I forgot to mention: - this is how i set my initial base price for my most simple plain sets! of course once you have your base price you can set other prices higher depending on your nail designs, how long it takes you to make the nails etc! :) I have many different prices now and over time my business costs reduced and so did my product cost! - For shipping costs I use my shipping providers rates (Royal Mail) and I charge customers for this separately. If you want to offer free shipping and not make any losses then include your shipping costs in your nail prices!
just starting out and my goal isn't to make it big but to make good quality nails for a affordable price for people who cant afford much but want their nails done! everyone deserves to feel good and I know I feel unstoppable with a good nail on.
This is a perfect video for me just starting out. Appreciate all of the time and information and the easy way you have of explaining it! Thank you very much!
Thank you for making this video. I'm just starting (literally, still working on my business name and getting cards). I'm so thankful for beautiful, intelligent & knowledgeable videos like yours!!!!!!
I wanted to ask(as someone who has an accounting brain😅) did you factor in labour as a cost and if so how did you? Because I've got every cost calculated( down to how much lint free wipes I'll use for each nail set, VERY IN DEPTH I'd done about 4 business plans throughout school so that's probably why I'm overthinking it😳😅) it's just labor for me. I understand it will vary depending on the nail se but for a baseline, What formula did you use, because the usual way is an annual formula; which is usually Annual Labor Cost = Gross Pay + Annual Costs. Also did you work on hourly or not consider time but estimate. Thank and also even though this was a while ago your videos are a huge help thank you😁😊.
this is the most helpful thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am starting a press on business and this is so helpful cuz I didn't know how to price them. TYSM!!!!!
Thank you for this pricing primer. Couple questions: Did you include marketing costs into your initial cost evaluation and if so how did you decide on what and how that was allocated? With your methods at what rate per hour does.that account for your time if you take that into account?
Hi! No I didn't include marketing costs, I allocated that as an expense. 'cost of goods sold' in an income statement is every cost or purchase needed to create the product you're selling itself ... marketing does not contribute to creating the product, you are simply giving your product exposure so it's just a normal expense. I hope that makes sense
One thing I was wondering is if you are taking into account the cost of purchasing the polishes.. I feel like thinking about packaging, tips, stones, etc. is very easy to add up, but how to you calculate the cost of nail polish? Do you just pay for them by "eating in your profits"? EDIT: I know you mentioned the amount you invested, but let's say you buy 10 nail polishes, and enough packaging for 50 sets. The 10 nail polishes can be used for longer than these 50 times. So, do you consider it part of your starting up costs, or do you not? I hope it's a bit clearer!
Hey hey! Yes your question is clear, I only valued the start up costs as everything I bought right at the beginning with the £150 to get my business started. So for example with your 10 polishes, those would be part of start ups costs then whenever I buy more or top up on polishes those are also expenses just like the other stuff. The profits my business makes is what I use to re-invest and buy more stock. I never used my own money after the initial start up cost. I hope that answers your question, if not let me know 😅
I make press on nails for my friends and want to make my presentation better. Thank you for your help and advice with one of your previous posts on packaging. Who knows. Maybe I’ll sell them one day. Question…what is the name of the glue/tape you use to stick the nails to the card, please? Thank you and good luck with your business 🙏🏻
Is there a formula for buying wholesale/bulk inventory? For example, if I were to buy 500 pieces full cover tips and 20 gel nail polish will I have to break down the bulk inventory to find out the cost of a set
Wow, thanks for this. It us very helpful. I know how to do this for culinary so I was wondering how I applied it to press-ons 🤗🤗🤗 thanks!! ♥️ New sub 🥂
Hi,I'm saanvi and I want to start a press on nail buisness. Through ur video I'm able to understand everything about nails but I have a ques wht if u don't have the nail of ur customer size?
Hi Saanvi, I’m sorry I don’t fully understand your question, do you mean if a customer orders and you have run out of their nail size? Or do you mean if they ask for a custom nail size that you don’t have?
@@leelapant6460 if a customer orders and you don’t have their size, you need to tell them as soon as possible that you don’t have it and refund them immediately if you can’t make their order. You also need to be letting them them know before they pay that you don’t have their size.
Heya , i have a quick question, what is the name of the card you used to stick your nails on , I currently using boxes and I want to move from boxes , can I get them on Amazon?

Hey! Thank you so much 😊 aw definitely consider selling them, lots of people may love your nails! The tape is just “clear double sided tape” 💕
Very helpful video in starting my business. Thank you for the different methods!

Random question about having an online store: what do you do for your return address when you mail things out? Do you get a PO Box?
Hey, it’s entirely up to you, if privacy is a concern then definitely do get a PO Box😊
How do you price the use of nail varnish, acetone wipe?...

Interesting. I always figured sale price was cost x 3 for wholesale and cost x 5 for retail sales.
Ah okay I’ve not heard that before, where do the 3 and 5 numbers come from?
