fun facts from a ex-fixer upper fanatic:
jimmy don is the metal worker that joanna used in the show while clint harp is the woodworker who made all of her custom wood pieces (including the tables you mentioned). clint closed his furniture business last year so he doesn't have a physical store in the magnolia square, but he does have a tv show on the magnolia network (like you said, they've done everything.)
the little plant store in the magnolia square is actually owned by joanna's sister! not only that, she *also* has her own show focused on her plant store on the magnolia network.
the silos did exist before joanna and chip bought them, which came with the surrounding empty lot you were standing on at the beginning of the video. at first it just included the main store, the bake shop, and the food trucks. a couple years later they expanded into the entire block by adding the little community of shops, the coffee shop, the baseball field, and the church!
the church was abandonded and they relocated the entire building onto their property, obviously documenting it all on an hgtv special.

Ok so tips for Round Top (even tho you’re already gone)
Go during the spring & fall “Antiques Week”, it’d miiiiiiiiles of thrifting, and if you go on the last few days people want to get rid of their stuff and they are up to haggle.
But don’t actually go to Round Top, that’s where all the rich snobby people go, you have to go to Warrenton, the town like 2 miles down the road and go to the giant open fields full of vendors and crusty old barns that’s where the heat is. There’s usually good parking behind St. John’s Church for $5 and they have good brisket sandwiches too.

Welcome to Texas. Had no idea Chip and Joanna Gaines had a village. It felt like Target meets Pottery Barn. $3000 for an antique table is way over priced for what it is. In Sam Antonio, you can find them at Salvation Army and Goodwill stores. Sounds like they’re really trying to make a hard buck for vintage antiques.

It felt like some places were skipped, some overlapped etc. I wasn't sure what the itinerary was. 2. Kate should be mic'd - when you asked her questions I wanted to hear the answers! :) 3. Shoot the places even without you in the footage and then do voiceover, especially if you're nervous in public to film. I would've like to see the inside of Magnolia Press, your drinks etc. Hope these help! :)

If you choose to travel farther east sometime, I would be happy to ask my stylish sister for Durham recommendations. She and I live for thrifting and hobby (passion) prop-styling. I live in Dallas about 2 hours north of Waco - I never clicked on a video so fast. We stopped by the Silos on the way down to Austin once. The one time was good enough 😬
Went to Round Top last fall and it was not really our style…at least the show we went to. There were a ton of French and Italian antiques…It was also very expensive lol

My friend you have to hit the crusty old barns and open fields in Warrenton, the town like 2 miles from Round Top - skip the snobby parts around Round Top they suck!!

I think the butter bell might be for garlic. I just learned about that when I was antiquing last week and something similar was labeled for garlic. Also, love a game table. I personally have been designing my space to emulate my favorite Sims 4 activities (since the pandemic isolation). It's good to get out of your comfort zone and see whats out there!

I thought it might be for cheese. In the 19th century cheese and butter were served in those.

Good on you for visiting Waco. Thanks for not shitting on it - I mean anybody can do that. Magnolia is not my taste but it's got some OK stuff. Ya right - it is like Disneyland. It's what sociologists cal the Mcdonaldisation of everyday life.

I'm not a fan. There's some nice decor but it's like Basquiat used to write, "Samo, Samo" - nothing that stirs my soul. There's a formula that's easy to put together (imo), then there's the more interesting out of the box kind of stuff like you see in small apartments in NYC. And even better, there's super creative interiors that have dimension.
I'd LOVE to see artists' houses. I have an old book on them titled, "Artists' Houses" by Vendom Press that came out in 2005. You'd love it if you could find a copy. It would inspire you all to hell.
In the vein of small NYC apartments, I'd love to see you visit funky houses in N'Orleans.
The best part was seeing you joyfully dance around on the fake green while your friend Kate holds the camera. The whole area is one big showroom - super commercial- and pukey. They should've stuck with the silos and a restaurant/club with local musicians. It made me think of the series with Emma Stone called "The Curse" - a satirical black comedy about what's really behind the curtain with fixer upper people who do shows for the wrong reasons. ($$$$$$$ over the actual people)
You can find cool wood vintage tables that aren't $3,000. I've seen better for a an 1/8th of that cost that Chip & Joanna charge.
Re your bangs, if you have't already trimmed them, consider a longer bang that you can wear straight and also change up with some volume. You've got a kind of Jean Shrimpton vibe. (1960s model)
