- In the vein of the Traxxas Sport Tuning Series, we being Setting Up Camp with the "new" Axial Basecamp, which is cheaper than the old BaseCamp, and I feel like there are... reasons.

I love this series
I like a softer insert on the rear, makes for lots of drive.
Hmmm.. That might be just a bit too much information. 😆
many interesting choices... but had to be a winner. and the patina. mmm. unboxing the testing of tires on a rig
Evening!
Hey Doc, another great test session, and it brings up a question for the livestream. I'll ask it here, where I'm not fighting against a flow of comments and limited word count.
With these testivals, the rigs always pick a tyre, and it's not necessarily the tyre you would think, so, how much of an affect does the rig have on a tyre? Obviously there are suspension setups, weight distribution and ultimately the rig is in control of where the tyre goes. But the tyre is the primary contact with the ground and provides all the grip and forward drive, so surely the best tyre will always be the best tyre, no matter which rig it goes on? What is it about the trucks that makes one tyre shine over another?
Got 3 days to mull over that particular mind boggler! 😉
I don't think there's a "perfect tire," for if there was there'd be Tusks on everything. The Rock Blocks beat the Bossman during their Quickviews, but on the BaseCamp, with it's narrow track and dig, the Bossman was the better choice. Now-- were I paying more intention to my own tests, I would have guessed this before it began. Dig wants non-directional and/or symmetrical lugs, so the Bossman or the Landmine were the most likely choices based on what we've seen in the past. The Landmine kinda had too much "omnigrip" so again, not the favored tire for dig. It was only a few weeks ago that I realized the sort of tire running on dig-equipped rigs, as well as the tires on 4WS rigs-- and that I had been trying to get the "wrong" tires to work for a long while.
Now, if you take dig out of the equation, the number of suitable tires does jump up. Canyon Trails or the Squid-fitted Deep Woods might have won the day.
Wagwan Canyoneros 👊
So a stiffer insert on the rear would help tires like the Deepwoods getting a better dig performance? I run Champs on my class 2 with dig, and I would like to keep them for a bunch of reasons, but in the 10-15mins I used the rig, the dig was a bit dissapointing... What do you think? I could try Fusks, Trenchers and Hyrax (unknown compound, thats what happens when you get them used, and for 30 bucks), but the Champs have a special backstory on why I want to use them on that rig
CT's never fail 🤷
Baja MTZ's looked really promising, maybe try a different insert to get better dig?
The Bossmans looked good too, I think CC softs front and rear could be even better
Landmines were real good, maybe with CC softs front medium rears for better dig? Or softs all the way around like in the Bossmans?
Rock Blocks look like they want softer inserts all the way around too... Apparently every tire wants softer insert in Chungus (or Chungus wants softer inserts in every tire)
I would do another Tire Testival cause they are pretty entertaining, but you probably dont have too much free time to do that🤣 Bossmans worked the best, with the Landmine's wheels
Silver wheels look much better, and you make me wanna buy another set of tires …Again😂… Bossman😍
An excellent dig tire, it would appear. They had the most predictable dig behavior by a fair margin.
The wheels are a good choice
😂 A dig pull on the deep woods, 🎉
After the quick view of the Rock Blocks, that was what I was thinking would win out.
Directional tires just don't like dig (or 4WS)
Howdy👊
That is absolutely the right wheel! Do you recall what type of bead lock ring that is? I ask because I WANT IT

I have to be honest with myself: I am a sucker for aesthetics. Basecamp RTR? Not so much. Big Chungus? All the way in. You’ve done an excellent job with that body 👌👌
so many unboxed tires!
Not even a fair fight. Any tire with squid inserts for the win sir!
But the Squids lost...
What tire Daphne end up with?
Tusks! He posted up a shot of her on her new tires on IG last week 👌👌
@LumpkinMumfins1 I guess it was just a matter of time and after all inevitable...
Well do ya like it one bell pepper 🫑 🤣🤣
Hard to beat a JConcepts tire, even with another JConcepts tire.

I said it an episode (or 2) back… he’s El Jefe, the bossman… of course if you stick with today’s theme, El Jefe Gordo. The big bossman. 😂
Will Chungus stay on no OD/UD ?
I have the axle gears (and some portal gears) here, I just haven't gotten to it yet.
@CrawlerCanyon because he might end up liking a different tire with a bit of OD.
The Ground Hawgs look so nice on him!
Needs a name like Chongo, the big brother in Detroit rock city
His name should be Roadhouse.
For the sucs
