“A grinder and paint makes me the welder I ain’t” It’s not the sheet metal work that’s interesting (though it is), it’s the guy doing it. I’m enjoying your back catalog. 😊👍👍
Truck is shaping up nicely! Might be worth hitting the frame/undercarriage with a wire wheel & some paint before winter hits. I did mine this past summer and boy does it look worlds better
The first things I would do is to replace the wheels and tire with standard heavy tires and wheels, lower it to the standard height and install a heavy duty tow package.
It amazes me how quickly modern (1990 & newer) trucks rust out. My '65 F100 had a small hole in the cab corner when I bought it and 14 years later that rust spot hasn't expanded at all and it hasn't developed any new rust anywhere else. My Scientific Wild A$$ Guess is a large factor for truck rot is when the government forced the manufacturers to switch to water base paint.
I feel like there are several factors. Cheaper thinner sheet metal. More complex panels that are designed with zero regard to dirt/water entrapment. Next the shit they put on the road most of the country now days is absolute hell on vehicles. I'm sure there are other causes as well.
If you are disappointed with your sheetmetal repairs it's a good thing I didn't do the job. Because your disappointment would quickly turn into felony assault charges. What iam trying to say is you did a decent job and haven't even applied the bondo beauty cream yet. Good work!
Im just a Boomer of 43😂(my son calls me) for what i know You may wanna consider NH Oil or Fluid Film since we live in Northern Ohio, Especially Toledo and Cleveland where rock salt is mined under lake Erie 😮 And for tailgate As long as it isn't a Bondo sculpture . Ive been messing with rusty Rams and Dakotas for the last 20 years- when i got my first truck. And this kind of re-skin isnt a bad way at all done correctly.. what you are learning here you will use on other parts cab corners etc. Ive done entire inner bed wheel wells this way. It Works. On a side note why aren't you using that Garage?? 😮😂Cheers from the glass city
Better than holes, rust and mismatched parts! The more black on black deletes the better. Never been a fan of that look. Man 150 bucks is a smoking deal for those tires. Should have painted the emblems bronze!
Dude just get a new tailgate, they aren’t that expensive for a new aftermarket shell. Really, they are cheap. And you just transfer over all your hardware to the new shell. Time is money!
Sometimes good enough is good enough.
That's what I'm sayin!

so am I the only one who wants to see more Napoleon Dynamite memes? Please keep those coming 😜
Coming right up! 🫡
Probably a good idea to fluid film the entire truck to stop the rust so it won’t get worse. Just my 2cents
I usually spray used oil or transmission fluid come the winter months!
Great job , the truck is looking good . If you want perfect buy new but after spending all that money they become old anyway. Keep them on the road!
Thanks pal!
Yeah. I reckon it is pretty good. Rust is never a good look.

I’m 95% sure that bed is rotten under those fender flares. That thing would look good with a steel flatbed!
It's definitely got some rot going on. I agree!

I typically giver a spray with old trans fluid for the winter! One of these days I'll work on something in that garage haha!
It's mopars fault in how they stamp their metal together it's not good it allows moisture, but for being on a budget you did good 👍
