    There are existing interstate highways that are not motorable, not even used to capacity. I don't think a new road is what is needed.
    This is another form of Nigerian being indebted to these people via Tolling.
    The coastal highway is good, but i dont think the time is right.

      People with no motorable federal roads to their various state and villages and no electricity will come online in support of coastal road as if it will add any value to them.
      There are more important basic needs that will benefit Nigerians than the coastal road.
      Travel along federals through the states and see how the roads are bad.

    Lagos-Ibadan rehabilitation took how many years, East-West road how many years. If this Lagos-Calabar road is finished in 12yrs, it will be a miracle.

    When lagos ibadan express road was been constructed Nobody can predicted the kind of development and businesses we are seeing, so you can't predict the outcome of the coastal road, you can only imagine it.

    The question I would have loved to ask the honourable minister is why not starting this road project from the empty landscape and forest where demolition of properties aren't required so that there can enough time for those having properties around the city would be prepared to evacuate their belongings?

    Talking about the completion of this project you said it'll be completed under the two terms administration of Mr. President, sir, this is not a date when this project will be completed let the contractor tell the public the duration of his contract and expected date of termination. 27:14
    A 700km of road can't be constructed in 8yrs rather a year or two maximum.

    At this time, this is not a win win situation for the government, the citizens and the publicity to the world. The Coastal Highway is a good development by itself. The coastal highway if not properly build and maitained will be washed out to the sea by the power of Nature. Most coastal Highway in the world are not that too close to the ocean in most cases.

    The first phase of the project is to open up Lekki free trade zone... Note that this zone house money generating industries like Dangote refinery,Dangote petrochemicals e.t.c. Don't be deceived. this project will be completed in record time..
    For, reference.. go and check the speed at which Lagos/epe expressway i.e. from Epe to Abraham Adesanya is been worked on in order to provide a temporary access to the free trade zone... Meanwhile,the real access to support the industries in that axis from the east,south-south ,north and west is the Lagos- Calabar coastal road.

      @Ws2237 No, the States in the Niger Delta area contribute 80 percent of the Nigerian revenue from oil. One does not see these massive developments going on in oil wealthy areas of Nigeria.

      @@ted.n9609 You are not correct. If you say 80% of exports, you are right. 80% of revenue is wrong. It is about 50% of revenue. The internally generated revenues of the states, VAT, revenue from the seaports, company taxes, personal income taxes and other streams of revenue are actually more than 50% of government revenue.

We need beaches not just all concrete roads. This should have been taken through the back.
