Just to understand that right. To get this new cool level 80 BLU weapon I have to do content that a BLU is unable to do? And to do this content, I need to clear the current savage tier, multiple weeks to get BiS to even be usefull in the criterion? Sound great.... I have another Idea for the next expansion. Lets lock the next crafter relics behind a Ultimate fight. Players will love that.
If you think of criterion savage as a sort of mini-ultimate then the shiny weapons make a lot of sense, that said it's still really dumb locking the shiny BLU weapon to content BLU can't even do lmao
I think the saddest BLU News we’ve had is that when they were discussing new PvP Ideas, a BLU Mage Fortnite-Style Battle Royale was proposed.. ..only to be replaced with Crystaline Conflict.
I wouldn't mind an icon update where if you have Mimicry Tank/Healer it'll change to Blue or Green, the updated Duty Support does this to making Samurai icon blue for Hien and Gosetsu. Would also be great with this because could also make creating PF and setting Blu Roles to "Blue: Tank" and "Blue: Healer" by linking the icon change to this. Small qol update and possibly open future of being able to queue DF with this. Also BLU PVP with preset PVP skills like the reguler jobs get. When they said Blu Updates during the FanFest keynotes I felt a little hope, but as soon as they announced another limited job coming it left a dirty taste in my mouth of utter disappointment
This would be a godsend in queuing for duties in PF. Really sick of joining only to be told to change my loadout. We are still awaiting Blue Mage PVP, I really hope it isn't battle royal, there is a real oppurtunity to utilise its learning, or even allow a BLU vs the rest pvp mode. :P That being said, the problem with the icon role thing with duties is they fact mimicry can be toggled at will.
The biggest slap in the face was not letting BLU into Eureka/Bozja. Eureka especially, there's a lot of interesting stuff you could do when you have access to all the elements and like, attacking an Ice mob with a Fire-based spell could do bonus damage (on top of the Magia Wheel); that would have been pretty cool and a neat way to pseudo-revive Eureka or just give it more longevity in general (just keep Missile/Death spells out of NMs). But yeah, totally agree, it's really sad that this is the state of BLU. I was so excited to hear about a second limited job but then quickly came back to reality remembering 6.45....
It's also quite weird when this last BLU patch, we actually got blocked from using some of the fixed damage spells on fates and such. Like you said, BLU is about doing things differently/weird/wacky. BLU can't even do field ops (Eureka or Bozja), has to go a very roundabout to get some achievements or clear blue log stuff for regular DF content and now they tie a reward like this to a piece of content they can't access directly? Starting to think these guys are not playing their game again.
Not to mention Seat of Sacrifice and Memoria Misera are locked for BLU. Diamond weapon normal was likely not even tested. Whoever was in lead of the blue mage content gave me a vibe that they’re treating this update like a chore, rather than something they pour heart into
Now I understand the same team was focusing on ff16, which would explain the changes that made the game boring and streamlined from shadowbringers onward, yet I was under the impression things like Sting, Self destruct, Transfusion and Diamondback were the Blue Mage flavoured "Limit Break styled" spells, White Wind could be the looser heal flavour. The most mind boggling thing is that Diamondback has stronger damage reduction than Tank Limit Break, which is hilarious as it can stack with Diamondback -- still not hard to add a check if Tank LB3 or Diamondback is on the player for the mechanic, if they didn't want to add the LB tag to Diamondback. Just one more clause for the switch/if statement. Could be just me yet Blue Mage oddly seems to almost be an archive of older mechanics with some its spells. Exuviation was a Scholar thing with aoe cleansing for example. This is assuming any of the weird and wacky things Blue Mage has access to isn't immediately useless due to immunities, looking at you Mustard Bomb. It's almost like the devs are scared of allowing some of the more unique effects that only Blue Mage has access to could ruin the experience, which in turn ruins the point of the class -- variety, flexibility. Speaking of, notice we got 4 less spells with the level 80 upgrade than the previous 2 expansion upgrades? 20 instead of 24. I guess endgame content being solo'd by a single Warrior day 1 is no problem or Gunbreaker having no original abilities or useful effects is fine. Stuff me for wanting to have a class that demands knowledge of all other roles and can assist someone with their role if they are having trouble, or are still learning it -- or give the party one last lifeline to pull a rabbit out of a hat and succeed. A lot of the utility spells Blue Mage has shines most when paired with other classes, it unlock their potential as well as the Blue Mages. It's not like the other combat classes don't already clash with each other, especially when doubling up.
I wouldn't be surprised if they're getting ready to retire BLU in Dawntrail with a final hurrah because the New World is the origin of BLU. Then they're gonna just roll out beastmaster and replace it.
It's also strange how many trivial or forgotten parts of the game can't be done as BLU. Ultimates and Seat of Sacrifice would be more engaging, but there's at least figleafs for how they might do weird things. Why is BLU blocked from Command Missions or Trusts? Soloing the same dungeons with Basic Instinct isn't a problem, after all. Palace of the Dead/Heaven-on-High have separate leaderboards by class and an achievement for soloing it; I'd love something /really/ clever instead like unlocking spells inside these instances, but just having options for play would be nicer. I'm an outlier compared to the hardercore player-base, but BLU's really convenient as a way to run older content without either unsyncing it to trivially crush it or waiting on often-staggering queue timers -- BLU map runs are a blast, and they benefit a lot from some of the new spells, like Peat Pelt + Deep Clean. Yet even that seems underserved.
@@gattsuru I still believe Eureka was a huge missed oppurtunity for BLU to explore. All they'd have to do is say something along the lines of: "Hey, you have to learn spells strictly from Eureka (maybe have separate PVE and Eurekan Spellbooks?), no you can't use Logos Actions, but your spells have Logos-like effects built into them." This would sort of return some of BLU more wild and roaming nature back, hone in on it's overworld specialisation. This could also apply to something like Bozja where again maybe utilise a "Bozjan Spellbook" or sort of carry over some of the Eurekan spells into it. Would be interesting to see the Choco Meteor off. The only wrinkle is that Square would have to make the spells interesting beyond what they've done with the more recent spells mantra of "bigger potency, 1 instance applied at a time, be more inline with other classes." I'd love to see them capitalise on the more unique effects foes abilities thrown at us, and throw them right back -- let's see you handle your own mechanic schtick. Boss immunities be damned.
I'm worried this trend with continue when the new Limited Job comes out in DT. It'll be the Andy from Toy Story meme with SE dropping the BLU. "We don't want to make new stuff for you anymore..."
Oh, I'm sure we'll get a Pandaemonium update for BLU. But it will probably be as phoned-in as the Eden update was - lingering issues with the class not addressed, new spells are either cool but unusable (shiltron, force field, etc) or just simply potency bumps to replace other spells (like how glass dance was essentially knocked out to make room for sea shanty/being mortal.) But yeah, I'm with you - I'm expecting a Toy Story moment. They put so little effort into BLU with the Eden update, I can't envision them putting actual effort into two different LJ's.
I never thought about the new criterion weapon in that way, but you're right Even if you're the best BLU in the world, if you can't transfer those skills to another job you can't (and may never be able to) get their shiny new weapon. Bizarre
I feel this video so hard. Blu is my favorite content in ff14, and it hurt so much to feel like just an afterthought or obligation with the lv80 patch after waiting for it all expansion
The fact that there was only 3 Field Spells and absolutely zero explanation for why Martyn somehow had Norvrant spells is what did it for me. ShB is already a gaping wound in the lore and quality of this game but the 70-80 BLU stuff was salt in that wound.
Everyone was hoping we'd get the only level 4 Limit Break. Which would be on brand for the penchant for committing our all. Yet this also shows that Blue Mage has yet to see it's limit so it can break it like the devs fears.
my idea for a limit break for blue is having a free instant res stocked until you die, so dps can use final sting as a kinda big load damage moment that or it resets cooldowns maybe? Idk maybe there are some better ideas.
Theres just no incentive anymore. I loved going for the morbol when it came out. Doing A8S with all blue was some of the most fun ive had raiding. But since we hit 70, we've just been told "no." for everything. Honestly it just feels like a damn wonderous trials book now. Do your weeklies and shelf it. Spells need an overhaul. Its already annoying for new players to get into with the sheer amout of filler spells they have to get to be viable (specifically needing angel whisper) in end content. I actually did not know about the criterion savage weapon, what a slap in the face. It literally makes no sense. Its just "hey, heres a weapon you can show off on your blue mage for doing other unrelated content." While I love the job, everything thats been added recently is arbitrary. The ultimates I was annoyed with when it was announced we couldnt do them, but what ever hardcore players can be mad, but I get it. Bozja and Eureka, just, why not? Itd help breathe more air into the content. Its a job for old content, this stuff is old content. Its just silly we're been gated from CASUAL content now. No limit break is silly, I know the dps is absurd already, but with final sting loosing more and more value with the HP scaling we're encountering it feels like we have no big showtime move now. Honestly, I miss seeing and jumping into all the random PFs going for the morbol mount and helping them.
not just level 90 content, more or less ultimate difficulty level 90 content that is extremely punishing (1 mistake = lose up to 20 minutes of progress)!
I’m the kind of player who’s really only here for the blue mage. After clearing Shadowbringers I let my subscription expire, came back for the BLU update, and let it expire again without even bothering to do the Eden raids because a title on its own wasn’t enticing. The exquisite umbrella is news to me and it’s extremely disappointing. I really enjoyed XIV and blue mage in specific, but I don’t know what they’re realistically going to add to the game that could get me back.
I liked leveling blue mage, unlocking all spells and the carnival stages and am quite disappointed that there's was literally nothing to do with blue mage except for the one single carnival stage. As a generally more casual player (hardest content I usually clear is EX Trials, and only occasionally touch a savage raid) it feels like there's less and less new interesting content available for me with each expansion, not just in regards to blue mage. It's rather sad to see considering the continued increase in playerbase over the years. It seem like literally nothing extra got invested (people and time wise) than what they already had over 10 years ago when they started reworking the failed 1.0 into A Realm Reborn...
Looks like FFXIV is going to die in two years because Yoshida only cares about his pockets and not the players who don't have time to farm up Item Level 900 gear. FFXIV is in cahoots with Pokemon to screw casual players in spades. X(
@@cj_skywalkerIts not going to die in two years thats very silly. The simple fact is that this sadly is a "Limited Job" and they honestly dont really care to much about this when the majority of the player base doesnt like the content... I got the Morboro mount with a staic just last week and everyone hated the BLU class design but still did the content and are very content to never touch it again. But to say its going to die because of BLU? common man lmao... while it is sad and I agree with everything in this video that is a STRECH
@@toametrua huge stretch. If the game was gonna die, that would have happened 12 years ago in 1.0 lol millions of people play this game faithfully. I haven’t unlocked all my blue mage stuff either. I’m sure once I’m done I may feel like there’s nothing left to do but there’s more to do in the game so I’m sure I’ll find something
@@toametru I didn't really mean it. I know the game won't die because the casuals decide not to play it. There will always be the hardcore group that loves statics. And I may be part casual but I did enjoy finally getting through Eden Savage. But I am very sad that they decided to add a new limited job when I hear stuff like "Blue Mage sucks." I think that the team should rename the 'limited job' to 'side content.'
@@cj_skywalker ill be real with you endwalker has been super casual friendly from the relic to island sanctuary. the players who have been screwed the most are the midcore players (you guys who want to do more then roulettes but less then savages youre not really casual) you literally have nothing in the game and to add salt into the wound the classes have become less fun due to parsers complaining about inconsistent damage and healers being forced to still do damage despite having no interesting dps toolkit. I do think the game will fall off a bit if the midcore issues arent fixed and especially if the class homogenisation continues, since EW has completely tied up lose ends from 1.0 im hoping for a complete overhaul of the game from combat, gearing, story and content since we are entering a new era in dawntreader.
I completely agree. This update was an absolute joke. The only thing I was super happy about is that it allowed me to solo and learn my omega spells far more easily and reliably. Yay goblin punch I guess?
I've been on FFXIV break since before the 80 patch hit so learning about a BLU glam locked behind Criterion Savage as well as Seat of Sacrifice being impossible because of a god damn buff check? Wow. Fucking great job SE. Great job.
I'd love if someone asked YoshiP why we should get excited or care at all about a new limited job considering how they've treated Blue Mage. I'm expected a reskinned BlueMage playstyle but instead of enemies' skills the beast just pops out for the attack duration like a summoner's. I think Blue Mage's only hope is that the devs truly stop caring enough about old content that they give us the privilege to enter and fuck around, actual tailored content or apparently any rewards at all are out the window.
I believe limited jobs are jobs where breaking the mold is expected. So another limited job should have somewhat a unique gameplay instead of just another BLU cuz who needs two BLU jobs. Like, if it is a Beastmaster as the next limited job, I kinda expect it marks the return of the pet-with-HP system, instead of just summon the pet for skill animation.
BLU's about half the reason I want to get involved in XIV. The other half being this manic will to grind every class to max with a single character just 'cause it's possible. But BLU was really the class that made me think "this is the MMO I want to play". I'm a big fan of classes with weird/different mechanics in general in this game (AST/NIN), and honestly, our favorite Sky-clad Mages is the summum of this experience, so much so that I think it's actually the one class that should be canonical for the Warrior of Light, considering all the BLU spells we learn, we actually _learn._ It's not just a reminiscence coming from a soul crystal that we are somehow managing to channel through our body. Martyn said it so himself. There's only one thing in his BLU crystals, and its the Learning ability. Everything else - we have to fight to get, quite literally. Seems like Square is willing to go Meta on this subject...
I love BLU. Doing old content and getting new spells, clearing old EX trials solo for some mounts I have not gotten, and now just using BLU to do fates in shadowbringer zones for those 60 fates thing which is a lot faster now with BLU. But yeah, there is so much they can do with BLU and I don’t think a new limited job is worth it. Just keep BLU and improve it. Let us into the deep dungeons of Palace and Heaven. And even get into Eureka, Bozja. New carnival stages. There’s just so much but none of it is given. So when I hear about a new limited job it makes me fear that that new limited will also be thrown to the side and both BLU and it will get nothing else. The stuff announced at fanfest for BLU just didn’t give any more hope.
I feel like the easiest thing they could do is just actually let blue mage do all the content it technically could at its respective level. Ultimates, Eureka, Bozja, DRS, Deep Dungeons, there's so many cool things that are already there that people would be willing to do just to say they did it. Don't necessarily need unique rewards for everything (some would be nice) just the ability to do it I was frankly concerned that this was an indicator we'd be just getting token updates from now on just to be able to say its still content being supported. Then they actually announced a new limited job. Does make me wonder if the paltry update is because they're devoting resources to that? I hope that's the case and maybe we get a much more substantial update next expac along with whatever the new limited job is. Blue mage is such a fun way to do old content, but if it keeps getting barred from most content anyways and updates continue to be paltry, then I can't imagine interest will continue
Just let BLU do ultimates. A group of 8 BLU and give them a unique title and a unique totem, which can only buy a BLU ultimate weapon. Also the fact we didnt get a mount for Omega + Eden is so weird!
Go off dude. Out of every content creator in this community, you should be allowed to rant like this on a regular basis. I can't speak for everyone but their recent decisions for Blue Mage has killed any remaining hope I have for the job, so I'm glad I'm not the only one upset about this. Doubt Square will listen to us though... To my fellow BLUs, shout-outs to you all. We're already enough of a minority so it's awesome this community is still going strong.
My day job is as a Site Reliability Engineer. It's literally my job to work with infrastructure and keep it running, sometimes that's some old shitty code. I suck it up and deal with it and fix it. I don't just work on making my desk look clean and say "ah sorry, old code, can't do anything about it." I could rant about this stuff for literally days. The UI jank and how unresponsive most of the systems are is just so inexcusable.
I'm neither a software engineer or an IT but this is exactly the kind of excuse I constantly hear when a new Bethesda game gets released. No it's not because of the "engine" being old or bad, it's because the devs are either extremely lazy or incompetent. Especially now when .x patch cycles have been extended to 4 months AND the game is still growing in revenue which is a miracle for Square Enix standards. Coincidentally both FFXIV and Bethesda games have the same kind of apologists so it's funny seeing the parallels.
when BLU was introduced, we got 25 carnival trials to go with it, all of which were puzle "fights" that were fun to solve. then with the first BLU update, we got... 5... new carnivals, all of which were "puzle" fights that blocked off most of the fun stuff you could do in the previous ones. then every update after that has just been the one boss fight and that's it. it's very telling. lower level BLU content was pretty fun just from the cheesy stuff you could do. But after that, you're forced to play it like a whacky, weaker version of the regular jobs. To the point that, when going for the new spells, the go-to for most parties if people are dead at the end is "don't wait for rez cooldowns, just kill it, then we go again and the people who got the spell can bring *actual* tank/healer to make it easier". I'm not gonna complain about the relative lack of content because, I get it, putting in too much new content is an issue for new players. many people like to do "everything" and the more there is, the more overwhelming, so restricting new content each expansion into a formula just works. But they seem to be so scared of "unbalanced" blue magic that they are steadily making the job into a chore to play for no real reason.
I will never understand why Angel Whisper has a CD, isn't BLU supposed to be broken OP? So many spells are like that while others are like someone tried to balance them for normal play.
@@magus13131 angel whisper has a CD because like white wind, it's a healer role spell that can be used without a healer build, and 8 rezzers do be a bit much. Though it absolutely should have a reduced CD if you had healer mimicry. But yeah. BLU was certainly OP early on, but with every expansion it feels more like they're trying to balance it, and end up weak instead
I really wanted us to get an Azure Rathalos Mount when we got the Level 70 update :( Idk man, I would be happy if we just got cool spells, unique titles and palette swapped mounts
What? I understand that Rathalos is in the game, but they are not going to release a recolor mount that Square Enix doesn't own and have it as achievement mount for content that's unrelated to the crossover.
As someone who did all BLU content in ShB, I was quite disappointed by BLU update in EW. The significant lack of rewards makes getting a group together a lot difficult. Locking BLU weapon behind Criterion savage was adding salt on wound. Not to mention that Seat of Sacrifice and Memoria Merisa are both locked on BLU, and Diamond Weapon normal was most likely not even tested on BLU. The only positive things were visual effects on spells like Titannia, and having a person assigned to be dot mage (breath of magic) in a coordinated setting. And speaking of spells, BLU rotation has also become rigid (fitting as many big hit oGCD as possible), and no unique aspects were brought (like no reliable utility spells). As someone who did all BLU content (all spells + all logs done + all achievement + morbol), this update gave me the impression of lack of effort and inspiration. Who is this content even for? When Yoshi-P announced new limited job coming in late DT, I immediately got concerned
Yeah. It's really disappointing how under-utilized Blue Mage is. SE has an issue with making effective reuse of old content in general, and BLU is just a really good example of it. Why can't BLU go into Eureka and Bozja? It would ruin the sanctity of the content? Cool, add new achievements and requirements for using BLU in CLL and DRS and BA and duels (no one cares about "balance" for the NMs and stuff, or if they do they're just being silly), or even require groups to be *all* BLU to enter (so you either have all BLU or no BLU.) Why can't BLU enter Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High? Separate leaderboards and achievements for them. Either require groups to be no/all BLU, or "any group with BLU in it is on BLU achievements and leaderboards." Same with ultimates (start with BLUWU, see how it works out, and then add others down the line if it's functional and people are engaging with it - like you said, just have separate achievements.) Why don't BLU have relics? Sure, it's some extra work for the art team (but also the kind of work that can be outsourced) and you'd need to flag them for those quests, but relics are a very common activity for players to do during lulls in content. They could do this in phases, it doesn't have to be all at once. Add BLU, RPR, SGE, and all the other classes to each relic in phases - ARR this patch, HW next patch, etc. As for no rewards for Eden? It's pretty fucking obvious what happened - they put our reward in the cash shop, instead. I don't think it's a coincidence that Shadowkeeper was put into the cash shop on the same patch that BLU got access to Eden. But like you said, even if they decided to do that, would it have been so hard to just take one of the other morbol or morbol-like monsters and implement it as a new mount? It would still suck, knowing we just got a reskinned morbol instead of a brand new mount... but at least it'd be *something!* I don't have any hype for the new LJ. In fact, I view it with a sense of forboding - because I don't think SE is going to actually devote real effort into two different LJs. I think they're going to leave BLU on maintenance mode and any and all real effort will be dedicated to the new LJ. I enjoy BLU, together with PvP it's basically the only thing that keeps me engaged with the game, and I just cannot understand why they put so little investment into it when it could be so much more. I mean, christ. Island Sanctuary is literally just Microsoft Excel: The Game, and people still show up and do it because of the tons of rewards associated with it. If you hang enough carrots from the stick, people *WILL* give your content a try. Maybe they should just consider putting more rewards into BLU participation? Like, once you have a few thousand tickets, what else is there to do with your allied seals? Combat materia? The combat materia they hand out like candy just for existing, and which you aren't going to use many of unless you're pentamelding for week 1 prog?
I really enjoy Blue Mage as a limited job. I wish we got the FF11 Blue Mage gear as the next set or some kind of relic weapon with progression. Hopefully they add more content in the future. And for crying out loud give us the option to hide the casting crystals when we cast spells.
I'm hoping that they let us get the elevated ester item a different way later down the line, like with divine twine which can be acquired from savage raids or weekly alliance raids or hunt currency.
Sadly that's what will happen. Limited Job 2 will start out strong and die out like Blue Mage is. But it's really reflective of their game design philosophy of introduce one thing in one patch just to abandon it in the next. I think they gave up on Blue Mage.
Blu has felt like a tack on for some time. But I really feel that legacy code comment. Just look at how awful they did at getting hair styles and older head assets to work with a hrothgar head. A freaking monthly subbed game and they can't get off their butt to fix it. Heck they even had heavensturn events that where current offering glam that is pointless to hroths. So, I wouldn't hold my breath for them to really do much or fix much for blu.
I quit raiding back in stormblood and nowadays I only go back to do them as blu because I find it so much more fun than otherwise. This video hit hard ngl, put into words a lot of disjointed thoughts I've had for while
yeah it was an odd addition, i think there isnt really a need for crit savage. I loved doing bluemage but since the lv80 drop the motivation has been lacking
The fact seat of sacrifice was just "nope" hurt so much. Looking at reductions alone, Diamondback is STRONGER than Tank LB3 (90% v 80%), but nope, doesn't have the flag, which was just heartbreaking. I was really, REALLY hoping it got some kind of way to utilize a limit break (even though I mostly just run stuff solo as blu). And yeah no field ops suck, lost and logos actions already turn the tide of those areas, would blu REALLY be that busted?
Force Field still makes me mad. The spells in the lv 80 update were already really thin on quality, and then I finished my spellbook months later and got... damage mit on a coin flip?? I was kind of surprised they had the audacity to promote Lv 90 BLU content in the Dawntrail after that. This is a good video and you're right to call out all of this BS - hopefully SE hears it.
I really want them to add BLU limitbreak from defeating Seat of Sacrifice Ex, the LB changing based on the kind of Aetheric Mimicry active.. just seems like the right place to learn it. That or from Endsinger?
The only real hope I have for the new limited job is that now they'll be more incentivized to create/add content for limited jobs in general, thus giving blue some more interesting stuff to do.
The encasualification of content continues. Square Enix is consistently and repeatedly gutting long-time content in favor of shallow and simple new content like Island Sanctuary. Guess it's BLU mage's head on the chopping block this time. Get ready to be vilified by the GCBTW for daring to criticise anything the devs do. The sycophants and apologists hate seeing criticism.
the fact that they are releasing another blu update before 7.0 and another limited job after 7.0 would mean they want more people to invest into this side of the game maybe if they made the game more accessible to limited jobs (field ops, deep dungeons ect) and gave them suitable rewards for doing so more people would invest into this side of the game (and perhaps stay subbed during content droughts because there is more to do)
I haven't been invested in BLU truth be told, it's hard to find anyone who wants to do BLU content with, I honestly mean that, I've been told by a group who do BLU stuff "oh you can join us, we can do content with you" yet never do they might as well call themselves a static. I want to like BLU but so much stuff put me off it, which is a shame, considering that I have great interest in it.
Yes. There is no SoS Extreme achievement because it _requires_ tank LB3 to survive the phase transition. We can do it on normal with chain ressing through it, but on Extreme the fight just resets if you don't have tank LB3.
I wish BLU could do the Variant/Criterion Dungeons and stuff like Eureka and Bozja. Our skill set is ideal for those types of content. Overall they spread the team too thin working on FFXVI and catching up from the pando, and that caused this expansion to languish towards the end. I hope they give us something more to chew on in the future.
I feel like BLU is a sympton of SQE's much larger issue of just failing to keep legacy content alive. Let's be real, anything that isn't a dungeon, raid, or trial isn't going to get much traffic beyond it's expansion shelf life, which is just bad. Especially bad when things like bozja and Eureka are level synced (which isn't nessisarily a bad thing, if we had actual people to do it with). Shadowbringers relics are, without friends, borderline unobtainable due to requiring DR, a dead instance. ya know what would've revived DR and DR savage? BLUE MAGE. Ya know what would've made the bozja bike actually obtainable due to lore entries from Daldria and CCL? BLUE MAGE. Just let BLU's actually fucking interact with other jobs. Remove the restrictions specfically for Bozja and Eureka. Let BLU que normally for DR, Bozja, Eureka, anything. Ultimates you can have some restrictions on, that's fine and I think pretty fair...But instead of being terrified of BLU being able to interact with normal jobs, LET IT. FFS, it's not that hard
I was really looking forward to a new mount tbh. While I love the Morbol and have been using it 99% I was very curious what the next one would be and if it'd be as iconic. Real letdown. The other points you made were good too and I agree about Criterion but then again, have there been other glam upgrades for BLU before? Feels like this one was an "at least you can get it instead of getting nothing as per usual". Then again, I might be wrong.
Has anyone ever thought og contacting the JP Server players and asking them to write feedback specifically for blue mage. Since SE is a japanese based branch, being able to directly translate from English to Japanese to go straight to their offices should be good enough to do something about it. I'm wondering since this job has always interested me and continues to do so with the amount of cool animations the job has tied to it and the fun things it can do. I think they didn't know what to do with this job because they are focused on other things like other expansions and raids and new jobs being added and balancing. But. its weird that blue gets singled out for seemingly no reason. Blue has always had patches at the end of an espansion... So... Why shouldn't that be an occassion to go out with a baang with the final classes of the Expansion? Blue should feel more like a little fun reward. something that allows for some stupid fun because you learn boss skills that put other skills to shame. If they don't want to balance fights with blue mage, then don't Just let them run content as you said in eight man groups and help players out. even like give them an ultimate as you said. Heck they can have their own whacky ultimate made out of other bosses. The whole job is about Mixing anf matching attacks together. why not make a boss specifically for blue mage that does that. let the boss be just as random as a blue mage. there is so much creativity but it feels like this is a job that is going to be in the further depths of their mind. Maybe wth enough direct complaints it might work. so hopefully.
I don’t really play BLU much, but I’m still peeved about them barely doing anything with it. It makes me super upset that another Limited Job is coming. I really wish they would just… give BLU an altered job stone and design a main rotation for them so they can ALSO be used in level cap content. At this point it’s being wasted away by the lack of developer care. The fact that another is coming is worrying. Are we going to get a BLU / new LJ update every TWO expansions because it’s “too much work” to do both? It’s like it’s a joke at this point. Take the damn time, give it a Red Jobstone pick and choose it’s spells and give it the option to be a real job on top of it’s fun 8 man BLU only content already.
Agreed 100%. Honestly, I was kind of depressed when they kept showing "new BLU content" in the Keynote slides, and even moreso when I saw "new limited job" in the most recent one. I really do enjoy playing BLU for the content it does have, and I want to believe that another limited job + 7.0 will breathe new life into it and show they do care about limited job content as a concept, but it's just been constant disappointment regarding my favorite job in the series. No mounts for 2 updates in a row, exclusion from most content and very few fun rewards for what they do have, less and less spells each update with most of them being reskins and others feeling kinda jank, and 1 new Carnivale stage at best. I want to believe that BLU just suffered in the same way that a lot of other types of content did in the 6.x era and that it'll get better, but it's hard for me to stay hopeful. I just don't understand why they insisted that BLU needed to be it's own brand of content despite the changes they made to other established jobs rather than finding an interesting way to make it fit in, and then seemed to care less and less about that content. It feels like even more of a low blow with the job story focusing on Martyn wanting to establish a proper guild and make blue magic a respected school only for us to stay 'limited' and having Martyn use 'real' magic to fight.
BLU being its own content is fine - the extra minigame means that it's not treated as "just another magic DPS" and it actually gets to keep a somewhat unique identity among the cast. It's also another avenue to keeping older content alive for new and old players alike. BLU being locked out of content that it is leveled and gear for isn't fine. As long as a BLU has the level and ilvl for a duty it should be able to enter it as a premade party. If you're entering content ON PURPOSE with a premade party and somehow don't have the spells to complete it? That's on the player, not the designers. The whole point of BLU is to allow you to do content with a wacky comp that has purposefully unbalanced, strange spells.
@@ArceusShaymin Yeah, while I'm personally upset that BLU is "Limited" and I can't use it in stuff like my raid group, I do still enjoy hunting for spells, running all BLU fights, and especially the Carnivale puzzles. But I just feel like even those bits of content are getting sidelined hard. Like, we only got a single Carnivale stage last update, and it probably has one of the easiest special achievement requirements It just feels half-baked
Blue Mage is my favorite job of all time. I mained BLU in FFXI for years. All i want them to do is make a DPS/Healer/Tank "template". As in you go out and learn these spells like normal, only if you have all spells from a Template equipped you can que into normal content as BLU. This way they have a way to manage how OP BLU is compared to other jobs by only allowing certain spells into content, while also having the first job that can have multiple playstyles. Its a pipe dream i know, but man i just miss how fun playing BLU was back in FFXI
whats even worse is when people try and justify some of these awful decisions by just saying "then don't play the job". what an infantile and stupid take to have.
we all know how much SE hates to make new content anyway not even change old content... no they repeat all the stuff since years over and over with the same formula... so no wonder everything falls flat
"Most successfull MMO on the planet" -> have a ridiculous budget for the game, so that the "best" update they can give us is some spells, ONE carnival, ONE armor and a weapon. Embarassing.
Yep. It did require saving burst and stuff for the bits, and things like DNC Technical Step do a lot of work, but still. th-cam.com/video/gIOrBCSVoqU/w-d-xo.html
For those who want the actual reason on why the BLU umbrella was put into criterion savage, the umbrella model was a contest winner from a bit ago (same with the 650 tome weapons) so I assume they just shoved all the contest winners there with just new effects.
Personally I haven't forgiven them for making it a limited job, or keeping it limited for this long. I understand in order the keep some of the traditional gimmicks they felt it couldn't be done like a regular job but that simply isn't true. BLU worked just fine in FF11 with the same MMO environment. Sure it was a bit OP here and there but so was RDM, NIN etc and they made those work in 14 as well. At this point I think they need to give the class 2 modes you can swap between. Mode 1 being the way it is now with a customizable spellbook and plenty of options to approach things in as wacky a way as you desire but limited in how you can participate in content. Mode 2 being a defined set of spells each rebalanced to match traditional classes thus allowing it to function as a normal class with the same BLU flavor just not as a full hybrid and instead having access to normal content queues. This is the reality of what needs to happen. The limited design was a bad call not just because it made many people unhappy but because its impossible to regularly add content for only one class. It just doesn't make sense for a development team to put high amounts of effort into new content which only one class is going to have access to, so they will continue to drop the ball in that regard, it just isn't a sustainable design. I'm very sad to see that instead of recognising the flawed nature of limited jobs they've announced a new one. It's truly insane how many people love the blue mage concept but barely touch it because its seen more as meme content, which it essentially is. It's such a shame that for most players BLU is just a simple one and done deal.
One of the things I criticize the game as a whole is that the decs need to absolutely dp what they did when they reworked PvP jobs and just throw caution to the wind. Make all jobs fun and unique and the content their connected to and stop worrying about the five turbo casuals who can't figure out their 123 rotation or the turbo hardcores screeching about their job being 1% lower in terms of damage compared to other jobs. Give Blue Mage all the content you can make for it, give it rewards that Blue Mages would go nuts for! Add spells that'll entice to run content over and over again to unlock them. Shake up Masked Carnival and do a few new things with it. I know its a pipe dream, considering how rigid the devs can be, but still... 😂
I'm not too much concerned about rewards, I wouldn't mind them and I suppose most ppl would want something, what I'm bothered more is gameplay. Gameplay is king, rewards are once and done we get an update every 2 years now that we are 10 levels below cap as such the enjoyment should be able to last more than simply filling a list as such, while I don't entirely agree on your take about the spells we got, I feel we are both a bit too stingy on the crazy side and on the healer/tank side. While I have fun playing alone and just playing the class while doing solo stuff I would like seeing some more meme stuff to be added heck where's toad chorus or mini song? Reraise even? Although you can argue it was a white magic, Quina had it.
I’m super on your side with the lackluster 80 update, but don’t take it out on the criterion effect. That probably took next to no effort, just a tinted reskin of one of the other items.
I wonder if the lack of content stems from a lack of interest amongst the general playerbase. BLU isn't exactly a casual side activity compared to the other side content in the game.
I would like to point out that Blue Mage is inherently going to have some issues because it's core identity throughout the entire series is always about having to hunt for your move set so there's always a larger barrier of entry to this job than any other. That's why this job is more than likely always going to be a limited job because unless they force you to get every spell available at your current level you vould in theory queue for content with only Water Canon. Hell, you can in theory do that with BLU parties right now. That said, it is a shame that they seem to being trying to forget about this job. I'm not even a huge fan of this job (i do have it maxed and learned every spell) but I'm still pissed we cant take it into Seat of Sacrifice. I was wanting the fucking Tank LB3 check as a BLU spell. I love the idea of limited jobs in this game because it allows them to use the whacky or unorthodox jobs that inherent identities are antithetical to the design of an MMO where every job needs to (in theory) be balanced and perform similarly to each other in every content. If one class requires way more set up and investment than any other (i.e. BLU and hunting for skills) you have to make it way more powerful to make it worth it. Then you end up having it being the only job try hards wanna use because it's so powerful and then you've created an unhealthy meta and high end raiding environment. Also to every FF11 crackhead saying they should rework the job to make it like 11 so it can be a nirmal job, shut the fuck up. This isnt 11 and if you rework the job to be normal its not going to be BLU but some ither caster class wearing the bloody skin of the BLU class
FFXI has so much more depth in job design it craps on FFXIV for weeks on end. FFXI was and still is ahead of its time. All players are really asking is stop limiting Blue Mage from participating in dead content and don't lock BLU gear in content BLU can't even access. If it was up to me I'd let BLU do MSQ up to its current level cap. And they really shouldn't be limiting BLU status effects on Fates. BLU is meant to break game mechanics and use enemy skills against the enemy like Megaman. Yoshi P is such a clown and needs to play every game with Blue Mage to see how it works.
@@MagiusNecros The point I'm trying to make is that Final Fantasy 11 was a completely different game where they did not give a shit about game balance. That's the entire reason why Blue Mage is limited in this game. I do agree that they need to give more stuff for Blue Mage because it only being able to run older content that hardly anybody runs anymore is a problem and yes them locking bluemage gear to content it can't even run is incredibly stupid I will give you that. Also you can't even begin to say that the dev team doesn't know how the job works because this is probably one of the most accurate jobs to how it used to function in the older games. It has a few incredibly powerful/useful skills, a couple niche abilities that have their uses and then 90% garbage filler. That's how this job *always* is. Hell, if anything the most inaccurate part of the job is the fact they have so many skills that are actually useful.
@IosLocarth Blue Mage is limited because Blue Mage in its purest form won't work with XIV's game design philosophy. FFXI is a Final Fantasy game whereas FFXIV is a theme park MMO on similar grounds with World of Warcraft. If the devs know how Blue Mage works they can stop gatekeeping it from content and stop gimping its skills and build their vision of Blue Mage. What they need to do is bring QoL changes to BLU with the DPS/Heal/Tank setups. Especially Tank given how clunk it is. 11 and 14 are different games. One is the old school Everquest MMO while the other is a more streamlined experience. That said they shafted Blue Mage big time. It is a disappointment. Everyone loves Blue Mage in XI and only in XIV is there glaring issues or the stigma that Blue Mage should be excluded from current expansion content. Really just divides players. The comparison between 11/14 I feel is merely players wanting the proper identity the job is supposed to have.
@@MagiusNecros okay you are kind of agreeing with the points that I'm making while also are arguing with me at the same time and I'm kind of confused. My overarching point is that the inherent identity for Blue Mage will not work with 14s design philosophy. I do think it's kind of dumb they keep it an expansion behind the current one because there's no real reason you shouldn't be able to take it into current content so long as you have a fully preformed party. I completely agree that they need to do some quality of life for healing and tanking with it because my biggest gripe with the class is that every single skill except for sardine has a cast time so tanking feels like ass because you have to have a cast time on all of your defensive cooldowns. I remember trying to learn mustard bomb and I was tanking that fight and it was awful. I'm well aware that Final Fantasy 11 is completely different than 14 and that is why Blue Mage was able to work in 11. What I'm always saying is that people who are saying Blue Mage can and should work in 14 because it worked in 11 have no idea what they're talking about.
@@MagiusNecros like I agree that they should rework some of the skills to make the job less clunky but it's never going to not be a limited job because of the fact that it has such a high barrier to entry to get it to the point where you can raid with it. Every other job you mostly need to just level, maybe do class quests if it's an older job, and then just gear it. Blue mage has the extra step of needing to go out and hunt for all the skills which will take a long while from scratch. Even then there's so many different sets you can run. At the end of the day the biggest issue is the fact that people can level it and gear it without going and learning all of the skills that you need to play it competently so it'd be very easy to grief with it unless they put in a check that forces you to get every skill at your current level which still forces a lot of extra prep time no other job needs to go through
Sadly the games downwards spiral started in Stormblood, and it's going to get worse. Looks like the team that was removed from making the game in middle of Stormblood, had all the innovation this game ever had.
One of my big hopeful outcomes for the Blue mage at this point is we are going to the new world. The new world is where Blue magic is originally from. What better way to introduce Blue mage as no longer a limited job and just a regular job to do things than this. I know it won't happen, I know this is probably the last thing that will happen. But I see this fixing everything wrong with Blue mage at the moment to be able to do content with literally everyone else and maybe even have our own roulette.
I think that approach will require to design BLU into a two-in-one job: the limited-job BLU that we currently has along with its regular content per expansion, and a normal all-content DPS caster BLU job with fixed skill sets and don't require learning skills, or the skill you learns are only for VFX glam, similar to SUM/SCH pet glams. Yeah, BLU would feel much more boring that way, but I think it is the only way for BLU to officially become a normal job without breaking anything with other normal jobs, while still retaining its own unique BLU-exclusive contents
I don't think that blue mage will ever enter as a regular job but i think it should heavily get promoted and qol changes, they can show off blue mages in Dawntreader as these super cool and powerful people in the story to make people interested in trying them out. I also think there should be a limited job roulette/PF catergory/Chat just so it feels like a community.
Blue Mages waited 2 years for 20 spells, 1 new Masked Carnivale fight. That's about it really. And you can get all these spells pretty easily IMO. Better off playing FFXI for a true Blue Mage experience. Pretty hilarious they locked a Blue Mage weapon behind lvl 90 content BLU can't access and the weapon doesn't even have any stats tied to it. Rather similar to locking Eureka gear that used to be BiS for BLU behind content BLU can't enter. Pretty clear the devs aren't thinking at all. Only new spells I like is Goblin Punch and Mortal Flame. Blue Mage treatment in FFXIV is such a joke. Such a shame since BLU is the only fun job to play.
Sometimes it's good to just cut your losses and move on. Square enix will find a new way of disappointing every time, without fail. Quit and spare yourself the pain.
Nothing new with this game, SE/CBU3 only know how to take a half-step forward then stay there and pray players forget about it so they can continue "bloating" the game with stuff they themselves dunno how to expand on(or they do but refuse to). Just the classic case of Look Over Here, Forget About That Old Stuff. Examples: Squadrons, Egi-Glamours, Lord of Vermillion, Chocobo Racing, soon to be Island Sanctuary, Ishgard Restoration, and the list goes on as they continue to pile more stuff onto the game. Now that DT will most likely be the Final Update BLU gets before they'd be forced to actually do something with BLU aka make it a proper job in 8.0 assuming they're done with the Level Cap raising(I'm praying so, should have stopped at 99 imo). Now they'll have an excuse to push it off to the side outside of a level 90 level cap raise in DT, and start the new LJ at level cap 50 and slowly build that up to 90 for the next 8years. It's so obvious this is exactly what they're doing as they've done this time and time again before with the idea of what an expansion even means in XIV. It's only to expand to the New Areas, and Story. The rest is forgotten about. We wouldn't even have this "Content Draught" if they actually Expanded on the content people enjoy doing. It's okay to leave behind stuff people dislike or were iffy on, but it's not okay to just leave behind content people actually enjoyed. Sad, but this is the model CBU3 set their sights on long long ago with Everything.
Just make BLU have the ability to become an actual DPS job. I've been saying this for years: Make a set of balanced abilities inspired from the current BLU spellbook that players can vote on, which unlock and we can switch between, after hitting the max BLU level for the current expansion (usually 10 levels under the current job cap for balance). You talk to an NPC to freely switch between the new balanced, and old set of abilities. To use the old abilities, you sync to 10 levels under the current cap for real jobs, and you sync up to current max level if BLU is switched to the "real job" mode and can only use the new balanced abilities, which also scale down properly for synced content (you get less skills depending on sync level). This way, the unique experience of BLU and leveling it remains the same, but you get a bonus perk when you reach 10 levels under the current cap, unlocking the ability to use BLU as a real job in any content (PvE & PvP) with a separate set of fixed/balanced abilities. The community has been asking for more longevity and usability with BLU for years now. This would solve a lot of the problems.
I've always said... You have Black and Red Mage for DPs, White Mage for Healer, they should have made blue Mage a Magic Tank where you learn enmity spells from enemies, just rework the spells to focus on defense, instead of giving them a can do all, give them a regeneration spell from fighting an enemy that can do it, a enmity spell from leveling etc etc etc It would be cool to have a tank that is a mage, it certainly would break down the misconception that magic makes someone into a glass canon.
New limited job feels like a good idea to me - if the dev team feels like they're done developing really new content for blue mage it's probably better they do something totally new with another job than remain in a paralysed spot with adding little bits of the same for blue mage once an expansion. That being said, if we're in a world where blue mage does go into maintenance mode permanently, it might be nice to receive a capstone piece of level 90 content like a second blue mage mount for doing the savage raids from stormblood to endwalker and/or the blue battle royal idea that yoshi p mentioned as something the dev team was considering. Maybe even officially stop raising the level cap for blue mage at 90 - for newer players looking to pick blue mage up raising the level cap and total spells makes it harder to jump in, for very little gain if the content a level cap raise brings for experiences blue players isn't exciting. If they did stop level increases, it doesn't prevent the option of adding more carnival stages, access to stuff like deep dungeons or field instances, or even ultimates if they went back and added them - which would be more exciting than just 10 new levels of very little.
Yet there is still a lot of dumb ppl defending devs of this game like its a religion. I love this game but lately devs have been taking some really dumb decisions and obvliously someone is gonna be vocal about something they dislike or think its wrong!
imo BLU should be a Tank.. think about it: you learn spells by getting hit by them.. what job in the trinity gets hit? Tank, easy. Also Tank lb2 was a BLU Spell before that name was used for the Tank Stance of BLU. But wait, there is more BLU not only has a Tank Stance but also an invul and it would be so fitting if the BLU's Job Icon in the Party would be blue, Redmages Job Icon is Red so it would work that way.. I mean what comes next, Green Mage with a Red Job Icon..? please.. But in all honesty SE should retire the "Limited Job" Concept entirely since it doesn't really work anyway... Or if they keep the Limited Job Idea, it better be a Job that really fits the Limitedness of a Limited Job.. In other words: The Mime.
See I actually really enjoyed this bluemage update because it gave enough buttons that it no longer felt like I do a 15 second butst and then spam the same exact button until cooldowns came up. Now enough things align together that it feels like im actually hitting buttons and doing something instead of Sonic Boom soam
So the umbrella being criterion locked makes some kind of sense. It was a contest entry, and they wanted to keep all the entries even. Is it the best solution? No was it a good idea? No. Does it keep everything being functionally equal, while clearly beating a last minute rush job? Yes. I'm not saying you're wrong just that it's not unreasonable
Ultimate titles could have been Ultimate Blue, Perfect Blue etc instead of getting the other Legend titles
don’t we already have perfect blue
@@plastikcaik2585 we do
I would absolutely love to do Eureka/Bozja or new game + as a blue mage! It would be dope.
I think the saddest BLU News we’ve had is that when they were discussing new PvP Ideas, a BLU Mage Fortnite-Style Battle Royale was proposed.. ..only to be replaced with Crystaline Conflict.
I'm really sorry my brothers in blue. It's not something I've gotten into beyond my weeklies but you deserve better.
That being said, the problem with the icon role thing with duties is they fact mimicry can be toggled at will.
All they'd have to do is say something along the lines of: "Hey, you have to learn spells strictly from Eureka (maybe have separate PVE and Eurekan Spellbooks?), no you can't use Logos Actions, but your spells have Logos-like effects built into them."
This would sort of return some of BLU more wild and roaming nature back, hone in on it's overworld specialisation.
But it will probably be as phoned-in as the Eden update was - lingering issues with the class not addressed, new spells are either cool but unusable (shiltron, force field, etc) or just simply potency bumps to replace other spells (like how glass dance was essentially knocked out to make room for sea shanty/being mortal.)
But yeah, I'm with you - I'm expecting a Toy Story moment. They put so little effort into BLU with the Eden update, I can't envision them putting actual effort into two different LJ's.
My hope is renewed by knowing that at some point soon we're almost certainly going to the place Blue Mages came from. Perfect time for Blue content
I never thought about the new criterion weapon in that way, but you're right
Even if you're the best BLU in the world, if you can't transfer those skills to another job you can't (and may never be able to) get their shiny new weapon.
Bizarre
just the thought of progging TEA with 8 blue mages makes me sad that we can't do it
I wish. Best content in the game is Blue Mage and Ultimates. Combine them? Hoo boy.
@@DraconicCatgirl Still cool that they called out the community and their treatment of BLU in the 70-80 quests. Looking at you Ishgard.
The raid dog in cash shop, and now the umbrella locked behind non-blue content.. yeah, what the hell
I just want a dang Limit Break for Blue! It annoys me seeing a full gauge go to waste because they won’t give Blue one! 😢
Ultima for blu lb3 would be great
I vote just tie certain spells to it, looking at you, Final Sting and friends
It would be so cool to have a bluemage lb and it's function changes depending on your aether mimicry role
Its just "hey, heres a weapon you can show off on your blue mage for doing other unrelated content."
While I love the job, everything thats been added recently is arbitrary.
Not even Eureka/Bozja, you can’t even do Seat of Sacrifice (which is one of the best trials imo) and memoria mesria 💀
The fact that the upgrade for the blue weapon is locked behind level 90 content is stupid annoying.
Also, the Shadowkeeper mount is RIGHT THERE but they made it a cash shop item.
not just level 90 content, more or less ultimate difficulty level 90 content that is extremely punishing (1 mistake = lose up to 20 minutes of progress)!
Yeah if it is beast master it won't be a pet class, ff14 Devs have shown they both dont want to and are unable to make a good pet system.
Don't necessarily need unique rewards for everything (some would be nice) just the ability to do it
I was frankly concerned that this was an indicator we'd be just getting token updates from now on just to be able to say its still content being supported.
I'm baffled that there is no mount. And the new weapon should have been made for actual blu content as well.
The mount is on Mogstation, another slap to the face. Shadow Wolf would've been an AMAZING reward, since the last one was Morbol back from Coils/Alex.
Oh my god LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK with the legacy code shit. This fanbase constantly amazes me with their corporate apologia.
My day job is as a Site Reliability Engineer. It's literally my job to work with infrastructure and keep it running, sometimes that's some old shitty code. I suck it up and deal with it and fix it. I don't just work on making my desk look clean and say "ah sorry, old code, can't do anything about it."
I could rant about this stuff for literally days. The UI jank and how unresponsive most of the systems are is just so inexcusable.
@@BlueAcademy I'm a network administrator for a software company but certainly close enough to know exactly what you mean!
Hell I’m still mad the shadowkeeper mount was tied to mogstation instead of 70 + 80 raids BLU achievement
Square so dedicated to healers and tanks being boring they decided to make sure they are in blu too
I really wanted us to get an Azure Rathalos Mount when we got the Level 70 update :(
Idk man, I would be happy if we just got cool spells, unique titles and palette swapped mounts
What? I understand that Rathalos is in the game, but they are not going to release a recolor mount that Square Enix doesn't own and have it as achievement mount for content that's unrelated to the crossover.
As someone that liked not having to do Criterion Savage and does enjoy BLU stuff, this sucks.
Either require groups to be no/all BLU, or "any group with BLU in it is on BLU achievements and leaderboards." Same with ultimates (start with BLUWU, see how it works out, and then add others down the line if it's functional and people are engaging with it - like you said, just have separate achievements.)
Why don't BLU have relics?
It would still suck, knowing we just got a reskinned morbol instead of a brand new mount... but at least it'd be *something!*
I don't have any hype for the new LJ.
As a blu raider only I couldn't agree more
And people still want another limited job so it can languish just like Blue Mage
This video hit hard ngl, put into words a lot of disjointed thoughts I've had for while
I'd like for titan's atv to be a reward for clearing E4 E8 and E12 savages
yeah it was an odd addition, i think there isnt really a need for crit savage.
BLU tanking has bigger problems, being single target provoke. Tanks don't really need more mit tbh and "meme" spells were always a part of the kit.
Island Sanctuary pisses me off to no fucking end. Absolutely infuriating that they’re doing another in 7.0, it’s a pitiful excuse for content.
the fact that they are releasing another blu update before 7.0 and another limited job after 7.0 would mean they want more people to invest into this side of the game
maybe if they made the game more accessible to limited jobs (field ops, deep dungeons ect) and gave them suitable rewards for doing so more people would invest into this side of the game (and perhaps stay subbed during content droughts because there is more to do)
I have never upvoted an XIV video so fast.
I haven't been invested in BLU truth be told, it's hard to find anyone who wants to do BLU content with, I honestly mean that, I've been told by a group who do BLU stuff "oh you can join us, we can do content with you" yet never do they might as well call themselves a static.
I want to like BLU but so much stuff put me off it, which is a shame, considering that I have great interest in it.
are you effing kidding me???? WTFHH
4:57 wait, that was a thing? Is it still a thing? I haven't tried much of the ShB EXs as BLU outside of anything I might need a spell from.
Im super casual and BLU has had some great content for me...but now if i dont want to raid it feels like why bother, especially the new glam
This is hardcore copium, but I hope a second limited job means they'll be putting more focus onto them now
I feel like BLU is a sympton of SQE's much larger issue of just failing to keep legacy content alive.
I would honestly love to collaborate with some of the more active JP BLU players but I don't even know where to start with that!
4:47 YES MY BROTHER
Like, we only got a single Carnivale stage last update, and it probably has one of the easiest special achievement requirements
It just feels half-baked
True true true! (blu)
we all know how much SE hates to make new content anyway not even change old content... no they repeat all the stuff since years over and over with the same formula... so no wonder everything falls flat
"Most successfull MMO on the planet" -> have a ridiculous budget for the game, so that the "best" update they can give us is some spells, ONE carnival, ONE armor and a weapon. Embarassing.
the need to let us into eureka/bozja
You can do UwU without the caster LB? o_o
Yep. It did require saving burst and stuff for the bits, and things like DNC Technical Step do a lot of work, but still.

@@BlueAcademy Wow, this is.. interesting
We Blue Mages are getting left to the wayside. We need to raise up our voices to Yoshi p and announce ourselves loud and proud .
My question why we dont have blue mage in pvp and give him a fix balance class like everyone else . I would love to see a tho wack people as blue
Disable the achievement for potd when going in as Blu I’d love to mess with it there.
I'm generally sick of people complaining about things...but, I mean, it's totally warranted when it comes to Blue. Job has been left to die.
Nothing but truth
Why is it attached to Criterion at all?
Let blue mages do deep dungeons, it would be very funny
The devs are lazy and creatively bankrupt, what do you expect?
I've always said... You have Black and Red Mage for DPs, White Mage for Healer, they should have made blue Mage a Magic Tank where you learn enmity spells from enemies, just rework the spells to focus on defense, instead of giving them a can do all, give them a regeneration spell from fighting an enemy that can do it, a enmity spell from leveling etc etc etc
It would be cool to have a tank that is a mage, it certainly would break down the misconception that magic makes someone into a glass canon.
I only ever see people getting really asshurt if you dare say blu needs improving. So this video is a surprise
I think the core design doesn't need improving. I think it's the update and reward structure that needs improving.
Yeah, don't get me wrong, I still love this game and love BLU. I just wish it felt like they also loved this game and loved BLU.
imo BLU should be a Tank.. think about it: you learn spells by getting hit by them.. what job in the trinity gets hit?
I mean next expansion is literally blue mage homeland. I'd be very surprised if they don't add a lot for that
They didn't for dancer or alchemist in thavnair... not even an acknowledgement you were a pupil of those disciplines
limited jobs are the worst thing they could have ever thought of
Hard disagree. I think it basically introduces an entirely different sub-game within FFXIV and makes it more interesting, but to each their own.
