I'm always admire the actress Jichuuu since her Cameo in THE PRODUCER and Chronicle Arthdals , you can see her potential to be a Great and Box Office Actress...
To start off with, the current controversies about the Korean drama, “Seol-gang-hwa” or “Snowdrop” occurred because it did not take into account the whole context of the story but fragmentedly edited and expanded interpretations of only particular parts of the film, rapidly releasing fake news to the public which caused misunderstandings about the real meaning and intention of the film. 1. It is clearly shown in the film that it is the NSP who called in the spies from North Korea. The leaders of each government (South Korea & North Korea) hold hands for the sake of money and to extend the reigns of the governments- which is why the character of a spy appears in the film. The role of the NSP is to catch the spies but for their own benefit, frames innocent students as the spies while bringing in the “real spies” into South Korea. This manifests that “Snowdrop” does not beautify the NSP but in fact, emphasizes the ironic fault in what they do. 2. “Snowdrop” is not related to China. This film was bought by Disney Plus and the filming started in November 2020, which is before Tencent has invested in JTBC (December 29, 2020). Tencent does not have management rights over the JTBC studio as the type of investment does not hold voting rights. Moreover, the title of the film: “Seol-gang-hwa”, is a Korean word for a flower with letters 雪降花 (눈 설, 내릴 강, 꽃 화). As a matter of fact, the flower is called “Seol-jeok-hwa” or “Seol-hwa-yeon” in China- overall debunking the absurd speculations that the title is a Chinese word. 3. In episodes 1 and 2 of the film, the song “솔아 솔아 푸르른 솔아” could only be heard when the male lead (Soo-ho) passes by the protesters while being chased by the NSP. A different background music is played during the chase scene, and the previously mentioned song in controversy fades away when Soo-ho runs far from the protesters. The fading signifies the fact that the song “솔아 솔아 푸르른 솔아” isn’t used as the background music of the chase scene. The female lead (Young-ro) and her roommates did not have a clue that Soo-ho was a spy due to their encounter with him during the group date where he was introduced as a postgraduate student from Berlin. In fact, the character that was actually part of the protest was Jung-min (one of Young-ro’s roommates), not Soo-ho. Alarmed by the sounds of shooting outside, Young-ro and her roommates were clearly aware of the protests happening which may have influenced their faulty thoughts, mistaking Soo-ho as a student activist. This is the reason why they decide to hide Soo-ho in the dorm attic. This exhibits the indisputable fact that Soo-ho DID NOT interfere or join the protests. The scene where Young-ro mistakes Soo-ho for a student activist is sparking controversies stating that it justifies the cruel actions of the NSP (framing innocent students as spies). However, this is an absurd accusation as the film shows that Soo-ho was ‘directly’ brought by the NSP from North Korea, totally separating him from the student protests happening at that time. In order to justify the actions of the NSP, there must be a scene where Soo-ho disguises as an activist and participates in the protest but such type of scene is nowhere to be found in the first two episodes of the film and moreover, JTBC has previously released a statement saying that there is not a single part in the script where Soo-ho participates in or leads the pro-democracy movement/ protest. 4. The controversy regarding the fact that the film portrayed a scene that the NSP was not able to search the dormitory because of the housemother is false. To show the proper role of a housemother, the lines “You cannot enter without a search warrant.” were used, but right away, the leader of the NSP, Kang-moo, held her at gunpoint and threatened her saying that she is violating the National Security Law. He then ignores the words of the housemother and searches the whole dormitory with his subordinates. A scene of them searching inside the girl’s sauna where the students are bathing is also portrayed afterward. It is appropriate to say that the small dispute between Kang-moo and housemother was shown as a dramatic element in order to highlight the characteristic of the Seung-hee, the housemother- that she highly values principles and cares for the students. If the film really intended to beautify the NSP, they must have lost in the dispute with the housemother and quietly left the dormitory. 5. The several scenes of Kang-moo and Han-na who work for the NSP and the Aemin party meeting shown in the exposition in fact unveil and emphasize the cruel and evil side of the NSP, contrary to the accusations that this film beautifies the NSP. Here are some lines from the film that clearly proves that “Snowdrop” does not beautify the NSP: “Didn’t you hear? He’s a North Korean spy. / Spy? You know the cops frame us and call us spies all the time.” “We give them the money and the North will take care of the rest. We can forge some records showing the North is funding Han I-Seop, and give it to the press. Then our candidate will become the president. Don’t you know that the public is dying to elect a president by themselves?” “The cops always say that protesters turn the public against the government and promote distrust and make every protester look like a spy.” “The NSP could kill all of us to win the election. They could even turn this dormitory into their den full of spies” 6. The accusations that this film disparages the pro-democracy movement are false, as what it deals with is the presidential elections happening in winter, the year 1987. The May 15 pro-democracy movement that took place in 1980 and the June Democratic Struggle in 1987 does not overlap with the setting of the film as stated above. Adding on, it is confirmed that both Soo-ho and Young-ro are not student activists nor participated in any of the protests. As previously mentioned, the motif behind the events of “Snowdrop” is the 1987 presidential election and it “portrays a fictional story about the military regime, the NSP, and others in power at the time colluding with the North Korean dictatorship and planning a conspiracy to retain their power”, as stated in the official announcement of JTBC. 7. Regarding the controversy surrounding the name of the female lead, it was clearly stated in the announcement from JTBC that “it is not related to the real-life pro-democracy activist, however, as it has been pointed out that the name is reminiscent of her, they will change the female protagonist’s name.” The female lead’s name was then changed to “Eun Young-ro”. 8. Neither the NSP nor the spies in the film represent each of the South or North governments, and the evil traits of the NSP are very evident throughout the film. 9. There have been speculations that the love story of the leader of the NSP in the film, Lee Kang-moo, glamorizes the NSP- however the only love-related story that was released about him was that he once dated one of his current subordinates, Han-na before he became part of the NSP. His character is not in a love triangle with Soo-ho and Young-ro, debunking the rumor that he is the second lead of the film. In addition, the accusations stating that “Snowdrop” beautifies the NSP and dictatorship is totally false as seen from the lines of the housemother (stated in number 5), and the torture scene that was led by the NSP in episode 2 of the film, transparently revealing their evil deeds at that time. 10. At the beginning of episode 1, the conversation between Nam Tae-il, Eun Chang-soo, and Code 1 is shown. These are the responses of the Tae-il and Chang-soo to the question of Code 1 asking if the plan is going well: Chang-soo (Head of the NSP): “We’ll make it look like the North abducts Professor Han I-seop, and the opposition party runs for president with the North’s funding.” Tae-il (Secretary-General of the party): If the word is out that they’re running with the spies’ money, the opposition party will lose the election for sure. This is a scene that also reveals the evil deeds of the NSP at that time. . Lastly, we want to say that we truly don’t want to affect in any way those who participated in the pro-democracy movement. And again, we want to firmly state that this film has no intention to glamorize the NSP and spies nor disparage the democracy movement.
I'm so happy for Jisoo, but it's important to realize that supporting Korean entertainment also means you have to respect their history and culture as well. This whole situation is very historical and has made a huge impact on the lives of Korean citizens. Hundreds of thousands of Koreans lost their lives in wars and oppressing events like the Gwanju Massacre. THIS DRAMA IS TWISTING THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF KOREA. YOU DO NOT JOKE ABOUT HISTORY; this drama is neglecting all the Koreans who fought to save Korea and their language. These events happened only 30 years ago, so the Korea people who suffered under Japanese torture have a right to see their stories told in a respectful way. A little info about Snowdrop
Title: Snowdrop
Han: 설강화
Rom: Solkanghwa
Episodes: 16 (70 minutes per)
Genre: Dark Comedy, Melodrama, Political, Historical, Action, Romance
Synopsis: Snowdrop is set against the backdrop of the 1987 Democracy Movement, which was a mass protest movement with the purpose of forcing the then-current authoritarian government in South Korea to hold fair elections. As a result of mass protests, democratic elections were held in December 1987, which would later lead to the end of authoritarian rule in South Korea and the establishment of democratic rule in the Sixth Republic of Korea.
Im Soo-ho (Jung Hae-in) plays a graduate student who is discovered covered in blood by Eun Young-ro (Jisoo), a female university student. BRO THAT'S A LONG SERIES FOR HAVING A 70 MINUTES PER EPISODE
PLEASE, WATCH ANOTHER DRAMA THAT ACCURATELY TEACHES KOREAN HISTORY, LIKE MR SUNSHINE OR MAL-MO-E OR KEEP IN MIND WHILE WATCHING THAT THE HISTORY PORTRAYED IN THE DRAMA IS FALSE. This is not about Jisoo. We're talking about the plot of the drama. This is OUR history, not yours. so please, i beg you, for the love of Korea and everyone embedded in its culture, have awareness
@@elifeanor But this is fiction right?
@@elifeanor I'm gonna report every account that sproud non-sense and brainswash narative just like yours...
keep this in your mind, we're international BLINKS won't gonna being silent about this, we'll track every IP Address nor your online historical trace and mass report it to KCIA and Blue House official...
be sure to get your preparation...
@@L.U.C.A.006 I don't get the issue. What's happening? Can you please explain to me?
