Microphone unmute was late at the performer reveal, lighting is sophomoric and terrible, too much flash and trash for a musical, waaay too saturated color and not enough highlight, the intensity chases are best for a club or the ice rink, move the electrics up about 3’ to a broadway trim, not a club trim, clearly the lighting designer was a total inexperienced nube. Too bad really, could have been a great show. This kind of disregard for theatrical artistic integrity is why cruise lines get a bad reputation for terrible shows. Clearly royal is saving money by not contracting/licensing actual IP like hairspray, this they can freely wreck the show quality with no oversight.
Were you actually there in-person to see it all or just basing all of that off this video snippet of one song? I got to see this full musical just last week on the ship from the 4th row center. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Great set design and costumes, lighting and the full orchestra were great, too, along with the special effects like Dorothy flying over the audience on her bed simulating being caught in a tornado and much more. The talent on the stage was just perfect. I would definitely give the show a 10 out of 10 and plan to see it again when I am back on the ship next month. Definitely was a highlight for me along with the Aqua show in the Aquadome and the ice skating show. Absolutely beautiful ship with so much to do. I didn't get to see and do everything last week, so heading back next month, too.
I’m sure you’re the most best incredible theatre reviewer out there in the world. Your opinion reflects more about you than the creatives that put the show together. If you don’t enjoy something, you can just as easily buzz off than trytaint it with your pretentious opinionated flatness.
It's a fantastic show -- amazing costumes and special effects. Singing was very strong. And, i enoyed it a lot as i was familiar with most of the music. A very solid Broadway-quality cruise ship show!
What's your brain hair idea for a good musical? The Wizard of Oz is one of the most magical shows there is, Love by adults and children for decades. Do you know how hard it is to pull off that show? You've got a flying house ( which they fly over the audience from what I've seen) and a hurricane, you've got a witch who has to disappear multiple times and who's got a fly, you've got fire several times, flying monkeys, snow, flying Glenda, A flying balloon let's not mention all the quick changes at the end To transform from the Cowardly lion scarecrow and Tin Man Immediately Into their counterparts in Kansas you try getting all that makeup off that fast, and oh did I forget the yellow brick road, the disappearing of the Ruby slippers, the Witch's crystal ball that has to light up with her face and and Em's face, and over 25 seen changes to enjoy. You my friend have no experience when it comes to musicals. When is done right you see the magic of everything in the movie come to life on stage, it's a great show. And it looks like they've pulled it off pretty well. Maybe you should give it a shot and realize and appreciate the beauty of Oz
AMAZING! Even more amazing is they have a full live orchestra onboard! Congrats RCCL Icon Team!!!
not impressive because they hire the orchestra from low paying countries. It's a budget way to get musicians who can also play in the bars/lounges
Incredible production. This rivals most shows on land!
Wow! I love that we get a glimpse of the live musicians. Looks and sounds great!!
They came to SLAY 1:18
This would be like a dream come true for me
Most broadway like show ive ever seen on a cruise ship
Yes totally!
I saw Hairspray on Symphony of the Seas and when it was first launched into service 5 years ago and it was equally as good as Oz
I like the way that guy handles Toto.
It was definitely giving Lion King vibes. the actor had puppy energy for sure
The costume designer deserves a raise
And the choreographer!!
OK HAND MOVEMENTS GO AWFFF 0:38
Why was the witch behind them at the end?
Was there a jitterbug scene in this show? I would definitely like to see that
It sure was! I did not record the whole thing.... Jitterbug was a very well done number
wow
It would be so cool if rover could play Toto
Yes!!!
In this number Dorothys dress goes from flowing every to stiff and hard does anyone know why I have never been to this show so I don't know
The cut at 2:09 is really inelegant.

@@SkyBlu868 What set? It's all projection
@bigred8432 No, most was an actual set with some projection. You are only seeing one small piece of the whole production here.
@@SkyBlu868 I saw it live friend

LOL A 2 billion dollar boat and all they can think of is a Wizard of Oz musical? 😂
This is one night of your cruise.
