Originally published in December 2019. This film is my most recent made project and what I consider to be my best work. I took all the lessons and skills I learned through classes and experimentation to bring this story to life. The production was quick and thorough, making for one of the smoothest processes of my time in short filmmaking.
The major flaw that I wish I had the benefit of hindsight then to fix was the audio. I had both actors call my phone and speak their lines through a voicemail. I then used a microphone and replayed the voicemail on speaker and recorded what came through the phone speakers. My devotion to a form of authenticity by recording an actual voicemail for a film titled "Voicemail" was not as warranted as I had hoped it would be. Regardless of the intake of the spoken lines, I firmly believe that this story can be understood through emotion first and allow the audience to follow along and perceive their own narrative based on the actions and reactions of the characters unfolding.
I take great pride in this film and am incredibly grateful of all who contributed their time and talents. My hope and dream is to return to the fold of filmmaking and writing, and finding this film again has rekindled that hope. All glory of this goes to God and every project that came before is credited to Him.
