In some of the best ways, too. It didn't really hit me until Final Shape that Zavala's character is very much like a combination of Job from the Bible and the Giving Tree
The nightmares are part of how the witness works. You are seeing it now. It preys on your deepest regrets and promises you salvation from them. Just as it did when it spoke to our guardian at the end of Shadow keep. It has been watching and it has learned much.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Hes not entirely correct. The Nightmares are a defense mechanism of the Lunar Pyramid that was helmed by a character you will learn about later. The Witness may have used em to his advantage but they're original purpose isnt that.
Everything about Zavala's story hits so much harder now that Lance Reddick is gone. It was already rough to begin with, but that added moment really really makes you hurt.
This was a very good season story-wise. Learning about Zavala's history really set a different tone to his character... his story does continue later on...
Up to now Ikorra and Crow have had a lot of screen time and development, Eris as well. This is the proper start of Zavalas development that continues to Final Shape
Yeah, everyone knew this season was going to be dark from the trailer, but no one thought it would be this dark. Especially with Zavala's back story, many people speculated about his life before the last city and before he became commander, but no one was expecting it to be this dark and sad 😢. I have only cried 4 times from Destiny and the first time was when Cayde died. The second time was hearing Zavala's back story.
Hearing you say calus sounds like a good dad knowing what he did to her warbeast(dog) is funny. He got jealous of caitl giving her warbeast more love than him, so he killed it and never talked about it again
I love this season because it acts as a good end for Eris' character arc too. Eris has spent her life in sorrow since she lost her friends to Crota. When she met us she was distant and cold, afraid of losing us like she lost them, but as we proved ourselves capable and nigh impossible to kill she opened up more, but really only to us. She was still Haunted by her past and in Shadowkeep we were finally able to help her lay those Nightmares to rest and give her closure. Having come to terms with her past and learning to cherish the good memories of her late friends, she opened her heart a little more. She found a connection with Drifter, who's been through just as much shit as she has if not more. Here in this season she is able to take what she learned through dealing with her own guilt, grief, and sorrow and is using it to be a therapist for Crow, Zavala, and Caiatl. She can lead them to the same sense of closure and peace we helped her find. Eris has a line in this season in a message to Drifter and it reads: "...We have both felt it. How a moment of pain can weave into the whole of our lives. How it binds us to patterns of thought and action. I have stared into the eyes of my pain made manifest. Pleaded with it. Raged at it. What face would your Nightmare wear? For so long, I believed peace was beyond my reach. No more. I have found it in guiding others down the same path that saved me. But…I might allow myself to want more than peace. What, I am not certain. Is joy the word? Might I find that again? You told me to live my life. There is more truth in you than either of us would care to admit..." This marks the end of her arc of pain, she has found peace, and now she begins the journey to find joy once more.
When you called the Calus bot an animatronic did anyone tell you those machines are the boss of the first raid and at the end we see a hanging rack filled with TONS of them
I would honestly recommend finding a different source for this stuff, calus dialogue is a good example of dialogue than can be difficult to discern at times without subtitles, is for me at least.
Zavala's story continues in The Final Shape.
Oh wow, so we have a ways to go 😯

he said the thing! Callus said 'The Final Shape!'
This season had everyone in tears, the descendants of Zavala's wife live in the Last City and they are unaware of who he is to them too.
Not anymore, the last of them didn't survive the red war
@arcadeinvader8086 the last one died during season of the splicer

The music in Zavala's Dark Age cutscene hits harder now.

as Season of the Haunted went on, some players started calling it 'Season of Psychological Damage'. a lot of old wounds were shown here.
Fun fact: In one of the lore books from this Season, it’s revealed that Ikora also had a Nightmare. It was Cayde 😢.
😢 poor Ikora

It’s hilarious but so good imo that Eris is the closest thing everybody in Destiny has to a therapist lol she’s come so far and helps everybody out

Not going to lie calus sounds like someone recorded there voice lines on the toilet
Season of The Feels
Right off the bat, a trigger happy Guardian.

Ah, yes. The Season of Emotional Damage.
This is known as the Season of Therapy for a reason. The writing was really peaked at this point for sure.
No part 3? 😢
Oh crap did we not release that? 😯
