A real shame it's forced to use AP. I've had a shell on the Tempest-Vickers overpenetrate through the entire length of a P-47 from rear out the nose just under the engine before. It seems like with that thing, hitting wing spars and slamming a shell straight into the engine of an enemy plane seems like way to play.
Seeing this video inspired me to play it myself and the 40mms are absolutely amazing, with the air spawn you can easily intercept bombers to learn the aim, but hitting a fighter is very satisfying

God, I love this plane. It flies like actual ass and you rip flaps constantly cause you think your turn rate is low enough that it's about time to deploy them. And now that it's at 2.3 and not 2.0 it fights way tougher stuff. But the amount of dopamine that rushes into your brain when you slam shells downrange and see a distant explosion is incomparable and it makes it worth flying. I've only gotten two 7-kill games in ARB and one of them was with this hurri. It's the plane that won the war ;)
You need to try out the 3.0~ Crusader III/Cromwell I at 4.7-7.3. they can pen the turret of a Leopard I or its hull slightly angled, one shot and pen any IFV from any angle with a well placed hull shot, are both small and fast, and are immune to .50cals. The Cromwell meanwhile is immune to some AA guns but lacks spotting. You can redden most barrels with one shot, pen an M48s turret from the side or back with incredible ease and penetrate its neck frontally, and generally terrorise people. It's insane how good they are.
