Very interesting video of Yundi Li, even though I do not understand what he says. Too bad there is no translation of his words as Yundi is a pianist I really appreciate ! Thank you so much for sharing.

On the show, he gave a touching talk on Chopin-the unique patriotic pianist in personal mind. After eight years an ironic fact is that he decides to give up all his career in mainland China due to a very unpleasant heart-broken plot by his loving-betraying country in Beijing at age 39. Coincidently Chopin left the world at the same age requiring people to bury his heart in Warsaw's homeland after living a wandering life for so much time that is the way Yundi is just going to start.

@@China-Voice Well, I even don't agree with Yundi's explanation on the Part I of the Concerto No. 1 when he was demonstrating. This concerto was published before Chopin left Poland. Disregarding this time line and retrospecting Chopin's later patriotic emotion to this concerto is a wide spread cliche, even Yundi and some other pianist also made the same comment. How can you imagine such a young man in his prime time of rising career, and with increasing acceptance, will express nostalgia in the Concerto? So this cliche is wrong.

@@weiguo528 He didn't say the publish thing or demonstrate anything on TV. Use Grammarly. The famous piano concerto No.1 spontaneously finished after the No.2, was performed himself in Warsaw's debut on 1830.10.11, which was about a month before he arrived in Paris, all music records agree on this. That is to say, the concerto probably worked out in summer 1830 was all dedicated to his country as he must get the falling news months earlier. Use Grammarly!

Bibi Landin Basically, Yundi expressed his appreciation for Chopin's patriotism. Yundi feels homesick too when he plays abroad. When he is homesick, he would play a Chinese piece at the end of his performance. He encouraged young musicians to enjoy music as part of their life.

    • @peterrenren
