Lol this was posted just under 2 years before I discovered nightcore my first nightcores were My demons by either NightcoreReality or Kurumi a 50 song mash-up that was reposted like 3 and a half years ago and the last one being a 10 hour video of get out alive by BlackBloodProduction these few fight for first since I can't remember lol
Another interpretation is that the fictional "singer" was hurt so much by the abusive relationship that they've gone numb. The relationship turned more dull as their partner tries to "make it work" by faking a peaceful relationship which the singer recognises as being futile. The singer is so detached, tired and uncaring that he/she misses the strong feelings they had during the worst times of their relationship. They don't miss the relationship nor the partner, just what it feels like to have emotions.
Jenexis Meanwhile, I came up with a more lighthearted fictional story: A hero and a villainess fall in love and get married (don't question it); however, neither one gives up their roles, and this causes a lot of conflict in their home, too, rather than leaving it on the battlefield. Eventually, the hero gets tired of fighting and wants to settle into a more normal/functional dynamic, at least at home. After a while, the villainess notices he gets more and more hesitant during their battles, even though the stakes never changd. Fearing other villains will be able to defeat him if they notice his newfound soft spot, she puts up this front in order to bring back his ferocity and keep him tough. She doesn't really miss his old merciless self, but she misses the security of knowing he would never hesitate to kick someone in the face if he had to.
This reminds me of Junko Enoshima. Just gonna throw that out there. And Yasuke Matsuda, of course, though he never mistreated her. It would seem like something Junko would sing/listen to/do. Like, ask Matsuda to make her miserable. Y'know?
I can't decide whether I like this or the original version better, but you know, that's what happens when you make such a good song. Both are now in my JAMS playlist.
Coming back to these songs after years just hit different. I mainly liked Nightcore because of my creepypasta, MLP, Undertale, FNaF phases and anything else. These songs are just nostalgic now

There is value to exploring these kinds of thoughts and emotions. Maybe if you had the context from more of the band's songs, you'd see that there's a bit more to it than just "edge" :)
