He only became most loving captain after he was dropped and Babar started screwing everything up. I clearly remember everybody trolling him through his entire captaincy tenure because he was a burden on the team as a player. Should have shown some bravery by continuing to open the innings and leading from the front but a very good captain nonetheless.
For a while he was stuck in that purgatory where he would just play as captain. Not because of his performance with the bat or gloves. That's where Shahid Afridi was stuck for a long time. It was the time for Sarfaraz to go. His best days were behind him as a keeper and batter.

Yes, we won champions trophy under sarfraz captaincy and we performed well in T20's and Odi's. But, the reason he was removed because he lost his fitness and form both and was becoming arrogant as well. Sometimes he wouldn't even come to bat as he wasn't a good finisher or hitter and so he would send bowlers first and then would come to bat.
So, if team starts losing under your captaincy and you're not fit anymore plus you can't even bat and you send bowlers before you and you're now arrogant... What's your role in the team. ? Just captaincy?
oh brother , at least he did not come as an opener and become burden for paksitan team.Yeah , he was coming at no.8 or no.9 position , becuase he wants if hassan ali hit 2 sixes and it is better for pakistan then he was ready to sacrifice his batting position.and you know , everyone phases downfall in term of batting at some point , if 2018 - 19 was not ideal for him as a better.Even then pakistan play better cricket in 2018 - 19 than 2023 - 24.pakistan team almost qualify for wc 2019 semifinal ( if paksitan vs srialanka match did not wash out ).if he wants he could easily open as an opener in champions trophy 2017 , but he did not do this.instead of that , he gives chance to fakhar , ahmed shahzad & azhar ali.( although he was opener in 2015 odi world cup ). Babar Azam breaks many records in last one year , but you know , Pakistan won only one t20 series in the last year ( recently vs Ireland ). so , which is good thing for you , Babar Azam runs or Pakistan team win ?

@@Criclinktv First thing, he indeed became burden on team with no batting form and he wouldn't even come to bat so we were missing on 1 batsman. If he needs a bowler to hit 2 sixes when he himself is a batsman and won't come to bat himself.... Then he is burden on team. Better come to bat as an opener atleast that way he would be contributing to pak batting.
Secondly, it's true he gave chances to other players. In fact, most of the players in our current team are where they are today because of him.
And don't forget his replacement was Muhammed Rizwan who is far better than him as a wicket-keeper batsman. In all three formats.
But, just as a captain he indeed was better than babar azam way better actually.
