Why not to cut the long leaves to match the staple length of cotton to be blended with and add the cut leaf portions to an anerobic digester? The fibres get separated due to the action of microbes which produce methane as a byproduct.
Great video. But something to clarify: they're not losing knotters or scrapers because they don't want to work anymore - but rather they don't want to work as knotters or scrapers. There's a very big difference. The editor made the cut before they could complete that sentence.
