Homeschooling my 8yr old. Your videos and family are such an inspiration. Love the videos - keep them coming. Question: Is copy work the only method you used to teach spelling? If not, what else did you do?
How do you recommend homeschooling and teaching a child 13 years old with Autism with apraxia when speaking is difficult and writing is difficult for them? Fine motor is greatly affected, which makes it very difficult for them to produce purposeful speech. Language comprehension and expressive language (which is cognitive) is completely different from speech (which is motor). We currently use a motor-based approach where we work on the accuracy to point at letters. My child has consistently demonstrated through this process that not only do they understand what I am teaching, but they can spell. If one can spell, then one he or she can read at grade level, if not higher. Thank you.
Thanks for answering my question and for the helpful advice :)

Great question. I'll try to get to it in our next video 😊👍
