Very rare video featuring the sound of the bells of the famous bell tower in Cremona (Italy)

The Torrazzo di Cremona is the symbol of the city of Cremona (Italy). The cathedral bell tower is one of the tallest medieval towers in Europe at 112.54 metres. The bell tower consists of two towers built into each other and was built in four stages from 1230 to 1309. On the fourth floor of the bell tower is one of the largest astronomical clocks in the world, which is why since November 2018 it has housed the Vertical Museum, entirely dedicated to the measurement of time and accessible to tourists from all over the world.
The bell tower has a concert of seven bells, tuned in the diatonic scale of A-flat major. The seven bells were cast by the Bozzi foundry in Milan in 1744. The smallest bell weighs 465 kg while the largest weighs 3270 kg. The bells are rarely rung in motion, less than once a year and only for exceptional and unrepeatable events. This video is therefore very rare, almost unique. The rest of the year the bells are stationary and the sound is made by simply striking hammers on the edge of the bell. The bell concert was made in honour of the new bishop of Trieste, Enrico Trevisi, a native of Cremona.
The cathedral was built in the early 12th century, a period of great economic prosperity for the city of Cremona. The foundation stone was laid on 26 August 1107 and the cathedral was consecrated in 1190 by Bishop Sicardo. In 1491, the architect Alberto Maffiolo da Carrara rebuilt the upper part of the façade, which is now one of the most beautiful in the world. Below the presbytery is the large crypt excavated in Romanesque times, which houses the body of Saint Homobono, the patron saint of the city. The entire surface of the cathedral was frescoed in the 1500s by some of the most important artists of the time. The main fresco is for the monumental 9x12 metre Crucifixion painted at the entrance in 1520.
