wrong on this think gnosis only got distributed by celestia after the archon war for the last archons standing up
Well, for now, he is indeed the weakest though.
Xiao. His backstory is actually very interesting once you delve into it, and his attitude towards the traveler make complete sense when you think about the guilt he likely has involving his karma and collateral damage. I’ve had far too many people oversimplify his character
i like to joke abt him being emo (its part of my humor; i call me and my friends emo too) but i rly appreciate his character T0T
also i only joke abt it w/ ppl that understand he's more than what a lot of ppl think he is, bc i don't want to be part of the problem (that is neglecting xiao's character and oversimplifying him)
People calling Diluc "emo" clearly don't understand what shit he went through in the past. His life basically took a 180° at his 18th birthday. It must have been utterly traumatic to not only lose his father (who he obviously admired a lot), but also to be suddenly "betrayed" by his sworn brother. I can't imagine what a shock it must have been for him to learn about Kaeya's secret. I also really hate how most people misunderstand Diluc's and Kaeya's relationship. The webtoon clearly shows that they still care about each other. Kaeya taking care of Diluc's vision all these years and Diluc keeping that ugly vase are only a few examples. They're also constantly shown together in the game and the bartender event basically revealed to us that Kaeya spents so much time at the tavern to see Diluc. Obviously their relationship isn't as good as it used to be due to the events in the past. But I'm 100% sure that if one of them ends up in a dangerous situation the other one would do everything to save them.
the vase....... 🥲🥲🥲🥲😵💫😵💫😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@@elbereth2738 srsly I got emotional when I found out that he kept that ugly thing 😭😭 Kaeya gifting Diluc the vase was one of my favorite scenes from the entire webtoon and I'm so happy it is actually mentioned in the game

Also the fact that people say Venti is the weakest archon because venti said "they say the more involved the god is more stronger he is. Guess that makes me the weakest one" or something along those lines..
And that Lisa is flirtatious and that's ger whole personality when i have recently noticed that she usually uses that flirty way with words to deflect the topic which most of time is about her or her past.
I don't have a problem with ppl assuming Venti is the weakest archon in and of itself since he himself claims to be so (ofc whether or not to take that claim at face value is debatable) but rather that ppl take it to mean Venti is weak overall. Even if he is the weakest archon, he's still an archon. He's not human. I'm pretty sure he could still blast half of Mondstadt off the map if he wanted and 100% belive he let Signora take his genosis. Just look at the story of the Salt goddess. She is explicitly stated as being a weak god yet the power at her death was enough to turn everyone in a wide radius into salt pillars. Who really knows how weak or strong Venti is currently.
Listening to Venti at that time, I was just like Diluc “oh, a humble God. Is it a blessing or a curse?” Diluc smells the bs straight away.
The entire character of Kokomi should be discussed, she is portrayed pretty poorly and people don't understand what character she is trying to portray, she is an introvert who didn't want to be in a position of power but got forced into it, but she regardless accepts her responsibilities and tries to carry them out as best as she can. She also got pretty cornered in the archon quest and had to accept the mysterious help even if she didn't fully trust the source just because she understands that Watatsumi island needs it, she is perfectly competent she just happened to be portrayed in a series of events where she doesn't have all the important information surrounding the decisions she is taking.
Another one that I've seen is that she promotes the radical soldiers into an special division so they can coup her, this is also poorly portrayed but with the information on the quest I've formed a headcannon about what she might have been thinking. And simply, it could be a hidden punishment, she doesn't have a lot of manpower available but she knows that she can't keep this men around the people of Watatsumi so she likely sent them off to deal with monsters. During the 2.5 event she threatens a subordinate to work tracking down specters, which shows that she understands this concept.
She really deserves to be portrayed in a way where we are shown what her full thought process is when she takes strategic actions just like they did with Ayatos story quest
I wish I could comment on everything you said, but I'll just stick w/i don't understand why people don't understand that the pressure she was under led her to make a bad decision? Why can't a great strategist slip up, because she's human after all, that was literally what the Fatui were counting on. Kinda like how Ayaka used us at the beginning because she rly wanted to help her people, but she could've just asked and we would've helped. Just bad decisions by good people in bad circumstances.
@@sumyguck8094 well we refused to help, so Ayaka had to manipulate us to help them. Can't accept what she did, but can't blame her either.
@@sumyguck8094 because the story cant say 'shes a great strategist' and then show the exact opposite. Thats not how stories work.
I dunno, 'introvert who thinks everything through and can act on it' pretty much describe Kokomi well.
archon quest did both her and ei dirty, the difference is that ei still gets defended...gurl you created SCARAMOUCHE should've known better not to make any more puppets. it is probably a reflection of her memtality as a warrior but why kokomi cant get something like this?
For me, with characters from other regions, its definitely Kazuha's friend. I get it at least started as just a joke, but there are people who genuinely think Tomo only challenged the Vision Hunters to a duel because he was a raiden simp and wanted to see the booba blade.
Right? People still think this even despite the “abolish the vision hunt decree” line. Clownery istg
The joke was funny at first, but when people started taking it seriously it lost all the humor for me
Especially considering the fact of how Kazuha woke Tomo's vision for a split second to save Traveller! There is a very clear ambition behind Tomo's challenge was to *save* the people who where getting their visions taken from them. He wasn't a simp. He was trying to save people from losing everything they fought for.
I mean it’s not like there is much about his characterization frankly
Same for the name Tomo, so many people think it's his actual name lol
Voices in each characters' profile can give insight how they actually are (like Diluc's lines in this vid), especially when you go higher in friendship level. It's just maybe most people dont bother to listen to them. Most story quests and hangout also do.
That’s my favourite part of Genshin! I love to hear their voice lines that need to be unlocked with higher friendship levels and their background stories as well.
I often don’t care for the story quests, except for Klee and Venti, the rest of them were too long and not interesting to me.
I love the hangout quests! Those are the best quests imo.
eula is misinterpreted big time, I've loved her and her story since the beginning and she's genuinely one of my favorite female charachters alongside ei who's also VERY misunderstood, especially the first story quest.
Also diluc doesn't hate kaeya, they're just awkward around each other and bicker a lot because of the past and the whole spy thing but I guarantee, the moment anyone of them is in deep danger the other will go to help them in the speed of light.
As a person who is a Lorenut I am pleased to see this video. Finally no more bs characterization.
The biggest miscommunication of a character I saw is in Yae Miko.
I feel like many people forgets that she is a Kitsune.
Compared what actual myth of Kitsunes are Yae is a saint.
In 400 years, it’s possible she will kill Ei and take her place as god. You never know why those foxes.
1. Man, I love Venti so much. As much as we want to meme about him being a drunkard fool, he's such a complex character who's quite easy to misinterpret and keeps so many mysteries around him. He adores Mondstadt and ended up having the wisest approach and highest regard for humanity that the other archons are now trying to emulate in a way. I hope his second character quest is a banger and up to the high standards that Zhongli and Ei set up with theirs.
2. I remember I was floored by how sweet and friendly Diluc is when he interacts with Traveler. His birthday mail from last year even made me emotional. I think his 3D model's face's range doesn't help him either, he's so expressive in the manga but in the game he looks more serious.
3. As a Eula main, I appreciate the Susbedo Dragonspine event a lot for showing us how she's like when her vengeance mechanism doesn't kick in. And while she's still a bit of a tsundere, she's so polite and warm and concerned around new people who don't see her as a Lawrence, like Joel and Benny and Albedo. Sadly, I saw people joking that she was out of character because she never mentioned the word "revenge". UGH, THIS FANDOM.
4. Another one about Mondstadt characters: People saying Barbara is the Barbatos Simp(tm) to fill the (already misinterpreted) spots of Keqing and Sara. It's funny because Jean is much more of a devout even if her sister is the nun, like STILL RESPECTING THE SHIT out of Venti while knowing who he is and how he spends the time. It's so weird because Barbara is more defined by his wish to heal people and make them happy, and not the religious part of her job.
5. I can't wait for you to get to my boy Xiao in the Liyue video. I'm so tired of the anEMO jokes and we have the English dub's voice direction (not the acting itself) to blame for, because in Chinese and Japanese (Korean too I imagine?) he comes off as a different person altogether. There are a few characters that I think the EN voice direction is completely butchering, like Xiao and Eula and even Paimon. Me maining Xiao and Eula are the reason why I can't play with English audio despite some other voices being so damn good.
For the "Ayaka is a manipulator" thing. It kind of happened because of awful design
Designs - definition: the general arrangement of the different parts of something that is made
1) It doesn't make logistical sense nor just any sense for Traveler to go to Inazuma. I mean according to Liben, you can literally walk from Liyue to Sumeru or Fontaine
2) Traveler actually denied helping Inazuma at first even though they knew there's Vision hunt/ Sakoku decree
3) When you do statistics you don't just ask 3 people out of the whole population for accurate data and yet Ayaka told us to do just that to conclude if Vision hunt decree is bad or not
4) Inazuma archon quest is the only archon quest that requires you to complete character story quests i.e. Ayaka's and Yoimiya's, in order to further progress the story. And also 2.0 update featured Ayaka's banner
In conclusion, the reason Ayaka seemed like a manipulator at first is because she made Traveler feel guilty for not helping these people even though hours ago Traveler only cared about meeting Raiden Shogun
Additionally if you go around and talk to other people you will find that there were quite a few people who had no problems after their Vision was taken
I love your statement on Canon vs. Headcanon.
I feel like a lot of the... pain fandoms suffer from are the insistence on headcanon. I've encountered that many times in many franchise fandoms and it can go beyond forehead rubbing :D
Yep, that is the main reason why I used to be in the Hp (Harry Potter) community and left, most people are nice but people insist on shipping some two characters together even though both have canon relationships with other people.
Keqing so often got dumbed down to just having rex lapis figurines before her event quests came out... which was really annoying to me as a Keqing main. Like she is so much more- a head-strong honest workaholic!
The fact that people think that Ei hates Scaramouche. This isn’t even coming from headcanons or parental issue projections, I’ve seen people who genuinely believe this. Ei abandoned Scara because she thought he was too fragile, but she didn’t necessarily dislike him. Hell, Yae Miko wanted to DISPOSE of Scaramouche, but Ei wouldn’t allow her.
I see this WAY too much on twitter. I genuinely don't understand where the idea come from that Ei hates scaramouche, even after joining the fatui
Reading this the first thing that came to my mind was a disappointed parent. Even when he was to fragile for her intentions Ei still leave Scara free. Like “we don’t follow the same path, but you born because of me, I won’t step on your way as long as our path don’t collide”
This one kills me. Like what???
the reason why scaramouche is still around w us the first place is that ei let him live and roam free as he liked since she felt bad for forcing him and people don’t event realize that 😭
Ei might not hate Scara but he probably hates her.
I’m glad you mentioned Fischl bc she’s clear about herself but she doesn’t want to be seen breaking character and that’s why when she does snap out Oz plays to her strengths to help her out. She’s just a neat character who’s very lonely but definitely still from Teyvat
I also feel like people Infantalize Venti and treat him as if he is so weak? He’s still a god! An the original anemo archon?! Also despite her being an inazuma character, Ayaka is not a manipulative individual, she did what was best for her country and very much would sacrifice her standing for the traveler.
I feel like part of the reason Venti is infantalized so much is because of his appearance. Some people (weebs especially) always see feminine boys as promiscuous or weak (which is kind of creepy..) So they water down his character to "femboy" and call it a day
Ayaka was not a manipulative but but for me she was kinda pushy like you get your answer it's no why do you pushed? A nation problems is their own problem if you can't even solve your own problem then that nation won't hold long
@@ЕльханБолат kinda true what will they do when the Traveler leaves the journey they are taking will be long and take the majority of their time. Ayaka Ayato Kokomi Yae Miko Kamaji and Chisato (sorry if i mispronounced her name i stink at remembering names.) Need to hold a big meeting in the tri commission to make big changes and to really prep everyone to do their part to better Inazuma for the next generation so they won't endure the things they suffered with
@@AlsoNotimportant this is something I have witness mostly with hardcore shippers or people who see genshin characters as "comfort characters" to be honest, some of them even going to the point of harrassing anyone who don't portray Venti as they seem him (the same people who think that Venti is a minor and should be protected or that Xingqiu is a sweetheart).
Most so called "weeb" rarely talk about him other than for his appearence and to say that he is "sus" but pretty much I have rarely seen any of them talk about his strength or role in the plot.
The other ones saying that he is weak are mostly the players who only see the first level of lore, don't take time to understand the plot, or skip most of the dialogues and twitter in general.
i feel like ayaka was still manipulative since she got us to help by guilt-tripping us, which is by nature manipulative
however.... i don't think she meant any harm. some people are manipulative without trying to be, and can't help it. or maybe she just thought it was her best option and was desperate. either way, i don't really blame her for manipulating us.
besides- there have been worse people that the fandom loves to bits
i think the fandom just has a hard time figuring out WHEN they're being manipulated, and attack the people who more outwardly manipulate rather than others because others are more clever or low-key about it !
I'm SO glad you mentioned Venti. I'm sick of him being watered down to "ehe lazy drunk femboy archon". Like sometimes those jokes are funny, but there's so much more to his character. The reason he doesn't actively rule Mondstadt like Zhongli ruled Liyue or like Ei rules Inazuma is because he saw how that worked out 2,000 years ago and did not want history to repeat itself. The people of Old Mondstadt were so trapped and separate from the outside world that they'd never seen birds, the grass or the sky before (Venti character story 3), and that was because of the god who ruled Mondstadt at that time. Perhaps he thinks humans are maybe better off without the archons directly ruling them. And like you said he always shows up when something serious is going on. Yeah maybe it's not the most responsible way to rule your country but he is doing *something* and he does genuinely care about his people. Venti character story 4: He bade Mondstadt become a city of freedom, a nation without a king. In future, he believed, it would become a better, more romantic city. "Surely, he [the nameless bard] too would have wanted to live in such a place."
I'm also glad you mentioned Albedo. I wasn't actually aware that this misconception about him existed. I'm someone who relates to Albedo A LOT, and yeah, contrary to popular belief, introverts don't hate human interaction. Albedo's alone a lot of the time but like you said that's because he just doesn't have a very big social battery... in all the events and quests and such where he's appeared he seemed to enjoy the company of other people. Just because he needs to be by himself a lot doesn't mean he hates everyone.
The misconception that always annoyed me the most was “Sara is a Shogun simp”
Like, people. If someone saved your life, wouldn’t you appreciate and be loyal to them? Sara isn’t a simp, she’s loyal and respectful to the person who saved her life.
Also, Ik I’ll get a lot of comments about this. Ik that Shogun doesn’t give out visions and that she didn’t technically save Sara’s life.
kinda my issue with sara is that she's basically stated "yeah even if she goes all hitler again i'm probably just going to follow her lmao"
@@75dmgwtfdaisuke That’s how a lot of devout religious people are though, in a sense? Such as Christianity being spearheaded into the reasoning for many atrocities being committed in history as the will of god, thus people followed. Though that comparison may not be entirely fair, as gods in the real world are much more mythic compared to genshin where you can see your god taking a stroll through town on a Tuesday (like the Raiden story quest), which I suppose makes more sense why Sara can follow her so blindly. Still, I don’t think it’s entirely unreasonable, it just makes her flawed
@@bluelemonadepoppoppop933 Yeah that comparison is dumb af
Kokomi is definitely a character that gets a lot of undeserved flack, most of her best moments are glossed over fairly regularly.
I love Kokomi! but the huge problem I have is the fact that the last 2 acts of the Inazuma quest felt rushed given that we were under the impression it was going to be _huge,_ with the thing about the Resistance to Scaramouche to even Ei. Not to mention, they kept _repeatedly_ saying that Kokomi is a brilliant strategist, but then did a terribly poor execution since she accepted resources from an unknown and anonymous individual/group. It’s not Kokomi’s fault, but it doesn’t mean she was written well either. It makes me sad when people mock her, but really, the writing for her stories hardly did a show and tell of the expectations we were provided with on her character, and it wasn’t just her who wasn’t done justice in that period of time around 2.1 and even 2.2.
@@scarletpetal.
Most of the inazuman archon quest issues comes from Yae just showing up and dealing with all of the problems with her plot convenient magic.
Also, it's worth noting that the provisions provided for the resistance had been personally reviewed by her and nothing out of the ordinary was wrong with it. The Delusions were handed out separately by a mole in the resistance, so regardless of the provisions, they would've been distributed. There's a world quest which goes over Kokomi capturing this mole as well so that's another point for her at the very least considering this mole infiltrated both mainland inazuma and watatsumi island.

I swear, everyone in this game gets misrepresented and it’s just sad☹️
Honestly, a big case I find enraging is Ayaka. Everyone pushes the idea of “OMG AYAKA IS IN LOVE WITH THE TRAVELER”. I really enjoyed her quest because it felt like friendship. She was learning how to make friends. That’s what made her story beautiful. Ayaka’s dance at the end didn’t feel like romance to me, it felt like a visual way of expressing her gratitude to aether/Lumine.
And now for my favorite character, Shenhe. Due to Shenhe’s whole violence thing, people thinks she’s a yandere for the traveler🤨? Shenhe’s whole quest was about FRIENDSHIP. It was such a heartwarming experience to see a person isolated from society and people learn to feel gratitude and a bond with another human being.
I swear some people are just so lonely they make every girl in this game thirst for them for some reason. Not saying the guys don’t get the same treatment, I just gave examples I feel like happen a lot.
Raiden, Scaramouche, Childe. People want to twist characters into good people to justify liking them. Without understanding that a character can have sympathetic reasons but their actions still make them the villain even if they were within their right or power to do so, it's not morally gray, it's villainous. And that's precisely what makes them interesting over the hundreds of nice characters.
This is the same for characters like Kaeya who are not evil but more like antiheroes. Usually people hate on him for lying, endangering Collei(he wasn't going to kill her, he wanted to expose her to Amber like he was to Diluc), and especially for pushing Diluc's buttons. This is mostly to argue that it's Diluc on the right side of their feud when really they're both stubborn idiots who need to make up and hug. And remember, Kaeya has a lot of similarities to a newer better recieved character, Ayato, who isn't beyond doing villainous things(lying, manipulation, murder) to achieve what he thinks is right. Or Zhongli who killed a lot of people but just a long time ago.
What I'm saying is, it's alright to like a character who is a terrible person and to discuss morality and at the end of the day it's fiction.
Fischl and Amy is basically just the Genshin equivalent of The Undertaker and Mark Calaway.
The misconception I see thrown around the most is the famous story of Ganyu in the Archon War. The misconception is that her butt is big, therefor monster choke. The actual text says Ganyu was really fat, therefor monster choke. That's the whole reason she's spent the last 1,500+ years dieting.
The ammount of times I've had to argue that Venti didn't abandon Mondstadt cries
I think Zhongli is also pretty mischaracterized in the same way Venti is. I’ve seen many people say that he did not care about Liyue when it was being attacked by Osial, and that he manipulated the traveler into helping him with his plan. In the Archon Quest, Zhongli even says that he would’ve stepped in to intervene had the people of Liyue not been able to handle it, yet people still somehow think he didn’t care. The Traveler was never really a key part in his plan anyway, they just happened to be there to help. Without the Traveler, Childe would have still summoned Osial to bring out the Geo Archon for his Gnosis, he just would’ve done it faster since the Traveler wouldn’t have been there to stop him.
this fanbase is built on headcanon especially shippers 😭
I'm surprised no one's said it yet but Kazuha. I often see him getting reduced to being vengeful and hateful towards Ei for his friend's death when that's simply not true at all. Sure his friend's death impacted him but he's accepted it and moved on from that ever since the last Inazuma archon quest.
yes !!! kazuha is doing an amazing job at moving on, and it should be praised and accepted ! I'm so proud of him
Kazuha is the foil to Scaramouche (and partially Ei) in how he dealt with loss. All three of them lost someone close due to their loved one's choice, but Kazuha is the one who managed to accept that choice first - he moved on, while Ei secluded herself completely and Scaramouche became extremely bitter and hostile.
When was kazuha vengeful? And even if people were thinking tgat, i hope that now its clear tho (he literaly said he doesnt seek revenge towatds scara and he generally dont seek revenge. So i giess soom these things should stop)
I remember there was a discord server where we had to make a pinned message about Ei’s character
It went like this:
Understanding Ei’s character
Ei as far back as the records we could reach. She believed herself little more than a warrior with little understanding of mortal hearts, so it was best for Makoto to be the ruler, while ei’s role is the fighter. Ei was the type of person who always worried about the future, like Erosion, and upcoming disasters.
Her ideal of eternity was the moment unchanging. But despite her definition of eternity being the farthest from Makoto, she choose to follow Makoto’s ideal. She fought so many wars, and monsters deemed to be an “obstacle to progress”, she eventually tried to learn Makoto’s ideal as her daily life was following progress. So when the cataclysm happened, the most progressed nation (khaenri’ah) was destroyed by Celestia, Plus Saiguu,Chiyo,Yougou and Makoto and among many others died. This led to Ei’s realization that each step to progress had a price. And so Seeing how the Price of Lost wasn’t worth the Reward of Progress,She decided to stray away from progress as much as possible, Fully embracing Stagnation (Unchanging moment) as her Version of Eternity. This is why she believed that Humans should not get the chance to pursue their ambitions as it will only result in a pain similar to what Ei went through, She truly believed her people would be better off this way. But on her Act 1 She starts to see that Progress is Unstoppable simply by wandering around inazuma and in Act 2, She has to fight her own Machine that’s programmed on Ei’s Old flawed ideal of Stagnation to prove that Her acceptance of progress is not a sign of Erosion but rather a sign that she was gonna allow people to follow their dreams for the rest of eternity.
That’s what it said, As everyone kept saying Ei was a tyrant and I’m not saying her Trauma justifies her actions, All I’m saying is that people should actually try to understand the character they are judging rather then just skip dialogue and head straight into the boss fight.
I think that people can still dislike her even if they understand her reasoning behind her actions. I say that because I'm one of these people.
For instance, I greatly appreciate the story hoyoverse wrote for her and think they have done it beautifully, but if anything that just makes me dislike her MORE. I prefer holding her accountable for fuck ups and being truthful to my dislike of her everything that she did over simply excusing everything just because there's a good and sensible explanation behind it.
@@blackjackal8770 Did she got held accountable by fighting her puppet for a millenia just to prove that she is capable to protect the dreams of people? Or people wanted a more punishing approach like death?
@@claggor1070 That fight is not something the people of Inazuma is aware of, nor does it erase the fact that at first she was negligent to her people and that she enabled the death of many, allowed a civil war to happen and etc while she wanted to stay locked away like a spoiled child just because she was grieving. She deserves to be resented by her people, far more than she deserves any praise for fixing her mistakes. Because fighting the Shogun and ending the Vision Hunt and Sakoku decrees is literally the least she could have done.
@@blackjackal8770 You are forgetting something very fundamental. Ei is an Archon. A god to the people of Inazuma.
Modern western society have forgotten what that means, in their increasingly materialistic worldview. You do not resent your god, you appease if possible, endure if not. You, as a normal human, do not have the right or the qualification to resent or judge a god.
Given this mindset, just the fact that Ei changed her mind and is working towards a better future shows that she isn't inherently a bad god. Just one that is out of touch.
Also, go back and look through her archon quest again. EI is aware of the Fatui's involvement in the vision hunt decree, but allowed it because it align with her mindset at that time. She is not aware of the civil war and the rebellion because the Kujou is actively hiding it from her. In her point of view, the people are accepting of the vision hunt decree because that is what's reported to her.
When she found out the truth, she put a stop to the entire thing immediately. After her 'date' with the traveler, she realize her mindset was wrong and actively worked to make things right. After confirming that her new mindset is the correct path, she open her country up again.
Personally, I find that your interpretation of Ei is far too shallow, and far too black and white.
@@Shinteo5 I can assure you that my interpretation of her is not shallow, I understood everything you told me now on your comment from the quests, that I did without skipping any dialogues and that I even rewatched several times later. I agree that she has acknowledged her mistakes, that she found redemption and that she's working to improve. I still don't like her though and I don't have to. I resent her for what she did, and I'm not gonna praise her for doing the least she could do now, which is revert her mistakes
This isn't really a big one, but i feel there was big misconceptions that Ayato and Itto were total bros, when in reality Ayato just somewhat entertains Ittos eccentricities.
to be fair i think ¿ that misconception was more popular before we knew barely anything about ayato and his personality (only that they apparently did a beetle fight lol) so people just assumed, somehow the narrative turned around and now almost everyone thinks ayato hates him which is so dumb lmao
@@sona6436 Yeah, tbf to the fandom the first time we heard about Ayato battling Itto was without context of Ayato's characters or feelings. We only had Itto's perspective actually and based on his voice lines I don't really blame us for the super postive assume. That said, I do kind of blame the ENG's VA's delivery when Ayato talks about Itto. Compare to the JPN & CHN who sounded bemused in ENG he sounded far more annoyed even tho he does state at the end it didn't/doesn't bother him.
@@fatalblue yeah, seems like a common issue with the eng dub at times where the director seems to go for a different direction than the other dubs, sometimes it works with characters like Itto but then you have characters like Xiao who's made to sound angry and annoyed unlike his cn/jp/kr counterparts where he's way more calm
(not to mention sometimes the overall eng translations tend to lack the nuance of the original which only adds to the issue)
@@sona6436 May I add? The English dubbers are talented, but the problem is the ones who cast them. Like with liyue characters’ name pronunciations, the people guiding the VA’s never bothered to give them a pronunciation guide! Which is why all the characters’ pronouncing their names sounds a bit wrong. Sure there are characters like Qiqi and Beidou who got the pronunciation as close as possible, but with others like Xingqiu, it’s quite off. Even Tartaglia, who isn’t Liyuean, I know, but his VA pronounced the G in Tartaglia when the G is silent, it’s pronounced “Tar-tah-li-yah” not “Tar-tagh-li-ah”
@@sxftiebearuu yeah, generally speaking the VAs themselves are very talented, the issues typically end up turning out to be because of the way they're directed when it comes to proper characterization and pronunciations
sad how the eng actors themselves tend to get a lot of hate from some ppl in the community who think it's their fault, when they're literally just doing what they're told/aren't corrected when something's off
To people who hate Diluc because they think he hurt Kaeya. First of all, Kaeya chose the worst possible time to confess, and maybe there's a reason for that. In the text it says that Kaeya expected Diluc to become angry. Therefore, there is possibility that he confessed at that specific time because Diluc lashing out at him was exactly what he wanted to achieve.
Second of all, stop assuming that Kaeya was trying to have a heart to heart conversation when Diluc refused him. We don't really know what was said in that conversation. Stop assuming that Kaeya was acting soft while Diluc was acting all mean. All of that was in your head. Canon never said any detail about what happened on that day. Kaeya's wording and behavior could've have been totally different from what you read in those fics.
Lastly, stop assuming that Kaeya had picked a side when he confessed to Diluc. He hadn't. He never did. He was never ready to become enemies with Khaenri'ah. He confessed only because he wanted to stop hiding his true self from Diluc, which does not necessarily mean that he was ready to side with Mondstadt. He wanted Diluc to know the real him, but never gave up on his mission given by Khaenri'ah and by his father. He couldn't keep lying to Diluc even if they became enemies afterwards. Therefore is there anything wrong with Diluc not approving Kaeya's mission? Also the reason why Diluc stopped fighting Kaeya was never stated in the text. All we know is that the fighting stopped when Kaeya's vision appeared. That's it. Everything else is your headcanon. We don't know if it's, as you guys assumed, because Diluc really set his mind on killing Kaeya but was not capable of doing so after Kaeya got a vision. It could simply be that Diluc couldn't continue the fight because he couldn't bear losing two family members on one day, so he used the vision as an escape and walked away. Again, this is only my headcanon, but it is just as viable as your version since we don't really know what went on.
All I wish to say is stop treating the stuff you see in fics as actual canon. You can enjoy the oocs in those fics, but stop spreading misinformation.
I was waiting for Kaeya who’s extremely mischaracterized by the fandom as well,,,,,,, but this is a good video nevertheless
me too! I feel that people have misunderstood him as someone very flirtatious who does not take relationships seriously, when really he is not even interested in forming a love relationship, He is just someone with a playful attitude that he uses as a mask to protect others by gaining trust from suspicious people to finish his job and protect, he is actually shy (not excessively) by the people he cares about, friends and family
He's misinterpreted about always mocking Diluc to the point in the bartender event, in Vietnamese sub, the translation team decided to go with meme and translated his drink as "refresh matcha" when you translate it to English. But in Vietnamese, it could be read wrongly as "lose dad lose mom", as to mock Diluc lost his family. And that's not how Kaeya is. Diluc's family is Kaeya's family, and there's no way he would mock him like that
For one thing, a lot of Mona fanart does have her selling her body for money even tho I believe she has a job. She deserves better than that. Also, to this day, i still don't understand why people shipped her and Scara.
Besides the general appeal of the "Hate ship" vibes in fiction, honestly, there's no real reason just that they both have similar surface personalities and big hats. But yes, i super agree with this !
Seriously what the actual fuck is wrong with people who do the selling her body for money thing, that feels so disrespectful wtf
@@whiteasparagus4331 You wanna know the reason? It's porn. As soon people heard that she has trouble with money their imaginations ran wild. You get the more gag fanarts that have her picking mushrooms for food or asking the traveler to stay in the teapot since she can't pay for rent. Of course rule 34 exists and a lot of people find Mona really attractive so it makes sense that some fans would think the idea of her selling her body for money pretty hot. If you look up any of her doujins online a large portion of them involve that scenario I just mentioned. Personally, it's not my cup of tea but there a lot of people out there who would commission artists for this kind of stuff.

Childe
I always thought he was that 'bad guy that is actually really good on the inside'. You know, like Zuko, Pain, Sasuke, etc, that get a redemption arc join the MC's team and alls good. But after really listening to his voicelines, story and after the Labrynth Warriors event, I realised that was not true at all.
Yes, he cares about his siblings and would go travelling with MC if giving the chance. But Childe isn't a 'good guy'. He's completely loyal to the Tsaritsa. He is bloodthirsty and doesn't care about the wellbeing of others. All he does care about is battle. He's the direct opposite of the timid weak child he was before he fell into the Abyss.
Anyways, I'm a very happy Childe main and I love him to bits.😊💖
Fellow childe main
Though I don't fully follow your interpretation.
My interpretation is as follows
I think he's around the middle. He's not a psychopath, he has his morals and values, a lot of which are good values, and perhaps some are because he never fully let go of his past, or refuses to let it all go. In his quest he says along the lines he will avoid the destruction of childhood wonder in people, which knowing his story, he had his childhood taken from him all too soon, it hits hard hearing him say this when we know how the childe seen in game came to be. He still loves fishing, a hobby he kept from childhood, something he did with his dad who told him stories of Greek Mythology.
He is arrogant, has his motives which may not be good, like what does he plan to achieve by/after concering the world? What are the tsaritsas true ambitions and what do the harbingers know of it? Is she actually trying to do good but very badly executed? Childe so far out of every Harbinger seems to be the most moral and sane. After his trauma at 14 he kept a smile on his face and kept an uplifting attitude and held onto that which is dear.
He doesn't seem happy being Harbinger but holds his loyally to the tsaritsa, which could mean he knows a bit more about her than the others and therefore is a reason for him to stay loyal. Perhaps he knows more through his training in the abyss, maybe he knows annoy khanrea but can't speak of it
But if not for that loyalty for whatever reason, I feel he'd much rather be free and challenge the most powerful people and monsters wreck havoc without destroying cities because we know from the archon quest he really didn't want to destroy liyue and summon osial, and he was a pawn to do this, and he hoped Rex lapis would stop it not knowing the full plan Signora and zhongli had. He was pissed with the two at the end
Childe is honest and knows what he is. Right off the bat we get he's not a bad guy, we'll he sort of is. Which is very true. His values and care for the majority, like innocent people in liyue, stops him from being pure evil
But he can be selfish, arrogant and very focused on his motivations to a point is too far, loyal to what is seen as bad to a fault and his love for battle and aggression that makes him bad
In reality he human with 2 extremes that contradict eachother, but to see him is to read into almost every one of his lines
Whether he gets redeemed or not is up to hoyo. Either way I'm happy for the decision as long as the writing stays good on him, I feel like he could be redeemed in a fantastic way. But I can see him staying how he is, and seeing his constant changes between friend and foe being fun and well written too as we learn more about him
@@chassiebazz92 Very well said!
And there's one thing too:
When his family faces harm, he'll protect them no matter what. Not as Childe, Not as Tartaglia, but as Ajax. The eldest child who would even use the foul legacy transformation to protect everyone dear to him, even if it costs him his very life.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Liyue Characters being discussed, maybe even the Inazuma characters! Great Video Aster!
kaeya!! he is definitely not a flirt & most certainly would never use flirting as a way to get information out of people-i have no idea how people interpreted him following & then beating up an enemy who tried to infiltrate mondstadt during the 1st archon quest as... him flirting with said enemy during a crisis.
kaeya is a shy person who doesn't want his friends to know that he planned an elaborate birthday party for them, who would stick to the sidelines & watch his friends be happy during said party. kaeya is beloved by mondstadt's grandmas who want him to be their grandson. he is definitely morally questionable at times but he has mondstadt's well-being in mind no matter what happens-he will do anything to protect the city.
he doesn't even flirt with the traveler-he teases them as a joke, but as that. also the fact that the fandom made the only brown man in the whole cast out to be a flirt who uses sex appeal as a way to get information... is a problem in of itself. i can go on forever about the way kaeya is misportrayed in the fandom but then i'd be writing an essay so... yeah.
ALSO. diluc... diluc gets the WORST of the mischaracterization. he doesn't hate kaeya, he literally still cares so much about him that he doesn't want to see his brother embarrass himself while drunk & even lets him hang out in angel's share despite being able to kick him out any time of the day. he cares about everyone in mondstadt & has made it his personal mission to protect them at the cost of his own health, mentally & physically, because the law enforcement of mondstadt had failed him & continue to fail every other citizen (despite jean's best efforts). diluc is a very sweet & gentle man who hides behind stone walls because of his trauma. he isn't cold & aloof & cruel at all-he's just a traumatized man who was forced to grow too fast as a child.
Paimon: Even Master Diluc accompanied us to the very end. Despite only being an accidentally involved...bystander.
Diluc: You shared your secret with me, and I only returned your trust to the same extent.
- Archon quest, prologue chapter
Diluc is very kind and goes out of his way to help people even when he doesn't need to. But this makes me wonder how Hoyo is going to resolve the loose ends from his and Kaeya's fight, which started when Kaeya tried to tell him his secrets....
Ganyu is misrepresented by the community. She isn't just a mommy milkies cocogoat.
In all seriousness, people may think she is a workaholic that likes work so much that she makes everyone else look bad when actually she is just so *devoted* to Rex Lapis that she will gladly do as much menial labor as she can just to do her part even when tired of it.
Also, Yanfei isn't just a by the books lawyer. While she generally does follow the law, she will bend it when she thinks it will help a person who has been wronged.
Childe for sure.
Most people are under the assumption that his intent for coming to Liyue was to destroy it, but the motivation behind unleashing Osial was never the complete destruction of the nation. The primary intent was to lure out Rex Lapis and obtain the gnosis. Osial was a backup plan and never the main plan, and he never actually wanted innocent people to end up involved. Additionally, he's not a purely evil character, but a morally ambiguous one. He has morals, a conscience, and his own sense of justice (a shared trait between Hydro characters), and despite his position as a harbinger, he doesn't perceive the Traveler as an enemy. In the end, his character is far more honest, complex, and interesting than many give him credit for.
Damn straight, if he really wanted to destroy liyue, he would have just summon osial out of the gate.
Xiao is the most infamous example and I bemoan his characterization in the English dub, but I’ll say one that I don’t see often corrected as often is Hu Tao. Everything around her character is built upon misunderstanding after misunderstanding with her handling of death, and don’t get me started with Qiqi.
The biggest glaring issue is people misconstrue how Hu Tao deals with death, to the point they think she’d put glitter in people’s ashes and dig up bodies or something else wildly disrespectful to the dead. In actuality, it’s stated that it’s the complete opposite, and that despite her mischievousness and prankster personality, death is one of the only times she’s able to become somber and truly carry the legacy of the Hu family name, because it is something she is raised upon. She respects the dead so much she’s willing to disregard the status quo and the typical expectations in life, because she believes in living to the fullest, as death comes for us all.
This plays into the whole burying Qiqi, the reason why she wanted to bury her was because she felt that Qiqi living on as a zombie blurred the lines between life and death, when she’s been taught all her life that they’re absolute and you cannot change death, for its strike cannot be swayed. That is, until she started doing more research, and realizing that the Adepti themselves had blessed Qiqi, she begins to change her opinion on Qiqi, even trying to dote and pamper her as apology, though Qiqi still seems to hold a grudge.
Hu Tao’s incredibly mature and capable, but a lot of it is boiled down to “lol I’m a quirky girl rawr XD” because of her eccentricity and absurdity. People still think she’s going to go spontaneously commit arson and beat up children or something when Hu Tao is portrayed as uninterested in fighting. Honestly, I think people just want to project this quirky chaos girl mentality onto her, which is why we get goofy manic pixie dream girl Hu Tao, instead of the full nuances of her character.
That was pretty long but I think it had to be said 😅
As an introvert myself, I can totally understand Albedo's opinion toward social interaction, because I feel the exact same way. I love talking to people, but also love spending my time alone because it heals and revitalizes me
As a Diluc main and stan myself, I do agree he’s absurdly misinterpreted and I have a few comments to add:
1- I don’t even think Diluc and Kaeya dislike each other. It appears that Kaeya chose to confess about his mission during the same night that Crepus died. While I do believe Diluc overreacted, his whole world and his entire family had just fallen apart, he wasn’t thinking straight. And now that he’s back, both brothers don’t know how to truly apologize for that night. Still, Diluc kept that hideous vase and worries about Kaeya’s drinking, while Kaeya feels relieved when the traveler becomes Diluc’s sidekick because then he hss someone to rely on. They just... have a hard time interacting because of the heavy baggage’s of what they have both done to one another in a single night
2- You didn’t even include his voiceline in the teapot about making a drink with the traveler’s taste in mind. Like holy shit, he’s sooo sweet I can’t
Actually, from what I understood... Eula acted like a Lawrence to stop people from suspecting her. Her being nice actually antagonized the people more, thinking she's making fun of them, so acting like a Lawrence made people more comfortable with her somehow. Like she was flagged as evil, so her acting cold made it seem that she was honest, whereas her acting nice made it seem that she's actually hiding her true self or something.

This video is basically Aster making an "hearsay objection" to the fandom lol
Do you plan to make this a series? Just asking. Great video as always, btw!
Just a quick question, they mentioned that if a god does their job for their respective city, they gain powers right? and they said Venti is the weakest because he doesn't do his?
But he is the God of Freedom, and he lets people of Mondstadt have their freedom, doesn't that mean he actually does his job? and so he should be the most powerful of all.
Also he came back to save the people of Mond from slavery, he saved Dvalin from being manipulated, and he helped Stanley let go of his past, meaning he does his work. idk
The source of that info is Venti himself, so it's unknown if that's even true. But I would say yeah, Venti is SEVERELY downplaying himself maybe for privacy reasons
Ningguang suggestion: I found in my original interpretation of her that she was a stuffy, Mora-grubbing official who just wanted to rake in more and more cash at whatever cost. But as I explored her stories, I realized a couple things: A. I was entirely correct, and B. There was a reason behind her Mora-grubbing ways. She was extremely poor from a very young age, walking tirelessly up and down Yaoguang Shoal, trying to make even ten Mora a day. Then she got her Vision by pure chance (who knew the husk of another money hungry Vision wielder would just fall into her hands?) and suddenly she was propelled to the upper echelons of society. In a way, her tendency to chase Mora is her way of trying to avoid the previously traumatic situation of poverty she was forced into. A defense mechanism not unlike Eula's.
"lots of hearsay" ?
I see what you did there!
It's always bugged me when people dumb Diluc down to just being a grumpy loner. Like literally during one of the quests, he's shown to giddily fuck around with experiments and slimes and uses his money to take care of any damage. I remember replaying some of the quests on my alt account and finding it absolutely hilarious.
One other aspect of Albedo being a loner at times is probably because he considers himself to be a ticking time bomb, as the dragon, Durinn, was used as a weapon, he thinks he too may be used similarly.
for me, one of the biggest misconception in Genshin Impact is... just because the character spend time together, compliment each other or even admire each other in lore doesn't mean they are in a romantic relationship with each other, whether it's a straight relationship or a homosexual one. This may be heavily involved with the fanbase's headcanons but this have created further misconception or even streotypes to the actual characters in the game.
Venti and Eula
Venti isn't just a drunk femboy- he chose not to govern his people in order to give them Freedom, the same way Zhongli ran Liyue through Contracts. I hate how people always dumb him down as if the two very first things we learn about him AREN'T that he's caring and wise which we learn through the story of Venti's wisdom helping birds fly and how he cares for Dvalin the first time we see him- not to mention how he never gives up and when Signora is attacking him and the traveler- the second the traveler seems to be in trouble- hes concerned about them. I feel like the community takes Venti's maturity in Not Taking Offense whenever someone insults him as Him Agreeing, but just cause he doesnt get mad doesn't mean he agrees with what people say about him: he's old and wise as hell, its like an adult not disagreeing when a child makes an incorrect but harmless statement [in my opinion].
and Eula-
Wasn't executed as well as she could have been but Amber tells it plainly, Eula is sad about everyone hating her and does the best she can to make people happy. She uses her demeanour and words like "vengeance" and "revenge" to keep up appearances but ultimately all the revenge we've seen of her [that I can remember] is just her doing nice things for people- just cause she has a harsh exterior doesn't mean the community should brush her kindness under the rug
My biggest pet peeves of misconceptions from this fandom: "Ayaka is a manipulater" ; "Sara and Ei wanted the death of Kazuha's friend" ; "Hu Tao is hated by the people of Liyue" "Eula deserves that treatment, because of her behaviour in her story quest" ; "Traveler can't think for themselves so everyone is telling them what to do, when they don't care about the problems they're involved in" ; "Why didn't Ayaka and Ayato do something against the Vision Hunt Decree, when they have the resources"; "Everyone just uses Traveler without carrying about them or wanting to help them"
These are mostly opinions I saw on tik tok 💀
Hu Tao is definitely hated by everyone in Liyue. Nobody wants to hold a 2 minute conversation with her, they just repel her because she is a funeral parlor director, and it's unlucky/taboo to talk to someone related with death. You can see the disgust common folk of Liyue have towards funeral workers, a pretty good example is that lady who stands outside the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor at night, everyone considers her an outcast. If a normal worker in her face so much atrocities, imagine how much Hu Tao has to face, beginning from her teenage years. Only Liyue people who are genuinely interested in her are Zhongli, Xingqiu and Xiangling. Even with Xingqiu it's more of a professional relationship than a friendship.
@@gamerhead007 From what I've heard from their voice lines, it seemed they find her weird and annoying at times, or her job uncomfortable, but hate...idk, isn't it exaggerated/gen? Only maybe Qiqi but is understandable there.. 🤔
Misconception?
"Everyplayable character is good person". I hate that misconception lmao
while I do agree that amber is more than a flat character, I don't people should have to read the manga to get that character.
it's hoyo fault for not including her in any event.
@@KoeSeer The Susbedo event : Excuse me bish what-?
1) The abyss sibling is def misinterpreted to me.
I feel like the community treat them as just plain evil and cold with no emotions or empathy for anyone, which is the entire opposite of their character.
An antagonist sure has thoughts and ideals opposite to the protagonist, but that doesn't mean they're fully evil.
The abyss sibling actually resembles a lot your regular shonen protagonist or one of the good guys, with the thought "if there's even 1% of chance it works, then we should try it!", which shows how "foolish" we can get because of our empathy and emotions when we don't listen to our rationnal selves and become not objective.
The abyss sibling is probably the most empathetic and pure twin out of the two. But when you see a whole "innocent" nation being destroyed and spend 500 years all alone after understanding who destroyed it and why as well as the true nature of the world of Teyvat, you can't be all bubbly and smiley. Our twin experienced so many things, it kind of change the way they show themselves. They still have emotions, they still are empathetic, but this innocence of theirs quite transformed and became something dangerous.
Of course, I'm not saying we can call them "good" either, I believe they also want to destroy the nations of Teyvat for revenge or smt ? Not sure, but even without that, not good doesn't mean plain evil, and a protaginist may be less empathetic and innocent than an antagonist.
2) Just Aether and Lumine in general, but maybe less...
Aether and Lumine are characterized by the community as respectively "sweet/cold", which I don't think is true.
I believe the twins have a similar personnality, it shows when you choose Lumine as your traveler, she still make jokes, laughs etc... but if you chose Aether, as I said previously, her personnality altered a little because of all the things she's experienced.
But there's a kind of double standard I don't really understand in the community : Most think Aether is the canon traveler _(which I don't want to debate on, but just know that Hoyo confirmed both could be the traveler and that there were no canon in the first place. We can say however he's "canon" in most of their promo stuff's timeline)_ but paradoxally, think he's all sweet and soft.
But I can't see at any moment the Traveler being "soft/sweet" at all. For the most part, they're smuggy, jokey and sarcastic, sometimes cold and direct and just say straight up what they think even if it doesn't please the others. Which isn't really how the general community portrays Aether.
Even on the drawings where the two are drawn separately or at the same time, like one of the Irodori festival that Klee and Yoimiya drawn, Aether is making a jaded face while Lumine is smiling and looks more bubbly and expressive.
Considering the general community thinks of Lumine as the canon abyss princess, it matches what I said previously, as our sibling is probably the most innocent/pure out of the two of us, and is pretty empathetic and emotional, to the point it can lead them to make chaotic mistakes. Her design is also coloured in white, which symbolizes purity and a light blue for softness and peace. Even her flowers mean "the tenderness of the homeland", which further empathizes the softness she's suppposed to represent.
yes, I agree. the MC knows how famous they are in Teyvat and will use their feat and achievements as leverage point for their "hiring price". They're a bit cocky about it, but I mean, come on, when your known feat is "help solve the dragon crisis in Mondstadt", or "help defeating an ancient god that almsot drown Liyue", you will put some hefty price for your talent.
They don't accept low paying commissions like "saving a cat" or "get 20 sweet flowers". They straight up picking the most dangerous ones like "there's a group of rogue samurai terrorize the village, chase them down, preferably kill them", or "there's whole base of hilichurl and lawachurl making some bombs, neutralize them all".
actually I have to disagree with you on the 'traveler is not sweet/soft' because they are. They are.The thing is,however,is that they also - as you said - are sassy, jokey etc.Remember, humane beings aren't usually as easy as being A or B.Just like the abyss twin who seems neither utterly good nor evil, the traveler also holds all of those personality traits..One simply does not exclude the other, and I see a lot of people do that to them and other characters as well quite often.Aether and Lumine can be sweet and cute and they are,but they also can be cocky, mean. etcTho from what I've observed Aether is more emotioanl twin while Lumine is more reserved but that doesn't mean she's cold or mean and emotionless. If I had to describe these two it would be like sun and moon, or ying and yang: opposites and different but the same and where different, they complete each other and create a whole. And about a certain traveler being canon - every traveler is canon,is just the fact that we see Aether in promo means that this is Mihoyo point of view, but that doesn't mean it is the only rightful and ultimate cannon. It's just Pov. And Lumine more innocent..nah.They both are to some extent in certain areas tbh,but that's how I see it and I could be wrong since in the end we are yet to find out more about the twins since they're still an enigma to us.But I do agree with your statement about the abyss twin being often portrayed by the community as utterly evil which the more you pay attention to the story the more you realise that it isn't like that.Once again, nothing is black and white and one does not exclude the other, and it seems to be a running theme in the whole Genshin at least of now.
The way I see it, the Sibling isn't outright evil, but that doesn't make them any less of a villain or save some of their more questionable aspects. We still have to remember that it was the Abyss Order that planned Dvalin's attack on Mondstadt, after all (with the Sibling themselves implied to have engineered the entire thing). They're empathetic and it's understandable to see where they're coming from, but it begs to question what they're even going for by allying with the Abyss' goals (which, so far, is still vague on how they're going to go about rebelling against the Heavenly Principles apart from just more random destruction) and if they're even giving any thought into how it'll affect their relationship with the Traveler (since so far it's had a very negative impact given how the Traveler's still reeling from the revelation).
To me personally, they're selectively empathetic. They can be passionate and can care about the wellbeing of others, but only those that matter to them personally. In this case, it would be Khaenri'ahns and the Traveler. Everyone else? Probably worth as much as a speck of dirt. It feels like they care more about the *idea* of being empathetic and living up to it without any concerns as to what that supposed empathy should entail. That doesn't mean that they're *not* empathetic overall, but the way they go about said empathy makes me wonder how much they care if they seem to have little regard for the consequences.
The whole chasm quest, i was waiting for the option to ditch dain and side with the abyss only for it to never come.
He just wound me up with “only i know this curse well” to being surprised by the fountain. Guess you don’t know the curse as well as you thought Dain? I agreed with the small chance to reverse the curse because the hulichurls were suffering beforehand.
The problem with the Abyss is the issue of it being extremely corruptive and toxic to everything that isn't the Abyss. Nothing good happens when the Abyss interacts with humans etc. Just pain, insanity and death.
Even IF the goal of overthrowing Celestia can be seen as noble, the Abyss doing it likely won't benefit the world.
I really hate it when people make diluc hating kaeya his whole personality like no??? he does not hate him at all😭
As a Keqing main, I hate hate hate when people portray her as a "Morax simp" bc of that one voiceline. Keqing is critical of Rex Lapis, maybe the only critical voice in Liyue, bc she believes that humans don't need the gods and that their blind devotion to the archons is hindering their progress. For a long time, Keqing despised the gods and even tried to destroy her vision bc everyone gave the gods credit for the things she achieved through her own hard work. However, as she got older, she learned of all the things Morax has done for Liyue. She realized that he too has worked hard to protect the nation she loves, and she grew to respect him for it. That's why she now occasionally buys "Geo Archon paraphernalia", because she respects Rex Lapis and his contributions to Liyue. Also, she loves shopping, so yk, she might have just seen a shiny figure and thought "oooo".
def xiao and diluc, the amount of times i've heart xiao is emo and diluc is grumpy scares me
Omg the Xiao one is literally everywhere
the EN VA is probably to blame on Xiao's case, or rather who ever approved Xiao's EN personality, he's really not that super emo in the JP and CN VAs.
@@f.b.l.9813 i think so too, the casting was such a bad idea and the direction they went with it too
@@f.b.l.9813 its not only his va too it’s just his first read on his story his lonely doesn’t like people and all those =emo and stuff
Hu Tao
If someone actually takes their time to read her Stories, it is said that she actually regrets having wanted to bury Qiqi against her will after seeing how much will to live she still has, and now she just wants to befriend her. But the damage was already done, and Qiqi, having memory issues, can only remembers her as the too warm person who wants to bury her like a corpse. Hu Tao's jokester personality and innability to read the room probably didn't helped.
"Since Qiqi's will to live is so strong, she should not be forced to move on. Given the circumstances, she could only be treated as a rare exception that eludes the natural laws." Hu Tao's Character Story 4
"Find a guy like Diluc, I guess"
I am finding a guy like Fire Batman, and so far, no luck
I enjoy a broke Zhongli meme every once in a while, but MAN, some people act like he couldn't make a good financial transaction to save his life.
Broskis, Zhongli is the god of commerce, currency, and contracts. He literally invented mora. The reason he keeps making large purchases without really thinking about what it entails is because he is new to living by mortal rules. It's stated somewhere (Please fact-check me if I'm incorrect) that he could create enough mora to cover all of his needs, but he wants to live by the rules of his people and so he doesn't. He has a stable job and, in time, he'll adapt just as well as the next person to living like everyone else. He doesn't want to be a so-called 'Bourgeois leech', as Paimon so eloquently called him.
I guess my main issue is that these characters are given so much depth and potential to grow, but because it's all so much, they tend to get simplified to one or two core traits for convenience. This has happened in-game with people, too (Example: Venti. In the latest event, almost every single line he had was about drinking and/or alcohol. Practically nothing else. His character had a lot of potential in this event, such as his unique situation as the god of Freedom coming to a country that up till then was under a strained, difficult rule. I was cheated out of a Raiden/Venti interaction, Hoyoverse).
But I come from the standpoint of a writer, so I probably analyze this far more than any casual player needs to. It's just a shame to see characters portrayed with such one-note flatness.
Why does every comment I write turn into an essay, lol
I love Venti so much. And it's so sad to see people water him down to "haha playful dumb body copier he's such a prankster" when it's evident that's a coping mechanism / persona bit. A lot of it IS his own personality, but when he talks as Barbatos, he is gentler, more wise. Still a little shit but much more godly even.
I believe Ningguang is often misinterpreted as a ''Rich Lady'' kinda stereotype when in actuallity she's very, VERY humble. Yet ambicious, she restrings herself from having commodities and will often preffer more simplier delights both in food and interests. That being said she is a business woman and she's always working, everytime, but her love for mora is not only to get richer, mora to her means everything because it's factually true that mora solves everything, and she solved her own life by herself.
She did mention she wants the jade chamber to shadow over the seven nations but everytime she uses the jade chamber it's for a greater good and she's willing to sacrifice all she has worked on.
I feel the reason to Diluc's widely perceived spiteful nature is due to the screen time he's been given in the quests. He involves with Kaeya and the favonius, and the abyss. They're all situations where his bitterness would surface. So, what the general audience gets to see of Diluc is spiteful batman, further reinforced by diona and klees opinions
YES, THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANALYSIS OF ALBEDO, I'M SO SICK OF HIM BEING SEEN AS MANIPULATIVE JUST BECAUSE HE'S AN INTROVERT AAAA
sorry, it's just that he's my favorite character and I see a lot of myself in him, and people equating being quiet to hating people makes my blood boil, fiction or otherwise.
also, HE SAYS IT HIMSELF IN THE 2.3 EVENT: "I won't participate in the conversation much, but please know that I'm enjoying the atmosphere all the same"
can't wait to see more of this series! 💗
sometimes i feel bad for hu tao because like the whole of liyue basically hates her for what? not fully understanding social norms? hu tao is a very genuine character who truly does just want to do her job well, and simply doesn't understand the common perception of death because she grew up so familiar with it, but she respects death to the utmost, because she is so familiar with it.
Yes, she is mischievous as well, but she's also just this girl who likes hanging out in creepy places and writing poetry, which is such a mood. She's very positive about almost everyone in liyue and has a lot of respect and admiration for them. If you listen to her voice lines, you'll realise that she's a much more gentle and pure character than people think, and even her burying qiqi was a misunderstanding.
Like,, what would you do if u saw this shady guy with a zombie child- because hu tao respects the cycle of life and death, and because she doesn't like baizhu, she assumed qiqi was suffering by not being able to pass on. When she understood the situation better, that qiqi recieved her vision and was brought back to life because of how strong her will to live is, hu tao was able to make an exception and wants to make it up to qiqi by spoiling her,, but qiqi is understandably pretty traumatised and still stays away from her,,, anyway i love hu tao. Don't get me wrong i still think she's quite chaotic but she's not a bad person!
Also eula and diluc but you covered them!
also i feel that her and xiangling should be considered on at least equivalent levels of weirdness by the people of liyue,,, like xiangling is great and i love her a lot but like you'd expect more people to be freaked out by how,, creative,,,, some of her recipes are
i feel with the archons, people have expected too much from them in terms of their godhood. such as venti’s been misinterpreted as abandoning mondstadt, zhongli’s seen as backstabbing liyue and ei… well, it’s different, but it’s more that she came from a place of deep grief and didn’t know how to process it.
like you said, these gods aren’t omnipotent and omnipresent. they weren’t born gods in the first place. what their writing tells us is the gods of teyvat make mistakes. they may not know what’s best for the people. they have more human qualities than we thought. and even MORE importantly, it would be a great disservice to the people if they solely relied on them and looked to them as these all powerful gods who will protect them and solve all their problems no matter what.
there have been side quests and commissions where they send this message. the one where we have to pick up the fortune slips at the narukami shrine comes to mind: they throw the slips on the roof bec of a rumour that it’ll dispel their bad luck, and the shrine maiden is frustrated bc they don’t get the message. they have to do things themselves.
this is what venti has been doing. and this is what zhongli was trying to do in the liyue archon quest. this does NOT mean they don’t care about their nations at all. venti wakes up in mondstadt’s time of need. zhongli tells us that should the adepti and the qixing fail in protecting liyue, he will step in. they WILL do things if they have to. the POINT is they shouldn’t have to all the time. gods shouldn’t babysit their people. the game’s current timeline is the start of a huge shift in teyvat’s culture: the people need to stand up for themselves.
also thank you for the fischl section!! TT this fischl main is incredibly happy lolol
Kaeya, I’ve seen a lot of people dislike him because of fanon Kaeya being overly flirty.
When in reality he uses a façade of charm to get through certain situations. He’s actually a really sad character type. He(and Diluc both) is full of regret and sorrow.
(Y’all can add if you’d like but that’s what I’ve seen)
I'll be honest here, Venti's misinterpretation is the most frustrating one for me🤦♂️
Heck, even 1 of my friends still believed that Zhongli & Ei hates Venti just bc he's an alcoholic... Like for example, if Zhongli really hate Venti that much, I think Venti would be as good as a dead bird long time ago after he pours wine on Zhongli's head(there's a lore about this)🤷♂️
I tried to tell my friend that he's misinterpreting Venti, but I also don't wanna start a petty argument. So, if he's still wanna misinterpreting Venti, I'll just be 😐
Edit : oh & also, Venti's misinterpretation is 1 of the reasons why I disliked MatPat's Genshin video🚶🚶🚶
Dude I feel you here. I have a friend who when I dare contradict ventis lore will complain that I only talk about venti and that’s it like they don’t only talk about kaeya and diluc.
Venti is far more then just a fun loving drunk bard , sure he is fun he is loving and caring and a bard who drinks but there is more to that character that is always overlooked. He has one of the most tragic backstories similar to all of the immortals in the game. Venti is a wise character and forever a semi complicated character. I will always get upset when someone who doesn’t pay attention to venti , his lore , analysis videos and stories dares say that people who do pay attention to his lore and the whole of genshins lore is wrong and they don’t know what they talk about.
That’s why misinterpretations exist, no Zhongli doesn’t hate venti. It’s far from it. Zhongli and venti are like siblings in which they will squabble and act (zhongli) like they hate each other but they’re all they have. If one was to die especially venti , the Zhongli would’ve lost everything considering venti and him are close to each other. Raiden ei however doesn’t know venti that much so she may misinterpret him from when she first met him but if she were to meet him more she may enjoy his company since it may remind her as her deceased friends.
I could go on and on but I won’t bore you since you already know this much. But just know that i understand what you mean. Especially when it gets awkward if you dare say otherwise to a friend.
immediately subscribed. Thank you SO MUCH for this video, especially, the Venti bit! His Archonhood is such a complex approach that it was awesome to see you break it down like this!
Id say one of the most prominent misconceptions that derive from headcannons is people thinking Yae and Ei are lesbians; I am very pro LGBT but forcing it on characters to the point of bullying others who ship other male characters with them is not really cool
PLS plus the fact that eimiko itself is pretty toxic... like yeah, toxic relationships can happen, but if u want rep, there are plenty of healthy ships u can make !! i personally like yun jin x xinyan and ive seen a lot of ppl shipping jean and eula or jean and lisa !
"Venti didn't abandon Mond" - what a strong leg to start on. Yesh.
Zhongli first brought up erosion over what happened to Azhada. Then we found out that Raiden’s robot body ideas came from wanting to counter erosion. Maybe Venti goes into stasis mode as his way to counter erosion.
Maybe Venti hasn’t gone back into stasis because he realizes the Tsarista is approaching endgame in her war against Celestia.
