Well considering the power and hate he put in the ring that new form would have been so hateful and ugly as to be downright horrifying. I think it was screengiant that wrote an article about this

It sucks because, in theory, Lord Of The Rings would be best suited for a long-running TV show. It could have so many seasons. But this one needs to be canceled.
Annatar, the Lord of Gifts... that name was never mentioned in LotR so it couldn't be used in the TV series (it's mentioned in The Silmarillion). He was basically supposed to look like a hot angelic Elf. He actually stayed with Celebrimbor in Eregion for 300 years, although the TV Series makes it seem like just a few weeks. Galadriel, Elrond and Gil-Galad were very suspicious of his true nature, though (and they were the wearers of the Three).
People hate on the show but I love it. Imagine being a Middle Earth fan and hating on more middle earth content… we haven’t gotten any since the Hobbit besides the few games (shadow of Mordor and war, and Moria). I love that we’re finally getting more. I hope a sequel to the events of LOTR comes to life.
Well more than that, Maiar like Sauron, Gandalf, Saruman, etc. are of the same race Gandalf and the other Ishtari are incarnated as old Wizard men with restrictions to their power, such as relying on a staff to channel their power They’re meant to have restrictions so they be less likely to abuse their power like Sauron did, and they’re meant to guide Middle Earth to solve their own problems eith their wisdom They appear as old men to appear humble and trusting wise men, Sauron has no restrictions and can take any form he wants Sauron and the Maiar use physical bodies to interact in Middle Earth and would take appearances that could be different from their true forms as Maiar Sauron is a shapeshifter as well and can change his form as he sees fit Often in various media he takes Elven Forms, not just for being Annatar because he admires the Elves for their perfection And beauty He would take Men based forms as well like Halbrand Still in the books his form his ambiguous as Tolkien really drew him as a towering black figure So Sauron’s appearance is left to interpretation really as the Dark Lord can be anything he wants to appear
I still think Annatar Lord of Gifts would have played better on the show they should made up man from the south. Take liberties to make a good show but don’t change import aspects of characters
In "The Lord of the Rings," Sauron can be seen as a representation of the fallen angel Lucifer, also known as Satan. He shares many of the same characteristics, such as being referred to by various names and being called "the deceiver." Sauron is portrayed as an immoral, evil being who influences others and desires dominion over all living beings. His strategy for gaining power over everyone in Middle-earth mirrors the way greed can lead to self-destruction. By tempting the inhabitants of Middle-earth with the allure of power, he essentially watches from the shadows as their own desires cause their downfall. Interestingly, scripture also references Lucifer's desire for the gemstones. In his original state, Lucifer's breastplate was adorned with nine gemstones, but after falling from grace, he was unable to acquire the last three stones needed for complete power. 😮
Lmao, using the fan fiction thats the dumpster fire that is ROP as reference? Yea, there's a reason we know it doesn't match with the books, the writers have contempt for the lore.
To answer honestly, it's supposed to be based on the fall of numenor and the creation of the rings of power, but since that part reads more like a historical text than a novel Amazon decided it should be filled to the brim with modern politics and diversity hires.
It shouldn't be a problem to write in Tolkien lore without backlash, video games managed to do it. But it really helps when you actually like the setting and you aren't just trying to corrupt something other people love to push your ideology.
Sauron true form is spirit not housed in a body. He should have been in the body of a high elf, but better, in much of the second age. a fair form-Alatar. Later in the secomd age his body is destroyed, he is able create a body again, but not fair.
This isn’t what Tolkien wrote. Nothing in Amazons abomination is Tolkien. Hobbits and Harfoots didn’t exist in the second age. Galadriel was married to Celeborn and Sauron never did any of those things. This show is basically a billion dollar giant turd.
It's not necessarily true that Harfoots and Stoors the most ancient ancestors of the Hobbits of the Shire didn't exist in the Second Age. Tolkein simply didn't mention them as being important to the story until then. Galadrial is also married to Celeborn in Rings of Power as well she has an entire conversation about it. They become seperated both in the books and Rings of Power TV Show just in different ways at a different time. In the show he goes missing during the wars over the Silmarills. In the books they were married around the same time but were seperated when Sauron in disguise instigated a revolt against them in Eregion and Galadrial goes through Moria and founds the Kingdom of Lothlorian and Celeborn wasn't exactly missing though he also was missing or they were also seperated during the war of the Jewls for a while as well. They are also seperated a third time as as Celeborn remains behind in Middle Earth after Galadrial departed for some time.
People get so triggered about fantasy stuff that is all made up, fiction. "Sauron didn't do that, "galadriel didn't do this" , blah blah blah. As if this was written on stones and can not be changed or improvised. Lol
@@vinlondon8904 It is kind of funny because the fans like myself( It's the first stories my dad read me as a kid( it was the 1970s when the books were very popular) typically think of the Silmarillion which was published after Tolkieins death by his son as a sort of Cannon for everything else. Tolkein in part wrote LOTR as a Mythology for Anglo Saxon England that never really existed. This is because the Early Saxons had a Taboo on writing stuff down especially history they did Oral History. So the Silmarillion is therefore( Tolkein used it as a sort of framework to build the LOTR Universe for himself as the author and never meant to publish it) served as a Mythology that the Charachters in the LOTR sort of believe in. But it's not strictly a Cannon and Tolkein himself wrote several versions of the entire story and was famous for all the rewrites he did. For example The Hobbit was, in the beginning not at all part of the LOTR Story. He had been working on what became the Simarillion and LOTR in the Trenches of WWI during the Battle of the Somme. He wrote the Hobbit later as a children's story for his kids and then when he was near publishing LOTR he realized they could make a greater story together and went back and re -wrote the entire thing to connect them. Tolkein never wanted his Ledgendarium to have any kind of hard and fast Cannon and there is alot he wanted the reader to interpret with imagination as fiction writers often do. So your right it's bizarre people get so triggered but for The Rings of Power TV Show that's not why fans get mad. We get mad because they went way beyond violating some kind of false Cannon. They took beloved Charachters and just character assassinated them. It's almost like an anti Tolkein TV Show. One of the many themes woven into LOTR is men going off to war and how it changes them and you can't ever genuinely go home and sometimes the sacrifice for everyone back home is for those men perminant and unfixable. You do it for everyone back home that you love but home as a consequence cannot be saved for you. Because this wasn't something Women in Tolkeins day were heavily involved in Women as a rule were not big Characters in much of his story. Except for two very important Characters. Luthian and her Cousin Galdrial. These were Magically Powerful women. Luthien was a combination of Elf and Demigod( Miar in the story as her Mother was a powerful Miar equal to Sauron) These women were never warriors in the traditional sense and never carried a sword. Galadrial for one was already older that Elrond is in LOTR when she first came to Middle Earth and she is by the stories end the second oldest living Elf and close to the oldest living creature in Middle Earth( like she's been in Middle Earth about 8,000 years and was already probably 5,000 years old when she first arrived and they have her acting like a Petulant Teenager in the ROP TV series. She is the Mirror Opposite of the Character we see in the Peter Jackson film which is much closer to Book Accurate. And they spent millions making this dumpster fire when they could have done something so much better. It's not even just that though that gets fans riled. Amazon could have made something totally unique and all its own and it could have still worked out were the writing good but it's terrible. They should have shot for a Middle ground of giving fans what they were looking for and at the sane time have something for people new to the story. They made the Halbrand character out to be this big mystery but for anyone who's read the lore behind Sauron Halbrand stopped being a Mystery about the time they got to Numenor in the show and Halbrand began to do and say the things he did. It was clear from the Charachters first intro he was not who he appeared to be but in Numenor when he steals the Guild crest, fights four Numerous at once and wins and then tells Galaadrial how to manipulate people and has been doing so to both her and everyone the entire show combined with the fact he seems to have some great regret waking on him that's never explained all tell you this is Sauron and you spend the rest of the show ignoring all the background noise of the show just wondering when he's going to come clean on who he really is and sure enough he eventually does just that. He is actually the only real well written character in the show they just door a poor job of making him any kind of Mystery. The books describe Sauron as being somewhat regretful and repentant of his deeds in aiding Morgoth but his pride and fear would not allow him to return to Valinor and endure the Judgement of the Valar so this is the sense of regret he is dealing with as Halbrand in the show and they do a good job with that. Saron and Saruman were compatriots and served the same Vala back in during creation and in Valinor who was Aule the sort of God of Smith Craft who also created the Dwarves. He is very opposite of Morgoth and was a creator rather than a Detroyer. This is why he is eager to forge steel in Numenor. Sauron while evil is a bit of a twisted Promethius or Fallen Angel like Charachter rather than the Devil and Like Saruman in LOTR one of his greatest powers lies in his voice and ability to pursued and manipulate with it. So all of these being present kind of gives away who he is.
I still think Sauron was a decent administrator, compared to the real big bad, Melkor Plus tbh the first and second ages just sound way more exciting than the third
I find the tv show good. Not sure why some people like to criticise everything. Maybe because they just want views and comments. Or some others think that have an opinion about something is equivalent to not liking it.

Tolkien’s legendarium includes God-with-a-capital-G: Eru Iluvatar. He created a set of sub-deities that can be considered angels if you’re thinking in Judeo-Christian terms or gods-with-a-small-G if you’re thinking in pagan terms. In his early writings, Tolkien himself called them gods, but he later dropped that term.
He was seemingly reborn in the first episode of the rings of power. That was one of the only good episodes I've ever seen of this show. After that, it quickly shifted back into its woke nightmare of a show that it had always been. @@rivgacooper5330You said it. Crazy how the only things adapted to screen were a set of movies based on his books, and one terrible TV show based on nothing but politics. Let's stick to his actual writing. I mean the Hobbit movies weren't great, but at least it wasn't an outright insult.
It must be tough to know that the very estate this came from accepts this, and the fact Simon Tolkien has been helping give guidance on the show. People who whine about lore accurate anything sre just mad that they don't have enough money to ask for rights to create their own series with the liberties granted since Tolkien left a lot of it to interruption. But go on, whine. Just because you're too broke to work with the Tolkien estate on what you think it should be AS A FAN doesn't give you the right to whine.

Book readers know that everything in "rings of power" is garbage so far removed from Tolkien's actual work that relating the two does the author a disservice.
Call it the rings of prime
This is giving an inside view on Sauron as a character, just because you're too poor to work with the Tolkien estate to create your own interpretation doesn't give you the reason to whine over it.😂
@@grizzlyblackpowder1960 also , do you whine about Peter Jackson's movies which are FAR from being book accurate either. Tolkien's estate is ok with this series , Simon Tolkien helps with it. Why are you acting like such an unwashed ass?!
Rings of Power isn’t canon. Anything you see in it is fan fiction, and not authoritative in Tolkien’s works.
Not even fan fiction as the people who created it are not fans. In fact, they seem to actively hate the fans.

Sauron.
Sauron doesnt have the concept of evil. Hes here to be in charge and cleanse everything his way. Not knowing its the wrong way. Basically the ends justify the means?
Saurons true form is that of a spiritual plain like Gandalf. They’re spiritual selves are MUCH older then middle earth.
Im crap at explaining but i can answer any q’s you have. Middle earth is an autism subject for me lol.

Amazon's CEO said and I quote "The Rings of Power is meant to erase all of what Tolkien wrote" in a reveal before the series aired. This is also the reason I refuse to ever watch it. They literally spat in the face of all of Tolkien's fan base with that series. (On a side note I did not rhyme that intentionally 😅)
I highly doubt that’s what he said.
He never said that you pathetic liar
Why lie? I'm pretty sure he said the opposite of that when the show was coming out....
@@Sportsloverandrewwell even if they didn't say it, it's what they are doing. The entire thing is like thousands of tiny insults to both Tolkien and anyone who enjoyed the books as they were written. It's poorly written by poorly written standards, it obviously cares more about modern politics than the subject matter, and it claims to be of a setting that has very few written characters, and even less dialogue.the whole thing is a scam, most of the story is completely made up following no Tolkien writing at all.
The only reason this exists, is so they can do to Tolkien's writing what morgoth did to the orcs, twist and corrupt it until it is unrecognizable.
Bruh you’re bullshitting
There was nothing below the armour. After neumenor, he could no longer turn into that shape. He then took the appearance of a knight clad in black armour
Númenór's sinking hasn't happened yet
Sauron was a deciple of melkor, who knew more of urus the ones mind than any other ,think god and Lucifer. Lucifer was once beutiful and glorious, like Melkor.
This is one of my favorite pieces of LOTR lore. What did Sauron's true form look like? Well after his first defeat he lost his physical form and had to rely on the rings power to make him a new form. Well considering the power and hate he put in the ring that new form would have been so hateful and ugly as to be downright horrifying. I think it was screengiant that wrote an article about this
To be fair, every time they make a movie or show inspired by Tolkien's work I have to remind myself that they are adaptations and is not necessarily going to include every detail exactly how it appears in the books.
I really liked how he looked in the shadow games, part elven more graceful look but with deep orange red eyes
Ya never compare lord of the rings and the rings of power, they are completely different. One is a masterpiece that stayed true to Tolkien, while the rings of power was dog shit writers and show runners trying to take something that isn’t theirs and try their hardest to ruin it.
it's cute how you think the Lord of the Rings stayed "true to Tolkien" ,tell me....who took Frodo across the river again?!

Lol “big reveal”: one that was obvious from before the show was created.
It sucks because, in theory, Lord Of The Rings would be best suited for a long-running TV show. It could have so many seasons. But this one needs to be canceled.
An absolute shame Tolkien's work was so be fouled with the rings of power. God bless.
Screw Rings of Woke
I am not alone. Everyone else realized how woke agenda ruined the show
I Love Sauron in the ring of power..truly represent many think in this world
Annatar, the Lord of Gifts... that name was never mentioned in LotR so it couldn't be used in the TV series (it's mentioned in The Silmarillion).
As a Maia, Sauron would not have had a "true" form. Any form would have been "put on".
rings of power is an insult to Tolkien
Sauron originally dosent wear armour in the books as the dark lord. The guy had skin as black as the night.
That show is god awful and it enrages me to see clips of it.
So, now I understand why Sauron chose to be on top of an High tower, he wants to have the best weapon in all franchises: high ground
Annatar was originaly the physical form of Sauron behind the mask until the destruction of Númenor.
No. Sauron did not help in the creation. Melkor (Morgoth) did. Sauron became his servant during the first age.
Right Sauron is the only Ainur that didn't participate in the SONG OF THE AINUR 🤣
@@danyelpeter1376 Lol. Well...maybe that's why he's cranky.

Because after Eru drowned him and everyone else on Numenour he was unable to make himself handsome once he was able to take physical form again.

Do all of the LOTR fans a favor and do not pretend that this garbage TV show has anything to do with Tolkien’s work! Because it doesn’t!
Sauron as an angsty Nancy boy is not a dark lord!
They got the hair right tho.
Mairon was in fact a ginger.
I think the show is during the second age so he would be blonde annatar
EVERY WORD MUST BE PURE AND TRUE TO TOLKIEN! ANY DEVIATION SHALL NOT BE TOLERATED!
Well more than that, Maiar like Sauron, Gandalf, Saruman, etc. are of the same race
Gandalf and the other Ishtari are incarnated as old Wizard men with restrictions to their power, such as relying on a staff to channel their power
They’re meant to have restrictions so they be less likely to abuse their power like Sauron did, and they’re meant to guide Middle Earth to solve their own problems eith their wisdom
They appear as old men to appear humble and trusting wise men,
Sauron has no restrictions and can take any form he wants
Sauron and the Maiar use physical bodies to interact in Middle Earth and would take appearances that could be different from their true forms as Maiar
Sauron is a shapeshifter as well and can change his form as he sees fit
Often in various media he takes Elven Forms, not just for being Annatar because he admires the Elves for their perfection And beauty
He would take Men based forms as well like Halbrand
Still in the books his form his ambiguous as Tolkien really drew him as a towering black figure
So Sauron’s appearance is left to interpretation really as the Dark Lord can be anything he wants to appear
Don't bother watching amazon's series the original Peter Jackson trilogy is the best and holds up even today
Original? The books are the original
Nah Melkor is Satan Sauron is only a demon
It’s not pronounced ‘Saar-on’ it’s ‘sour-on’
Otherwise he would be too easily confused for a certain demigod pretending to be a wizard.
Lmao, using the fan fiction thats the dumpster fire that is ROP as reference? Yea, there's a reason we know it doesn't match with the books, the writers have contempt for the lore.
Not angles but lesser gods
ROP isn't canon!!! Heck, it isn't even Tolkien.
I was reading comments and I'm confused, is the amazon series all made up? It's not Tolkien's work?
To answer honestly, it's supposed to be based on the fall of numenor and the creation of the rings of power, but since that part reads more like a historical text than a novel Amazon decided it should be filled to the brim with modern politics and diversity hires.
It shouldn't be a problem to write in Tolkien lore without backlash, video games managed to do it. But it really helps when you actually like the setting and you aren't just trying to corrupt something other people love to push your ideology.
Rings of power are nothing except badly written and over expensive fan fiction.
This is unhelpful
shota sauron
Sauron was defeated but how did he gain his form in the Lord of the Rings?
Sauron true form is spirit not housed in a body. He should have been in the body of a high elf, but better, in much of the second age. a fair form-Alatar. Later in the secomd age his body is destroyed, he is able create a body again, but not fair.
It's similar to the Anakin/Darth Vader story
Nope not really
Anatar, the deceiver
That is cool
Yeah… Rings of power…. Gotta trust that trash waste of time series
How are these people in the comments mad about Rings of Power not being accurate but not mad about LOTR not being accurate? Im genuinely curious.
Because LotR at least tries to be accurate....RoP doesn't even try it's like they hate Tolkien and his work
@ That’s the thing though… It was only supposed to be inspired by his work. Its not supposed to be based on any one book.
This isn’t what Tolkien wrote. Nothing in Amazons abomination is Tolkien. Hobbits and Harfoots didn’t exist in the second age. Galadriel was married to Celeborn and Sauron never did any of those things. This show is basically a billion dollar giant turd.
What's worse, even if this show was completely original, it is still a terribly written amd executed show.

Angels? I thought they were Gods?
Tolkien’s legendarium includes God-with-a-capital-G: Eru Iluvatar. He created a set of sub-deities that can be considered angels if you’re thinking in Judeo-Christian terms or gods-with-a-small-G if you’re thinking in pagan terms. In his early writings, Tolkien himself called them gods, but he later dropped that term.

He was seemingly reborn in the first episode of the rings of power. That was one of the only good episodes I've ever seen of this show. After that, it quickly shifted back into its woke nightmare of a show that it had always been. Which tells me they completely understood how to encapsulate the true lord of the rings style and lore accurate depiction. Which further tells me that they made it into the woke crap shoot that it is completely on purpose. Wild..
