This made me have some respect for Rashad McCants. He was as real and honest as he could ever be. He didn't blame Khloe for what happened to his career...he BLAMED HIMSELF! Bravo, and much respect for that.
When I was in the army guys who got kicked out blamed the 1st Sgt,the CO,etc,etc,..but,never took responsibility for their own bad decisions and mistakes. Then there was the personality who thought they could do whatever they wanted with no consequences. What's really strange more guys than women got kicked out the army ,really-STRANGE.
Rashad has a lot of wisdom to offer when he’s not trying to be too cool. He could help a lot of younger hoopers. He was somebody who was close to on top of world coming out of college, had the fame, a famous girl.
It’s a respect level for the game that demonstrates your love for it. It’s no different than any other relationship. There’s times that you don’t want to talk to your mom/wife/husband/kids/friend but you respect and love them enough to not bring that negative energy to them. A job is no different. A sport is no different. Just because you are doing what you love doesn’t mean you’re always gonna love doing it. Love it enough to respect it enough to “fake it” when you need to get past your own feelings
I think they should have their own Rookie Symposium and invite Rookie's to come listen and ask questions. This was strong. Non-NBA life lessons were in here too. Wow.
Ya'll talking basket ball, but this is life!!!!!!! Thank you Gil for growing into your Truth!! I have always been a Fan, and I have been waiting on your Words to help our brothers.....
The issue is that teams are deathly afraid their young stars will leave if they don't meet all of their desires. That means that 22-year-olds are leading the franchise. You're not listening to any vets when you have the coach, gm, and owner kissing your ass. And GMs don't want vets on the rosters so the young players are forced to play. Lastly, we all know sports isn't a meritocracy but it should feel like it. If a vet is outperforming a player in practice ablnd that player isn't getting it done on the court, it's impossible to explain to the vet why he's still on the bench.
There's more than enough talent out there for 4 more teams in the NBA. Many good vet could/should have a place in the league still. Vegas and Seatle are gonna have a team soon.
I always say what they just said to my co workers. PLAY THE GAME WITHIN THE GAME!” Do what you have to do to get your money. You can secretly be not emotionally invested but damn it act like you are so you get a bag
That body language piece is so true. When you understand where some of these guys are coming from, I empathize with them because they’ve been conditioned their entire lives to be defensive and standoffish. They don’t understand the importance of “kissing ass”, and these owners don’t have unlimited rope to offer them in the hope they figure it out. This is exactly why Boogie is in China unfortunately, and Bones Hyland is on that same path if someone doesn’t get through to him
Ima a Hawks fan and when I say Ive been wanting the Hawks to sign a good vet for years now🤦🏾♂️. I be feeling like Trae a generational talent but he needs to hear from a player or players who’ve been in his situation so he don’t get in his own head
Sessions fell off by going to the Lakers as a bad fit. Same thing that happened with Gabe Vincent. True talent doesn’t always show in the NBA it’s very situational and you gotta seize the moment if it ain’t your time.
Playing the game will get you paid. Ask the owner how his kids are doing, tell him happy birthday. Donate to his charity. Find out what his hobbies are. Make it a point to know your head coach. Do charitable work in the community. Becaeuse most owners and gms ask the coach what players he likes.
McCants baptized himself on this segment and took the holy communion. Hopefully, he stays graduated from many of his past segments. I mean, not that his other segments are bad. Bro is just like an agent of chaos in them, and sometimes in a good funny way.. But in this one, he was like an architect, a builder, a professor etc without any hint of the self-absorbtion that some people hold against him😅. I guess bro knows how to switch it up when necessary👍. Ohh, Norris Cole was a great addition as well.
Ehhhh when you call it fake, you missed the point. It's basically respect for people. "Being real " means you don't know how to talk to people , crass, no boundaries aka a jerk
Best conversation these men have had on this podcast. Real stories and real advice for the younger generation. GREAT ADVICE, every nba young player LISTEN UP
This was a great show. GREAT QUALITY CONTENT. I shared it with my son. I taught him to set goals as a teenager. Now, he is a successful entrepreneur. Setting Goals are important!
Got to give credit where it’s due, Rashad McCants has gotten better with his takes and overall talking. I couldn’t stand him when this podcast first started.
Well it was said for a reason lol. It’s a year deep into this show & this is the first time I’ve seen him being this candid. He should’ve been this candid during the Pat Bev situation
@@slimthugga1 hahaha wait, so you don’t think he was being candid during the Pat Bev episode because you don’t agree with what McCants was saying? This show gives outsiders a look into what goes on behind the scenes on a daily basis which is probably one of the reasons for the show’s success in its first year. You implying McCants wasn’t being candid during that situation as if you have info that neither of two dudes that were actually there did is funny
I feel like all the former players with these outstanding platforms should come together to give Disney and Fox a run for their money. This is real journalism and the best way imo to bring the fan base into the player experience. Salute yall

For so many reasons👀
Yall say that every post - yet most he says is emotional nonsense
Without a doubt it’s the most calm and concise lol
that shows you how important this topic is, it got all these guys to finally agree on something.
Agreed!
This conversation is why ESPN can’t hold a candle to this kind of platform.
They think Kimberly Martin and the other raccoon Malika Andrews can teach us anything about sports. 🚮
And they can’t hold a candle to ESPN so both can still exist
