Hey JT, I love your new look, your curly hair looks very nice!!! I also enjoyed your "Stank-Face" look when you began to listen to just how "FUNKY" Tower of Power is!!! I know you loved that guitar, the bass, the horn section (best in the business), the organ, the drums & the vocals!!! This band is "super tight!!!
Tower Of Power-YES! Love to see people discovering TOP. An amazing band that I had the pleasure of seeing live. Many songs to discover by them, enjoy the funk and horns and general awesomeness.
Tower of Power from my hometown! Love their album "East Bay Grease." Please also do their songs "You're Still A Young Man" and "Sparkling In The Sand."
Thx! This song moves mountains! I loved your reaction! T.O.P. has changed some of their original members. Notably Lenny Williams who sang here! He was amazing! They can make you cry too! You groove!
Here are some more Tower of Power hits you might want to react to: "In The Slot," "So Very Hard To Go," "You're Still A Young Man," "Don't Change Horses (in the middle of a stream)", "Still Diggin' On James Brown" (A Tribute to The Godfather of Soul), "Soul With A Capital "S," "Soul Vaccination," "We Came To Play," "Squib Cakes" and "Down To The Nightclub."
Oaklands own Tower of Power. Not enough youtube reactions to TOP. Check out You're Still a Young Man, Only So Much Oil, Squib Cakes, So Very Hard to Go.
My favorite genres of music are Classic Rock and Classic R&B, from the 70's in particular. I highly recommend checking out the O'Jays. "For The Love Of Money" & "Back Stabbers" Peace Out 😊✌
Check out a live video, something within the last 30 years. I've seen them live several times. A T.O.P. show is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
Every day I am astonished how little black people know about their musical heritage. Is it a general dumbing down of all children, or a concerted effort to erase black people. I pray it is not the latter. I believe it may be the former. Why am I, the whitest person you may ever know, reminding of us this. Hmmmm....
I thought the Sly - PGE - Chicago - BloodSweatTears were heralding a great new horizon for bands to consider. Instead, when music got THIS complex (ie, the demand for talented musicians!), dance clubs found computerization and live-venues replaced this Real Dance Music. We still have techno crap spewing out instead of ToP types.
She did not say it but she is thinking it. "WHAT THE Fu JUST HAPPENED"? A bunch of white boy's and a couple black dude's brought the house down. A good time to bring up my experience doing sound at the Kool Jazz festival in Oakland. We filled the Oakland Coliseum. Around 75 thousand seats. We had all the greats. BB, Aretha, Michael Jackson and on and on. The last act was Tower of Power. They were born, nurtured and bread in the Oakland hood. When they came on stage the crowd went crazy. This was our peeps! I was working the sound on stage when thousands of people decided to join us up there. I asked on my headphones what I should do and was told to beat them with the heavy mic stands. Of course I didn't do that. No one was there to do harm. They just wanted to dance on stage. So uplifting. A highlight of my life.
It shouldn't be up to a white guy to memorialize black music. Or should it? Does it matter? Is this an indicator and proof that music transcends all bounds?
Great reaction...this one got me moving too
I'm 70 years old now darling. I've been there and done that. I so appreciate your take on the "New" classical music. Keep it up.
Wow sis thank you for your Reaction to one of my favorite Groups of all time ⏲️ one of most dangerous Horn sections

Good song. Put it on a mix tape when I was a kid.
3rd Album entitled Tower of Power. Lenny Williams the best lead singer the group has ever had 😊

Can you kindly do a reaction to Billie Myers - Kiss the Rain (Live at TOTP) 1998
