My dad was full Greek. I am half Greek. I used to be embarrassed when he would educate me about his culture. No more. I miss that man every day and would give anything to dance his Greek dance with him. 🇬🇷

I know what you mean, I also am half Greek. My dad was from karpenisi. I never appreciated my heritage until he was gone, and I regret never letting him know how proud I am to be Greek.
to all who felt embarassed: don't feel bad, Greek culture is very rich and you have to be in a sort of mature generosity state and don't give a penny for what other people think, and this is difficult for other cultures. BUT we know that and understand it and I m sure both your fathers @Eileen M @Mary Allred knew you would come to appreciate it someday.

У нас в институте в 70-е годы было греческое отделение, где учились дети полит.эммигрантов. Даже был Греческий городок. В Ташкенте жили, работали, учились. Я тогда научилась танцевать сиртаки, музыка бесподобная - я вообще люблю греческую музыку, к нам в институт даже приезжали ребята выступать, с тех далеких времен обожаю звуки мандолины. Сейчас и половины танца не помню, да и то, что могла станцевать в 20 лет в 70 уже не тянет. Но смотреть этот танец очень и очень люблю.
