batam hadir
The green vegetable it's called BITTER GOURD & SNAKE FRUIT
Heavy Chinese influence is due to the Singapore tourism market. Batam caters to that market, and many Singaporean tourists want Chinese food.
The fruit is "salak" in Indonesian and "Snake Skin Fruit" in English.
Thanks for the info 😃 I saw many Singaporeans shop here as well because everything is a fraction of the price
I can't wait to explore Indonesia 🇮🇩 ❤
Yeah, it's a beautiful country 😁
Thank you Solo for this perfect presentation of Batam. 👍👍👍When i make the next journey to Singapore, i must visit this great place 😍😍😍
Please do! It would be a nice addition to your trip!
Batam Island, I haven’t been there…but it looks interesting thru yr 1st impression of d island. Have great time n take care !
Yeah, you should come visit and check it out for yourself 😉
Fun fact : The native inhabitants of Batam are Malays, and they speak Malay with the same accent as Malays in Singapore and Malaysia's Johor state. 🙂
Interesting I didn't know that, I wonder how it became part of Indonesia
The history started since Kingdom Era. Even Malaysia, South Thailand, Brunei, Timor Leste, South Philiphines (Sulu), are part of Majapahit Kingdom (Nusantara/The Archipelago)-The Java Kingdom whose capital city is in Mojokerto (East Java, Indonesia).
And Malay is actually ethnic from Sumatra Island. They come from Melayu Kingdom whose the capital is in Jambi Province now. They spread all around Sumatra, Borneo, and Malaysia.
And The Malay Language in Indonesia is actually still traditional than Malaysia. In Malaysia they mix Malay, English, Chinese, and tamil.
Even in the past, when Malaysia got independence from British, Indonesia sent Teacher to teach Malay Language, because when British colonized Malaysia, English Language is the official language so they force to speak English.
Until Now, Teacher from Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei, still come to Sumatra to learn pure traditional malay language without to much mixing language.
So Malay ethnic is not originally from Malaysia. If we learn from history.
@@MawangHujan-fl2znWow indon love maling their Hoax information 😂🇲🇾🇧🇳🇸🇬 We use Malay Formal language ,without changing the language name to out country name🥴like indon,We still call Malay Language,
Pretty amazing Indonesia is just an hour ferry away from Singapore . Mephisto is my go to brand now instead of Birkenstock. Love that you still go for the fried dough goodness Solomon 😋

7-Eleven is lost from Alfamart and Indomaret as they closed in Indonesia in 2017. Btw the owner of Alfamart and Indomaret is richer by net worth than 7-Eleven as 7-Eleven has operated in many countries well Alfamart and Indomaret are just in Indonesia. But we can
Thanks for the info, I didn't know 7/11 left Indonesia. I'm surprised circle K is looking good though
Alfamart is now exist in Phillippines too.
Most Chinese people in Indonesia don't really like being spoken to in Chinese, they prefer to speak Indonesian or English.
Oh really, why do you think that?
@TravelingSoloLogs what is clear, the Indonesian nation which consists of more than 400 ethnicities and has more than 700 regional languages, since 1928 (Republik of Indonesia became independent in 1945) has pledged (including the diaspora of foreign nations who chose to live in Indonesia, including people from mainland China ) that *"Bahasa Indonesia"* is the *Unified Language* of the People accros the NUSANTARA (Archipelago). FYI, "Bahasa Indonesia" has been recognized as an Official Language at UNESCO since 2023, and it is only a matter of time before it becomes the 6th Official Language at the UN General Assembly.
Additional information, ethnic Chinese in Indonesia only 10 million out of Indonesia's 280 million population.
FYI, not all Chinese people in Indonesia can speak Mandarin, some of us speak 3 languages (The regional language, Bahasa Indonesia and little bit english)
Thanks for sharing 😃
I first went to Batam in 1990... it was like a cowboy town then...😂❤
Haha, I wonder how it was back then
Tiny town...
Really a new rows of few shops @@TravelingSoloLogs literally dusty new roads and complete with bars and compete with bourdoirs no tall buildings...
I was 18 and a friend was 19, naively... we mistakenly walked into a very dark "Shop"... the Working Ladies in there laughed us out...
I prefer Batam Centre ferry arrival point because its connected to the Mega Mall beside.
Nice, I gotta check it out
Hello,
Great video !
How many days do you recommend to spend in Batam ?
Thank you so much.
Probably 3 days would be good or more
150,000 SGD for a house in Batam. If i were Singaporean i would buy it rather than stay forever in tiny apartment for a triple price😂
You do have Malaysia options as well
@@TravelingSoloLogs Yes Johor is even more accessible since it's connected by bridge
buy 2 story house with 4 rooms n big .garden that's very cheap .for$150.000 compare Singapore flat HDB abouth $700.000 -1000.000 alot of Singaporean have plenty house here in Batam either own apartment., hotel..etc
Hy bro.
Datang ke Medan bro, Medan wilayah Indonesia di bagian Sumatera utara, kota terbesar ke 2 setelah Jakarta
You can still find pork and alcohol drink in certain area of jakarta
Interesting, I didn't know that
7/11 was failed in Indonesia years ago. Couldn’t compete with local giants convenience store indomaret and alfamart. Surely international media was covered it.
Interesting, I didn't know it couldn't compete. Circle K looks like it's doing good here
@@TravelingSoloLogsthing is 7/11 was so popular because back then they could sell beers. After the regulation came, where anything includes alcohol can only be sold in bigger supermarket, they died. Circle K never relies on selling beer.
Food variety wirh decent price... . Where are the island views Solo?
Coming soon! Make sure you're following me on Instagram I showed it on my stories as well
Wow!!…..Batam is like half Indonesia half Singapore…..they value property in Sing Dollar huh??…..I want to go there but not thru Singapore 😂. Their foods look like tasty!…..
Yeah, I'm surprised how many Singaporeans visit but then again everything is a lot cheaper
15:37 your friend must be crazy, you can definitely find pork and alcohol in Jakarta.
Haha, she was telling me it was hard to find. It's not common
@@TravelingSoloLogsnot as common as in Singapore for sure, but in Jakarta you can definitely get pork from roadside carts, food courts, to sit-down restaurants. Alcohol can only be sold by licensed shops and not just any grocery store, but it’s not difficult to find them.
Can you show good beaches please in this island
I got you covered it will be in one of the up coming videos
Batam has very big chinese influences and it's very present in the public while most of part Indonesia especially Java Island , all the chinese related were banned including the cultures, names, and languages, so the Chinese could be assimilated to the local cultures . but the law already lifted of course .
Interesting, thanks for sharing that information 😃
Singaporean that go to batam is either for business or massage+
Haha, massage+ that's the extra massage 😂
Who's say .some Singaporeean they have wife n family here ,the got many businesses to..like hotel , vila's, cottage ets.
For some indonesians, batam island little bit like a las vegas in usa bro 😁 trust me... Sin city 😁
For real? I didn't know that. Haha, but I did see a lot of massage parlors and random people on motorcycles asking me if I need some ladies 😅

This changed after 2005.
It's tourist city now.
Jalannya harus diberi marka dan jalur pedestrian.
Yes, they should improve it
China tourist no need Singapore visa can go to Singapore trip and then go to Indonesia Batam by ferry from Singapore and Indonesia also no need Indonesian visa for China tourist like as Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand right now no need Visa for China tourist to come in.
Yeah, the Chinese passport is gaining strength in Asia!
free visa for ASEAN country
you can get hotel a day for 8$ but its the cheapest one
Yeah but I don't think it's gonna be a nice hotel for 8 😅
@@TravelingSoloLogs true 😆 good enough for budget travelling
Solo i want to know why people in America come here to Asia they shock about wash Hans before eating some food, every country must wash hand before eating ..hope solo my friend will understand..hehe..😊😊😊
It's not common to see a sink in front of restaurants, usually we only have them in restrooms.
@@TravelingSoloLogsit's true ..That why i want know .come to Malaysia Sir.. Ramadhan is near only 20 days..u stay here 1 month for Ramadan ok..? Not go anywhere..Love From Malaysia ❤️❤️❤️
Kenapa saya melihat bnyak sampah ya.di sekitar restoran ada sampah ditempat orang makan .sekitar jalan raya juga banyak sampah.apa karena pemda nya tdk melihat atau kesadaran orang2nya yg rendah.kota saya semarang.tp jalan kami bersih dr sampah.apalagi ditempat makan biasanya karyawan akan cepat2 menyapu dan membersihkannya.tp biasanya ada etika utk tdk membuang sampah dirmh makan sembarangan .saya harap batam bersih spt singapura
Thank you for watching 😃
