If they could combine the speed of Disney's slot car rides like Test track and the motion simulator mobility that could be an amazing ride.

I remember watching the JTT special way back when and then explaining the ride system and my mind was BLOWN. I’m still terribly impressed that early 90s computers were able to coordinate this.

Judging from how often Indy breaks down, that ability is still an open question.

This very detailed technical primer on the EMV felt a lot different than most of the ReviewTyme videos I'm used to, which tend to be more about attractions' history and reception. I like this new style, and while I definitely wouldn't want to see the traditional ReviewTyme history videos go away, it would be great to see some more videos like this mixed in among them. Luke, Dom, keep up the great work on your channel!

Great video guys! These vehicles were so advanced when Indy opened, that’s it’s hard to remember that it is now 25 years old. Still amazing technology. Great deep dive. 👍👍

I want a Jurassic World jeep safari EMV dark ride with 3D screens, practical sets, and animatronics featuring Jurassic World dinosaurs!

I want some pretty cool dark rides with EMV ride vehicles, 3D screens, practical sets, and animatronics!

As I understand it, the Test Track/Radiator Springs Racers system is basically a faster version of the bottom of one of these, without the motion bed on top.

As outdated and expensive these EMV rides are, I genuinely hope Shanghai Disneyland's Zootopia E-ticket utilizes the tech, and maybe even a brand-new, lengthened ride layout. If not, perhaps a more advanced, trackless version of the tech. Hell, I'll even settle for a motion-based 3D dark ride, like Spider-Man or Transformers

Philly Okeechobee I agree with you a bit...
I’d like to see that happen for dark rides based on Disney/Pixar’s Brave, Disney’s Mulan, the Disney animated series Star vs the Forces of Evil, Disney’s Maleficent, and even Disney’s live-action remake of The Jungle Book!

@@carminecdinoproductions Mulan needs a darkride! An EMV could work if they manage to theme the vehicles well. It would work well with the more wild environments where most of the movie takes place (the mountains)

The Zootopia E-ticket ride is said to be a simulator style ride with a full projected dome around you. This idea comes from a non built trolley attraction for toontown called Toontown Transit. Which you can read about here disney.fandom.com/wiki/Roger_Rabbit%27s_Hollywood

Lol every theme park is using the Oceaneering now a days, inexpensive, high capacity, controlable movement low maintenance compared to the traditional EMV

I had the amazing shower thought of making a super-EMV, used for flight simulator type rides, where it’s able to maneuver even more than normal, and could probably even go upside down!

Wow I didn't know that each EMV has a 16GB EEPROM, that's quite a lot of storage for a ride that originally opened in 1995!

I'm a 'theatre marine' and spent my college years slipping off-ride into the backstage of the Haunted Mansion in WDW and Dland [ a couple of times into PeterPan, but that was too physically dangerous]. So I would particularly love a guided tour backstage of this attraction! PS I would dress in theatre blacks so that I was never observed...Must preserve the performance quality!!

I love Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. However, I have to watch out for when I can ride it because it has left me with bruises and back pain before. People say that the Matterhorn is the most painful ride in the park, but I think Indiana Jones hurts more. That doesn't mean I think it's a bad ride though. I love it and I look forward to every time I can get on it. For as often as this thing breaks down, I've never actually gotten stuck on it, but I really want to. This probably has the most theming and most detail of any attraction in the park, so I hope that it doesn't go anywhere because I really want my chance to get evacuated from it. I've heard that this is Tony Baxter's favorite thing to have designed... and that man was the lead of Disneyland Paris. So if he can choose this over an entire park, as well as all the other fantastic things he designed and built, then you know that it's something special.

I think one of the underestimated reasons why Indy is better than Dinosaur is that Indy is supposed to be inside a temple, so the indoor environment feels correct to the story. In Dinosaur, it also feels like you’re inside, which doesn’t make sense.

Just saying, Intamin does manufacture an EMV ride and it’s used for Pharoah’s Fury at Lotte World in Korea and Sultan’s Adventure at Lefoo Village in Taiwan

It’s cool to see how they’re sort of a proto-trackless Ride vehicle, with regards to the fact that they’re all computer-controlled and reporting their location to a central thing, and that it’s essentially self-propelled.
I do hope one day they give it the update it needs, either to trackless or just an overhaul of the tech so they don’t break down so much. That ride still packs in the people and I’ve never gone to Disneyland to ride it without it breaking down at least once. Maybe when they make the new one they could use it as an excuse to refurbish?

I wonder how the Japanese ones, being electric over classically hydrolic, fare with the break downs? Would it be cost effective for Disney to convert the Anaheim and Orlando variants to that version in order to prevent as many break downs to the aging design?
