Oh what a lovely day! I've played dark future from its release in the 80's. I strongly recommend playing it like 40k. Meaning, don't play with single cars (the equivilent of playing regular 40k with one squad). Play with a force OP's verse renegades, use the bikes, hot wheels trucks etc. Also try to "find" *cough* a copy of white line fever as the additional rules make for a better game (or alternatively, find all the 102-150 issues of white dwarf in which rules for dark future appear). Its also a great multiplayer game, two or three forces trying to raid a convoy across the wastes. WITNESS!
Thanks glad you liked it. Yeah this was just a small test game to see how it went but we made a few mistakes. When the lockdown lifts and we can get together again I’m definitely going to play some more and put some more videos of it as it seems quite a popular videos
Spot on. Nice report and good to see this game getting a bit of love. I play this quite regularly myself and it's a cracking game, especially once you start using the Dead Man's Curve campaign rules! One thing I did note though, you determined that one of the shots from the chase car missed as it didn't cross your model, however your model should have been in contact with the front of the space and the range ruler would have crossed the car and been a valid target.

Lead car first drift- Drifting at 100mph requires a hazard roll, think safety limit is 80 for a drift, but it's been a while :-) Found two of my old cars yesterday eve, which prompted me to search youtube for Dark Future. I'm a few years late to your video, but still good to see it 😀
Just been cleaning out the very back of my workshop with the forklift today, found a heap of GW stuff😂 including loads of old miniatures, a complete copy of bloodbowl 2nd edition and dungeon bowl, the star players book and compendium one, An original 40k rogue trader book from 1987 and the white dwarf that announced 40k, and white dwarf 141 with one of my painted miniatures in it 😍😂👍🏻 not throwing that lot away, back to storage somewhere for it all
Happy to see someone playing DF, however FYI, Drifts exceeding 80mph incur a hazard roll, and every bend 90 or 60 is followed by a straight, also even though a vehicle cannot move during a phase which is higher than its speed, it can still fire weapons

Yup when I watched it back I realised we forgot some rules but still had a great time :-) One thing I couldn’t work out is how many Dummy Counters you take? Is it the same amount as real mines? So we had 6 mines each and 6 dummy counters each but that seemed a bit excessive!
@@primeronlygames659 What the manual states is "Grab a handfull of Dummy markers plus markers to represent any real passives that are actually fitted", in theory you could drop as many dummies as you physically have, however It is implied in the tournament rules that you have as many dummies as you have real passives (pattern mines, spikes or oil), which is how you played it, and in my mind is how it should work

80's Carwars Fan House rule: anything that inflicts 10 or more damage should cause debris to land on road, that causes an extra obstacle to drive around. Otherwise, if hit by another vehicle, it would cause some sort of handling problem towards either a skid, spin, roll and/Or severe crash . FYI: This rule was actually in Carwars by Steve Jackson Games
My set should arrive tomorrow - haven't played in 30 years. I have a question about lane changes and drifts on the curves - as adjacent lanes are offset by half, how does this work? You're no longer in a clearly defined "box" if you know what I mean.
If I recall it does cover that with diagrams in the rulebook. But may be more clearly explained in the White Line Fever supplement. Hopefully you found it

I love this game, problem is not too many of my friends have the patience to play this intricate, realistic game. (Chess played with cars ).Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to do a hazard roll after every action your car makes. Also, I've never really understood how you start the game, ie, choose type of car, type of weapons, skill of driver, etc or do you start everyone the same.
butterball2000 hi yeah we made a few mistakes in this game. So if you are going over 80mph you have to make a hazard roll when you drift. I think it suffers from the problem of a lot of early GW games where the rules are a bit vague and not very well laid out (I’m trying to learn Advanced Space Crusade lol), so it’s hard for a lot of people to get into. Still, we had good fun playing it and we are planning to put up another game of it soon, hopefully when this lockdown finishes.
Primer Only Games indeed, plenty of time for good in depth games back then too, no internet. I’m up in the wilds o the far highlands, I don’t even know anybody who plays GW stuff of my age any more😂

Definitely want more cars and some bikes but it is better to crawl first before trying to run.
