Would a stator be junk if you start the sled up and instantly starts back firing and running like crap I have 98 xc 600 liberty that I just got and cleaned the carbs and all it wants to do it pop and act like it's on one cylinder
@@michaelwinberg4469 Yes, pull the black protective sock back at the right side reed cage and you will more than likely find either the red or blue wire rubbed through, re soder wire and heatshrink and you will be good to go

There is a blue and a red wire that come off of the pickup coil, those wires travel up to the cdi box, the wires will rub through under the black protective sock / covering near the right side reed cage and cause all kinds of driveability issues, running on 1 cylinder and stalling

I'd still get that flooding problem fixed.if those needle valves are bad they act up once you start bouncing them around. Usually fine in the shop but acts up on the trail...murphys law...lol.
You could have tested the resistance on the stator to see if they are at spec. Did a 96 Venture stator. Tucked in behind everything possible. A real pain.
could you do a video on changing the mechanical seal on water pump ? how to press it all together?? i also have a weird kind of elbow that comes out of water pump housing that came loose or unsoldered. how did polaris connect that elbow pipe fitting soldering or some type of bonding adhesive?? its a 98 xc 700 like yours. that elbow came out lost all the coolant and i seized the motor, any tips or help would help greatly !!
I spent last weekend trying to replace my 91 650 stator but I can't get the flywheel off the crank. I was hoping to get one ride in before the snow disappeared but I don't think it's going to happen.
I ordered an universal puller so I can get an impact on it. I was using the HF steering wheel puller, and it doesn’t leave enough room for the impact. Thanks for the reply and the great content, you’ve kept me going on my project, despite the frustration.
I have a 1996 Indy classic 500 and it run good but if you stop it just bogs out. but if you let it sit for like 5-10 minutes it is just perfectly fine again any idea what it is?
That’s nothing. When I was a kid and had my first sled we fluffed my sled so bad trying to start it when we pulled the plugs to check spark and pulled it over it shot a stream of gas that hit the ceiling and was dumping it into the exhaust pipe, had to clean the pipe out with a torch

I learned from this video that the extra stator I have from my RMK 700 would work for the other liberty motors. Great video man!

I know. The thing is, it’s intermittent. So I wouldn’t trust ohming it.

Supposed to use a special tool to set the seal. I don’t have one. Never had a water pump go bad before, and if I do I have 5 spare water pumps 😂

Puller and a beefy 1/2” impact, havnt found one that wouldn’t come off lol
