that a great idea. FT8 can make some heat ! that sticky pad is for thermal transfer . not as messy as that wight thermal paste . lot of hot 6100 's being used .
Hello! IMHO, the main problem is that the Chinese don’t use thermal paste inside transceivers at all :) I have a g90, x6100, and also an ic705 (I suspect the Japanese didn’t make it) - there’s no thermal paste anywhere and the thermal sensors are “hanging” in the air. The cooler is nice It’s a pity that the heat will be removed indirectly from the battery...
I agree - I'm not sure how they would build it with the internal battery in a different/better spot though - Have you seen my tear down video? There is a huge heatsink right in the middle of the sandwich... which is about all they could do and yet still odd.
@@temporarilyoffline No, I haven’t seen a video about disassembly, I’ll watch it. I myself always conduct an audit of “fun” Chinese devices :) I rarely make connections, usually only after purchasing a new device, I don’t work digitally - I’m bored. Telegraph, SSB. In principle, I don’t need a cooler no thermal paste, but I treat all technology with respect.
Need a heat transfer pad that is not adhesive or permanent in nature. I bet some heat sink grease would work if you didn't want it to be permanently mounted. Just have to carry a rag or it would be everywhere.
Here you go, try this one: geni.us/oAFf8I He's named it "Xiegu X6100 HF amateur radio case cooling fan, bracket and power adapter. Great for high duty, FT8, CW, POTA."
I stuck a 2pack of 80mm x40mm heatsinks on the back of my x6100 and I sit it on top of dual 40mm usb fan. Stays nice and cool for about $20 total.
I've done that too!
TY for nit forgetting about the X6100!! I just got one on a great deal!
You bet!
Very cool. I got several of those bags. I have one on the 6100, my digirig and cables, and one on the Grabil antenna tripod. Those are great bags
I want a good bag for the gabil tripod and slider antenna... still on my list to find.
@@temporarilyoffline I am using that same bag for the tripod, radials and the additional connectors (SO239, Camera, and 3/8 24)

You got it!
Great vid. Many thanks. Upstate NY
You bet!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Nifty piece of kit. Isn't there new thermal pads that can be reused easily? I seen them advertised somewhere recently but my OM memory fails me. Lol.
Mine too. What were we talking about?
That's Cool tnx Man!
I like that T-Connector!

Exactly!
The info link did not get me anywhere... What is the name of the fan model?
Here you go, try this one: geni.us/oAFf8I
He's named it "Xiegu X6100 HF amateur radio case cooling fan, bracket and power adapter. Great for high duty, FT8, CW, POTA."
If running off the internal battery how is the fan powered?
Its not - you'd need to bring power.
Bonjour,
Cela existe pour l'Icom IC 705 ?
Merci

Not that I've seen.
Does the 6200 get warm when doing FT8?
Sure does!
@@temporarilyoffline Totally didn't see your earlier reply on an earlier video, appologies. Thanks for getting back to me!
@@SldgeHammr No worries, thanks for watching!
Purchased
Awesome. Let me know how it goes!
😅What's good for G90, should be ok for the 6100
Should be!
Tempting. This is such an expensive channel to watch.
And fun too... don't forget fun... right?
Second
Right!
Does anyone know the seller username in etsy? I want to send him an email, but the item is gone.
Try this link: geni.us/4fjKcBm
@temporarilyoffline I guess he moved to eBay. Thank you!
Ubet!
